Behind every beautiful love story is someone who believes in making the journey just as special as the destination. For Debra Maxie, that belief is at the heart of everything she does.
As the founder of Silk House Bridal and the award-winning wedding planning company Unveiled by Debra, Debra has spent years helping couples bring their wedding visions to life. With a background in business administration, an MBA, and more than a decade of experience in the banking industry, she brings together a love for entrepreneurship, a thoughtful eye for detail, and a genuine passion for serving others.
Debra created Silk House Bridal with a meaningful mission: to ensure every bride feels welcomed, celebrated, and beautiful exactly as she is. As a woman- and Black-owned boutique owner, she is passionate about creating an inclusive, intimate, and pressure-free space where brides of every shape and size can discover a gown that feels uniquely theirs.
Her approach is rooted in the belief that bridal shopping should never feel transactional. It should feel personal, joyful, and unforgettable. From the first appointment to the moment a bride says yes to her dress, Debra is committed to making every bride feel like the most important person in the room.
When she isn't helping brides find their dream gowns or bringing wedding visions to life, Debra enjoys spending time with her husband and family, exploring new places, and finding inspiration in the little moments that make life beautiful.

Debra, the owner, is absolutely amazing. She is one of the sweetest, most attentive people I have ever met. She truly listens to your ideas, your vision, and your dreams for your wedding dress and somehow brings everything together perfectly. Working with her was so easy and stress-free because she genuinely cares about making the experience personal and memorable.
One of the things I loved most is that every appointment feels like a VIP experience. Having the shop all to yourselves makes such a huge difference — there’s no rushing, no overcrowding, and it makes trying on dresses feel intimate, relaxed, and so much more enjoyable.
And the craziest part? I said YES to my dress on the very first dress I tried on! That alone speaks volumes about Debra’s expertise and how well she understands her brides. She made me feel beautiful, confident, and completely sure of my choice from the very beginning.

and I got to try on all sorts of dresses. She was also so kind to my Mom and sister, and I loved how she involved them in the process. I had to come back the next day for an additional fitting, and Debra went above and beyond to fit me in at 7am before my work day, even after I was at her shop late the night before.
Silk House, and more specifically Debra, is elevated, inclusive, thoughtful, and fun! I especially loved how Debra took the time to get to know me, my relationship, and my wedding. She has so much knowledge about weddings and the industry and is such a professional. I felt so comfortable with her, and that she truly knew what I was looking for in a dress. In fact, I ended up choosing a dress she picked! She somehow knew me even better than I know myself. So thankful for my experience!

The shop itself is stunning, with a wide range of dresses, inclusive sizing, thoughtful customization options, and multiple price points. Every detail feels intentional — from the way the dresses are curated and named, to the personal touches throughout the space.
What really stands out is the experience. It’s not just about finding a dress (though the selection is gorgeous), it’s about being guided, supported, and celebrated throughout the process. Debra and her team are warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly calming. They take the time to listen, collaborate, and make sure each bride feels confident in their choice.
There are also thoughtful touches that make the experience even more meaningful — like notes left for brides to read, and the way Debra incorporates and supports other vendors within the wedding community.
