We had two months, no dance experience, and an ambitious vision to surprise our wedding guests with a dance to a three song mashup, including a surprise hip-hop part. Eo took us on enthusiastically. She was an incredibly effective dance teacher (our guests were surprised we didn't have any dance experience)! She was also an amazing choreographer, translating the abstract ideas and vibes we wanted into dance moves, while also being open to our feedback and making it feel collaborative throughout the process. Most importantly, dance practice was fun. It was a much needed stress reliever during a time that can often be stressful. I highly recommend doing a choreographed first dance for your wedding, and I highly HIGHLY recommend Eo as a dance teacher.

Hello, and congrats on your wedding! My name is Eolian, and I'm the owner of Silvien Wedding Steps. We're here to customize your entire wedding dance experience to your unique needs. * What Kind of Couple Should Work With Us? *
Well, first of all, go watch those sample choreographies and silly videos in the gallery! Those should be able to give you a good idea of the dances we build, and the process to arrive at them. Our philosophy is that since we only have a few months to work with you, the most natural and beautiful dances will come from you guys having fun during lessons and on the floor. Couples who prioritize having fun with each other, who are nervous but excited for their dance, and/or who have a vision for their dance with no idea how to execute it should check us out. I'm also a bit of a lifts and tricks specialist, so any couple (dancer and non-dancer alike!) looking for those should reach out fast!
As a small business, we really get to care about every single client. We're here to help you make exquisite memories surrounded by the important people in your life. Dancing is a beautiful but vulnerable thing! You've placed a lot of trust in us by putting this moment in our hands, and we will invest in you just as much as you've invested in us.
* What Do Lessons With Us Look Like?*
If any of those sound like you (or if you just have more questions), reach out and schedule a completely free virtual consultation. We'll talk about any applicable experience you have (dance, sports, music), logistics like your dress and audience placement, and of course any vision you already have for your dance. And if you don't have a lot of answers yet, schedule a consultation call anyways! One of the purposes of that first conversation is for us to help you figure out what you don't know you don't know.
If we decide to move forward from there, we'll set a schedule to meet. We'll start with one or two lessons of basic steps, just to get a sense of how you move. Then we choreograph the dance piece by piece with plenty of chances for you to tell us what you like, don't like, or want in the remaining parts of the dance. After each lesson, we'll take videos reviewing what we covered for you to take home and practice. During the final lesson, we'll talk through final logistics and practice how to recover if and when little things go wrong, and how to laugh our way through it.

Hi! I'm Eolian (aka Eos), a ballroom and sword dancer in NYC. I actually started ballroom dancing as an adult! So even though we are the current vice-champions of USA Dance Amateur Nationals, I remember well the feeling of stepping onto a floor with nothing but two left feet and nerves. Teaching wedding dances has turned me into an absolute cheesy romantic, and I absolutely love creating first dances with couples that fit their priorities, be it beautiful memories, stunning photographs, or skills that allow them to dance in the future.
