Simon was absolutely wonderful to work with. We loved the moments he captured of our weekend - we especially love the candid photos he took - they are so amazing!! It wasn’t just the photography aspect that we loved about his work - he was so kind during all the in between moments of our wedding weekend. Simon’s energy was incredibly kind and patient. Simon even had emergency safety pins on hand for us to use! We cannot recommend Simon highly enough - an absolutely talented photographer and wonderful person to have around on your wedding weekend.

Simon was an outstanding photographer, from first contact thru the event and beyond. He has the perfect personality for this career, kind and patient and quietly assertive. He helped create a plan for the day and was flexible to allow for ad hoc memories. He worked well with everyone including children. Long story short: hiring Simon as our wedding photographer was the best decision we made. Now the long version: I can’t say enough good things about Simon. I was lucky to find him through Instagram because my then fiancé and I wanted to do our engagement photoshoot in Asheville. Fortunately, he travels! He arrived bright and early all the way to Durham, NC, and had the lovely Chris assisting him that day. Simon has an incredible fun personality that is down to earth and puts you at ease on a generally anxiety provoking day. He is so professional and efficient (he was so organized for our family portraits). Finally, you just know from his work and how he’s shooting during the event that you’re in good hands. I felt so comforted knowing that all the shots and more (he’s got the most creative eye and ideas!!) that I wanted were being captured. My now hubby and I could just be in the moment. Just two days after our wedding he shared a sneak peek of our photos (77 pictures!!) and I fell in love with every single one.

Simon was the best! We had our September wedding at hiwire and a big draw was their bier garden greenery. He did so wonderfully capturing our ceremony there and all the family and bridal party photos afterward! I love them and they also made perfect Christmas gifts for the whole family. We also love everything from the rest of the night from dances and food and speeches and everyone just having a great time. Hi wire overall is such a cool venue and he had great spots to really capture that space from the artful walls, to beer can stacks and more. Honestly, afterwards we know Simon was the best vendor we had. There were a couple things that went wrong in different areas and he was so good at distracting us from these issues. For example - we did our own music which cut out at one point. At the same time he gave us a camera to take some photos of our own around the venue of our loved ones and really whatever we wanted. As the bride, this helped me not focus on what could’ve been a stressful moment (the music was fixed too no worries). I also believe he helped keep the event on track and flowing from pre-ceremony through the event. While we didn’t choose to have him there the full day, if it’s in your budget, just do it. You won’t regret it.

I can not tell you how impressed we were with our experience with Simon. From the minute he showed up we felt very comfortable and knew we were in good hands. He went out of his way to make himself knowledgeable about the family members and friends in order to capture what we truly were looking for to make the most of our memories. Simon was very helpful in guiding us to capture our personalities and everyone quickly related to him. We could not have asked for a better photographer. We were comfortable with him right from the start and he captured everything we could have wanted. Simon was professional, but also very nice. Having him there felt like having a new friend there instead of a random stranger taking pictures of us all day. We had a daylight time crunch because of the time of our ceremony and he kept the families moving for family portraits so we could get our other important pictures in before dark, which we really appreciated. Picture turn around time was fast; we even got one of our sneak peaks back the night of the wedding! I would hire him all over again and I highly recommend him.

Simon is the best choice for your wedding photographer! We initially booked him for a traditional wedding and then switched gears a few months later and told him that we wanted to elope instead. He was incredibly flexible and willing to adjust his plans. And he made our elopement absolutely perfect! It was cold, windy, and rainy, but Simon was still game to hike with us and run all over taking pictures. My husband and I are both a little awkward in front of the camera, but we felt completely at ease with him and he really captured our genuine joy and love. Simon was recommended to us from the venue as a preferred vendor, and he was nothing short of amazing on our wedding day. I was fortunate to book him almost 18 months in advance and boy was I lucky. His rates were very competitive and he was responsive when I asked for his vendor recommendations as well as prompt to answer any questions I had. We had multiple phone conversations, but due to this being a destination wedding I met him on my wedding day about 15 minutes before “getting ready photos”. He was kind, patient, and efficient. I had a list of must take photos I wanted to complete prior to the ceremony and he staged and took beautiful photos of the wedding party faster than I can take a picture of my just my dog. He had the list in his hand and always looking around for the best shot based off the surroundings. During the night he was EVERYWHERE, capturing so many candid photos which mean so much to us: from the dance floor, to sunset photos, to the sparkler exit. He even got some professional photos complete for our friends at the venue. My husband and I had never gotten professional photos taken before, but Simon knew what to say to get us to laugh or place us in poses that didn’t feel forced or awkward. When I saw Simon’s work I instantly knew that was the professional I wanted and then I was blown away every time by his exceptionally quick responses. The first thing I noticed about Simon is that he felt like our best friend the moment we met. Honestly, the hour of couple shots my husband and I took with just Simon was my favorite part of the whole day. The three of us just felt like friends hanging out, allowing us awkward posers to chill for a bit. His eye for capturing raw emotion and (my complicated) family dynamics were spot on, and holy cow.....the efficiency in taking those posed family pics that only grandma wants was *chef's kiss* perfection. First off, I have to say that working with Simon has been SUCH an incredible experience. He did our engagement photos AND our wedding photos and they came out perfect! So much better than I had envisioned. When my husband and I first got engaged, we were looking for a photographer to take our engagement photos in the mountains in Asheville. I searched for a while because we had a budget and really didn’t want to deter from it. I came across Simon on the Knot and he had just started out his photography business less than a year prior. I was grateful he had various resources to view his work and I knew he was who I wanted to go with based on this. He also offered an “a la cart” option when choosing what you wanted for your photos as opposed to an entire package which was wonderful. When we met for the first time for our engagement photos, he was super chill and natural at photography. At the time, my husband and I were expecting it to be awkward considering we aren’t used to getting photos taken of us professionally but it wasn’t like that at all! He was incredibly thorough with his work from the spots he took us to to the poses which felt natural to even the amount of photos he took. His turnaround time was super fast too! For our wedding, it was a no brainer to go with him once again and I’m so glad we did. He met with us via zoom the week prior to discuss what he was planning on doing with the way the day was set up and was a master at his craft. The day of the wedding was so long and he was there for about 7 hours (poor guy!). He had a whole schedule to get everything we wanted in and even got there early to scope out spots on the property of the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville (our wedding location). The whole time he, again, was so chill and just went with the flow of the day but captured everything! Again, he was incredibly thorough and just made the day so memorable. When we got the photos back, I relived the whole wedding day again and they literally brought tears to my eyes. My husband was so impressed and happy with the way they came out as well. Simon is the nicest, sweetest, and calmest professional who has personality and a great eye. I HIGHLY highly recommend him for your engagement, wedding, or any photos you need taken. Highly, highly recommend. Simon was the perfect choice for us - he covered our ceremony and a second “day after” session in the mountains. The photos are absolutely amazing. His phenomenal artistic eye created some stunning backdrops and really captured us as a couple. Simon made us feel comfortable in front of the camera with his lighthearted demeanor and we really had a fun time at the day after session.

The absolute best photography experience any bride could hope for! Simon was insanely kind and accommodating for our big day on such short notice. He’s got a wonderful eye for the perfect setting in every photo and whenever I look at my wedding album it’s like I’m transported back to that very moment. I can’t thank him enough for his work. Simon followed us through multiple reschedules due to the pandemic, and was a supportive presence for us- even when he didn't have to be. It says something about your photographer when the officiant you hire is excited about working with them again! Simon makes you feel comfortable with his style, and helps you open up for the best pictures possible to remember your day to the fullest. He gave us two pictures the same night of the wedding that we could share right away, and a generous amount of sneak peek pictures in good time, even in peak wedding season! We don't have one bad thing to say about him and would highly recommend him to any couples in the Asheville area.

Simon was amazing to work with from the start. He is so nice and professional and we absolutely couldn’t have picked someone better to capture our wedding day. From the engagement shoot on a mountain in the freezing cold, to being there allllll day on the wedding day, it was such an easy and stress free process. The pictures are better than I ever could have imagined and we are SO glad we chose Simon. He keeps you informed the whole process and is always available to answer questions. Simon was awesome. He's fun, kind, and his photos are absolutely amazing. He was the second shooter at our wedding in October 2020, but we loved his photos so much that we reached out to him months later to get copies of all of his photos! And he was SO kind and helpful. He took time out of his super full schedule to get us copies. When we got his photos, we were floored. His editing is spot on, and he got some poses that we absolutely adored. We love going back and looking at his photos to remember our wedding day. Don't question it, book him!!

Dear Future Newlyweds - Whatever you do, go book Simon right now for any and all photoshoots! We cannot recommend him enough - he absolutely incredible. I truly mean this when I say he was a MAJOR part of making our wedding day so special. Leading up to our wedding, he was very friendly, accommodating and helpful - it felt like he was one of our old friends right off the bat. He put us both at ease throughout the entire process. On the day of the wedding, he arrived early to scout out some great photo spots and was so wonderful & cooperative in working with our other vendors. He made up for every ounce of guidance/support that we should've had from our other vendors, which he didn't need to do. We completely forgot our shot list and had a bridal party of 19 - Any other photographer would've hated clients like us! But instead, he put us at ease with his graciousness, captured all the shots we wanted, ones we didn't even know we wanted, as well as some incredible candid moments we had no idea anyone could capture. Unfortunately we had some unforeseen medical emergencies occur on our wedding day, which took us away from the fun for quite some time. Simon was amazing in making sure we were taken care of and offered his support for whatever we needed, but also gave us some space to handle things. He made sure that the party kept going, that the wedding guests continued having fun, all while capturing the fun moments we missed during the reception. So many of our friends and family have complimented us on Simon's professionalism, kindness and personality on the wedding day - Let alone the many we've received on the photos we've seen thus far. He was so flexible and accommodating, timely and hardworking. Honestly, we're pretty sure we're Simon's #1 fans with the amount we've raved about him to our family and friends (& given out his info so they can book him in the future). It really meant the world to us to have him there to capture all of our special moments - even the raw ones that were tougher than most on their wedding day. The photos we've seen just from the teaser have brought us to tears. We truly couldn't be more grateful for Simon and can't wait to use him for photoshoots in the future. He truly is the absolute best in the business.
