Because my fiance and I bought a house and were living together for a year before our wedding, we didn't have many of the traditional things for our home to register for. I took advantage and used Simple Registry and added items from stores that didn't offer wedding registries such as Home Depot and Lowes, but the majority of the gifts I added pertained to our honeymoon. I added the same thing my girlfriend did - hotel stays, meals, and excursions. Although a majority of our family and friends bought off our other registries, a few did buy off Simple Registry and they commented on how easy it was for them.

There were also many sample registries to preview, and even suggested pre-made registries I could have used, too. My (now) husband helped complete the registry by adding fun pictures to all the requested gifts. We could have even uploaded photos of us, rather than use stock photos... that made it really personal! I received many compliments on the ease of the transactions, and how creative it was. I definitely recommend Simple Registry to everyone needing to complete any type of gift registry.

Want a new toaster but prefer to buy it yourself? Put a toaster on Simple Registry, give it a price, and when someone "buys" it for you on the site, they are actually just sending you cash. Then you can get the toaster yourself. Or not. It's up to you. We returned about half the stuff we got from Crate and Barrel because we were moving and couldn't use all of it. Skip the hassle of returning stuff, use Simple Registry, and bathe in all the virtual cash you accumulate. (Note: my wife's mom said it would be unethical to not actually buy, or at least attempt to buy, the stuff you put on Simple Registry. That may be true. But you can still buy it on your own time when you're ready.)

I had two guests use it and then call me and say "they're not sending the gift to my house... they're just giving you my cash". I think it's extremely rude - as your guests at your bridal shower want to give you a gift. If they wanted to give you cash, they would. In my opinion, if four families want to split the purchase of a grill, they should all put in $50 and put it in a card, or buy the grill. These new traditions of people not opening their presents at shower's or just taking money for their gifts instead of allowing someone to give it to them as a gift is just rude.

Some of my guests were a little confused about the process. They would "buy" an item and think that the next step would be shipping and when that didn't happen they were unsure of what they just did.

You're not obligated to one store and guests can make a cash contribution if they prefer. Set up is easy, it only took me a half an hour. And I love the fact that I have a "thank you" list from the site after the wedding. And if you're considering sites like honeyfund, at simpleregistry you can include honeymoon air fare, dinners etc along with a food processor and panini press. Highly recommend!

If you don't need any more blenders or diningware, this is a fun way to decide what sorts of activities you might want to do on, say, your honeymoon (that's what we used it for), and then your family/friends can buy you dinner, a kayaking trip, museum admission, a couples' massage - whatever you want! You get the money deposited directly into your bank account, and then you can also take a picture of the activity to show them later. It's a fun way to get your honeymoon paid for and not end up with a bunch of stuff you don't need. Highly recommended!

It's quick and easy to set up, it's quick and easy for guests to send us $$, and it's quick and easy for me to request the deposit (which is a direct deposit into my account). It kept it all in one place, drafted us a thank you card list, and when I requested the $$ it was in my account 2 days later (and subsequently moved to our very special savings account). my only complaint is the transaction fee. We took it on so our guests didn't have to - but it meant when someone gave us say $50, we only got 47.50 of it. Something without fees would be nice & a lot of people opted to just write us a check - but simpleregistry.com made it easy for those who wanted to, to just gift it to us there.

I couldn't figure out what wanting a candlestick or butter dish said about us as a couple, or if I'd ever have any chance of remembering who gave us what. Then I had a mini-breakdown and went on the hunt for something that where we could pick our own items! We found Simple Registry, and loved what we were able to do with it. The site and app are both quick and easy to use. We created fun stuff that we really wanted.... including 1) creating a backyard oasis with tiki torches, hammock, and firepit, 2) sailing lessons, 3) dance lessons, 4) wine club membership, 5) artwork on our honeymoon, 6) expeditions on our honeymoon cruise, 7) a camera, and on and on. We ended up creating a whole slew of gifts, with price ranges down to $20/25 so that people could contribute to memories for us. People loved our registry!! They connected with the gifts. For example, my aunt contributed toward the firepit saying that her favorite memories with her sons has been around there's and she hopes we can spend time around it together someday.... We still ended up doing a very small 'stuff' registry from Pottery Barn, to satisfy any traditionalists. But, we absolutely loved the freedom we got from the SimpleRegistry approach. I felt like our guests could actually connect to our lives and pick stuff that had meaning to us, and to them. And I can tell you exactly who got us what, because they all shared with us why they were getting that specific item. I think using Simple Registry was one of the best decisions we made in the wedding. Because we stayed true to who we are and what we want, instead of just falling into a 'well everyone else uses this' rut.

It was SIMPLE to use, and when we wanted to cash out, it's an easy online funds transfer directly into your bank account (our funds were available the next day though they say 2-3 days). DO IT. When i had questions it was easy to reach them and they answered in a timely fashion. Great customer service.
