Simply Splendid

We had such a great time with Marla! Our engagement photos turned out wonderfully and it's definitely due to her thoughtfulness and planning and striving to ease any of our nerves about being in front of the camera! She's incredibly knowledgeable in film and photography and we learned a lot throughout our engagement session. This assures me even more that our wedding photos will be thoughtful, detail-oriented and classic! We even got our prints back early- lucky that the lab was able to turn them around and Marla making sure to capitalize on their speed! We'd recommend Marla and film photography for anyone looking for clean and timeless photos. We cannot wait for our wedding!

I reviewed Marla before, and because she is so amazing, I needed to submit a new review for her work for our wedding. Marla exceeded expectations. I knew she was good, but when she delivered our final wedding album we were blown away. Marla from Simply Splendid has an artistic talent that I have never seen in a photographer. She is skilled with film photography and captures every moment you may not have even realized was so important or lovely at the time. Her eye for beautiful moments through a lens is phenomenal. We received our full wedding album and EVERY SINGLE PICTURE is incredible. I have viewed a lot of wedding albums from photographers, through family and friend's weddings, and I have never seen so many great pictures. Usually, most wedding albums have a portion of great images and the rest are just ok. Not with Marla. Literally every picture captures something beautiful. To be technical- all of her images have amazing qualities that makes her photography stand out. The composition, lighting and color, perspectives, ability to capture the emotions and story from moments... Everything that makes a quality image can be found in Marla from Simply Splendid's photography. Ask her to view some sample albums- you'll see what I mean. Not only is Marla a very skilled photographer, she is extremely knowledgable in the wedding industry. She has a wonderful reputation and has wonderful taste. If you like the style of her photography, you will love her taste in all things wedding. She is happy to provide insight or direction on choices that will make your day even better. I'd listen to her over most, if not all, of my vendors. I completely trust Marla, and you would, too! Oh, and of course, I can't forget to mention she is beyond friendly and personable. First Review: I have to agree with the other review that Marla is a true artist. I searched high and low for a photographer. When I found Simply Splendid and met Marla, I knew she would be incredible. We initially met over Skype to talk about how she works with couples and her photography. I knew immediately that we were making the best choice! Marla is very creative, experienced, helpful, and knowledgable in both photography and weddings. So far we have only worked with her for our engagement photos, and I knew before seeing them that they would come out perfectly (and they did). In the Pacific Northwest, finding a day without rain can be quite the challenge. Marla was so flexible and kept more days than I would have expected available for us to wait for that special, rain-free day for our session. Film photography takes true eye and skill for capturing the right moment, and Marla surely does! She provides great guidance and suggestions to make you feel great. I can't recommend Simply Splendid (or Marla) enough, I promise you'll have fun and will love her work!

Marla is an absolute artist! I feel so lucky that she was part of our wedding day, seriously she's just the best. I wanted a highly skilled photographer who is comfortable shooting with film in all sorts of settings (our ceremony was outdoors at nightfall). She totally exceeded our expectations! Marla was easy to work with, from the initial contact to months after our wedding. Day of the wedding, she was patient, cool, managed our timeline and "must have" looks well. My fiancé (not a picture guy) felt completely comfortable with her and appreciated her pointers for certain looks. Both of our families were impressed with how delightful she was while setting the flow and direction for our large family photos (I don't know how she does it). I felt so happy about our choice even before I received all of our pictures, she sent us a "sneak peak" while we were on our honeymoon, which made it that more special. When we did receive them (4 week turn around), they were everything we could have hoped for. The photographs were just stunning! I can't say enough about Marla. She is a very special lady with extreme talent. Book early!

Marla's photography skills live up to the name-- they are indeed splendid! We had Marla do our engagement photos and LOVED how they turned out. She is a gem to work with, and she ensures that you feel calm and comfortable (with a lot of laughs thrown in!) during your session. And, she does film photos, which wonderfully captures a level of softness and romance in your photos that is hard to find elsewhere. During our shoot, it started to rain a bit, and Marla had excellent suggestions for how to adapt to the situation, and our photos in the rain are truly some of my favorites. She communicates effectively and delivers your photos in a timely manner. You will have a lot to look forward to, because the photos will exceed your expectations!
