s after seamstress turn me away and refuse to work on it because of all of the delicate layers – some were flat out rude and others recommended I not bustle it at all, which I knew wasn’t a viable option since I would have been tripping over my dress the entire reception. Then came Mary Jo who was truly just the kindest, most supportive miracle worker there is! She sewed in an inner belt to my dress to help my strapless dress from falling down and in doing that, made all the difference in feeling secure in my dress on the day of the wedding. Mary Jo worked tirelessly to figure out a way to bustle my dress and, in the end, figured it out – I really don’t like bustles in general, so I ultimately decided that I didn’t want to have a bustle at all and ended up cutting off the tulle train on the day of the wedding before the reception. Mary Jo was SO understanding (even after all of the hours of work that she had put into the bustle), removed the bustle from the dress, and even gave me advice on cutting the dress for the day of the wedding. There were times when I felt faint at fittings and Mary Jo and her husband got me water and snacks and truly took care of me like I was one of their own. At the most stressful climax just before our wedding when I was nothing but stressed, Mary Jo’s kindness literally meant the world to me and in working with her, I always felt like I was in the best hands. Mary Jo also did alterations for my Rehearsal Dinner dress and in the end, could have charged me so much more than she did but opted not to. If you are looking for your literal fairy godmother to do alterations for your wedding dress, look no further than going to Mary Jo!!!

Mary Jo created the entire top of my lace dress by picking individual sections of lace and piecing them together to flatter my neckline, it looked so flawless. We were referred to Mary Jo and couldn't be more pleased. She knew exactly what needed to be done the moment she saw the dress. Our daughter walked out of that first meeting so happy and excited. On Friday, she walked down the aisle in her perfect wedding dress thanks to Mary Jo. d I hated it on me. I had made an appointment to meet with Mary Jo based on a friends recommendation assuming I would need some alteration no matter what dress I got. But it was a week before my appointment but at this point I was thinking I would need a new dress completely. However Mary Jo told me to send her some pictures before I scraped the dress because she would most likely be able to create something I love out of the dress I already bought. So I sent her the dress I had and the dress I realized I wish I had bought (which was some random picture from Pinterest that I loved but of course would not be able to find the dress anywhere if I tried). She said she thought she could make it happen and fit me in right away to start designing my new dress. In 3 appointments she took my $250 Amazon dress + some new material and created my dream dress and a veil from the left over material. I could not believe it was the same dress. It fit perfectly and I felt like a princess. She told me I should feel like I want to wear my dress every day if I could, which I didn’t understand in the beginning but now I do. I wish it would let me attach photos because you have to see it to believe it. I believe she will be posting them on her Instagram if you would like to see. Overall I could not have had a better experience and Mary Jo truly loves what she does and she is amazing at it. She made me comfortable, eased all my closed to wedding dress anxiety, always made things work with my schedule (despite me being in medical school in Tucson), and gave more than I could ever expected. When I got there, she was careful to make sure that I'm confident in her abilities to meet the deadline, which was within 10 days! But she delivered and took all the stress off our shoulders! It was well worth using her to remake the wedding dress. Mary Jo was accommodating (I don't live in the valley), lovely to work with, timely, good at communication, and her pricing was unbelievably reasonable. A pleasure to work with her and made me feel I got so much more out of my dress. I felt so involved in the decision making and I know my dress ended up being way more work than we had both expected. Between all the wedding details and logistics of stupid flower arrangement deciding and colors, I knew I got to spend a few hours designing with Mary Jo - I was pretty sad when it was completely done because that meant the project was over! I loved my dress, she took my sketched out an idea to a reality that was beyond anything I could have dreamed. *My wedding was February 18th, 2018 for context. Whatever you do, if you decide to redesign a dress, start early!!

w her she examined the dress closely and realized I as right and she said "wow! that waist line is really crooked." But is not the end. I had to go to my "final fitting" THREE times because she forgot to correct the waistline and forgot how she had originally done the bustle and had to move and add bustle ties. In the end the dress still was not perfect but it was "good enough" so she never tried to make the dress look way it should have looked in the first place.

ress it was just a dream, however when my husband and I found out I was pregnant the wedding date got moved from up from March to January . And I initially thought I would need to buy a new dress  BUT I was referred to Mary Jo , by my little sister who was married just 3 months prior, Mary Jo did her dress as well and did an amazing job. Needless to say she worked her magic and we were able to nip and tuck my original dress to accommodate my 6 month prego belly, and it looked so beautiful I could not have asked for more. Not only does she do a great job, but she is so creative as well. My dress was originally a sleeveless corset type dress which was no problem 6 months ago before I had a prego belly, but Mary Jo was able to add some straps covered with beautiful lace that she provided , which matched my dress perfectly ! It was the perfect idea to help me keep up my dress by adding these straps and it came together beautifully. I was also very self-conscious about myself and my dress and wanted it to hug my belly in a flattering cute way , and Mary Jo really took her time with me and met with me multiple times to make sure it looked just right ( weekly up till the wedding week , since my belly would grow so quickly) I also really appreciated her being punctual and flexible with her fittings. She also made me a custom faux fur white jacket to go over my wedding dress for the evening, since AZ winter this year has been super chilly. Nothing but great things to say about Sisters N stitches, I highly recommend her. I wish I could post some pictures here since words don’t do the job justice!

seamstress disaster. I was only looking to add relatively simple long sleeves under the cap sleeves of the existing dress. With only a few weeks until the wedding, Mary Jo was able to fit me into her busy schedule and construct beautiful sleeves as well as tackle the bustle for the dress's enormous train! AND she was able to get it done for me in about a week! I am so pleased with my dress and the work she did on it. I am so glad that a friend recommended her to me! a custom bustle with two layers! I was having major health issues and regardless of how many lbs I kept losing and times she had to help tighten again she was so patient and understanding. I was constantly in tears and worried it would not fit. She has such a beautiful personality and is wonderful to work with and I got so close with over all my fitting time frame that I am sad I wont see her often. I can not believe how goegeous my wedding dress looks..not to mention the custom dress she made me from my moms blue gown into my rehearsal dress. She was able to cut the sleeves into a tank top shoulder dress with a rhinestone belt, deep back and a high slit...my mom couldnt believe it was her 80s wedding gown! I highly recommend her.

ttering dress I had ever put on my body. I was referred to Mary Jo at Sister 'n Stitches and she was my life saver. She listened to my vision of what I thought the dress was supposed to be and she made it absolutely perfect. I thought it was going to cost me a fortune with all of the layers and beading on my dress and it was a completely fair price. She also was able to fix my mothers skirt that she got married in for me to wear at my rehearsal dinner. I would not only recommend her but she will be my go to woman for everything sewing!

e. That concept left me in quite a predicament because I bought my dress in Florida and was in the process of marrying in and moving to Arizona. When my dress arrived in the at the shop in Florida I quickly realized that the gown felt different on me, it was thicker than I remembered and we were all quite surprised to find out that there was a corset actually built into it. I purchased the heavily beaded form fitting Sottero and Midgley Ettiene gown and because I am petite everything felt very bulky (the dress was a size 2) so I asked Mary Jo to remove the corset. As soon as we did, we could see that it was bunching up around my midsection — I have pretty severe scoliosis and one of my hips is almost 2 inches higher than the other. Mary Jo worked tirelessly throughout the holiday season to help the gown lay as flat as possible on me. It was a process but I had confidence that she would be able to get it just right and SHE DID! It was a pleasure working with her! I was so new to Arizona at the time and I am so grateful for how accommodating she was, she was great to work and discuss wedding details with! Mary Jo also created a custom veil for me so that we could show off the details of the back of my dress without taking away from all of the work she did to make it fit me. She ended up taking the extra pieces of my dress and beading and made a beautiful train that flowed perfectly as I walked down the isle. It was amazing and I’d probably wear the dress every day if it was socially acceptable! Truthfully, I am pretty particular and I would absolutely recommend her and her sister to anyone who needs alterations! They are incredibly reasonably priced as well!
