Sky Retreat

We recently had our daughter’s wedding at The Sky Retreat in Purlear, NC. What an enchanting place to hold a wedding!! It was a dream come true for our daughter, an easy place with conveniences for the parents and an overall fun event for our guests. The Sky Retreat provides their full site for the wedding, at the top of a mountain overlooking beautiful mountain ranges. This venue includes a couple of outside venues, a wide expansive outside deck and a grand ballroom with a well equipped kitchen, bridesmaid suite and groomsmen room. We were also able to take advantage of the cabins on the property. I can’t say enough about the magical time we had with beautiful mountains and fall foliage all around, goat yoga, visiting the farm, and then a perfect wedding day! Beth and Vito are so pleasant to work with, as was everyone in the area. I highly recommend this venue!

If we had to do it again, we would pick the Sky Retreat again immediately! They were so easy to work with, and you literally cannot beat the views. We were able to host our rehearsal dinner here as well which was super helpful. Our close friends loved staying in the cabins on-site. We picked this venue for the beautiful reception banquet hall and the mountain backdrop. It looks like you are on the edge of the world. The beauty cannot be overstated. It was also convenient for us to have our guests in Wilkesboro and Boone. I highly recommend this venue and have already recommended it to a couple of my close friends who are newly engaged!

We had our wedding at Sky Retreat, and really enjoyed our experience. The customer service was fantastic, and everything was delivered as promised. The cabins were beautiful and very clean, and all of our guests commented on how absolutely spectacular the venue was. The massages we received from V&B Experience were also a wonderful touch. We highly recommend considering having your wedding here!

Bethany Crews was asked to step just two weeks before my daughter's wedding to clean up a lot of loose ends that were not getting properly detailed. She did an incredible job organizing and executing the details. The wedding day was perfect. Bethany was very vigilant before, during, and after the ceremony through the reception to be sure the wedding party and guests were well taken care of; even to the extent of cleaning up after dogs and little ones. She was amazing.

You’ve got these stunning panoramic vistas that make every photo look like it’s straight out of a fairytale. Whether you’re gazing out during a sunny day or catching the golden hues of sunset, it’s like Mother Nature herself RSVP’d yes to your big day. Now, onto the staff. These folks are the real MVPs. They’re super friendly, incredibly helpful, and always ready with a smile. It’s like having a team of fairy godmothers and godfathers making sure your day goes off without a hitch. From the moment we started planning to the final send-off, they were there, offering support, advice, and sometimes just a calming presence. And then there’s the customer service. Top-notch doesn’t even begin to cover it. These guys are attentive, responsive, and genuinely care about making your day special. They're quick to tackle any little hiccup and are all about the details, which, let’s be honest, is what makes or breaks a wedding day. In summary, if you’re dreaming of a wedding with stunning scenery, a team that treats you like royalty, and service that’s as smooth as your first dance, Sky Retreat is your spot. It’s not just a venue; it's an experience – one that you and your guests will remember fondly for years to come.

I reserved this venue for my daughters wedding a year 1/2 in advance and would highly recommend it! The staff were absolutely wonderful to work with. Responded promptly to all my questions and were so helpful the day of the event to make sure everything was how we wanted it. The venue is absolutely beautiful and well worth the price!

Absolutely Stunning! Pictures hardly show how gorgeous this venue is and words can only describe so much. We are so grateful to have celebrated our wedding at this amazing site. There are so many areas that can provide you with a breath-taking backdrop and their ballroom is beautiful and spacious. Vito was very helpful and inviting when we first arrived for setup. The venue was quite large and easy to get around, and the cabins were very close by. Sky Retreat is a beautiful location! My husband and I were so lucky to have our wedding there! The views are amazing! And one of the only venues I have seen where you can see the mountain views while you’re inside too! The owners were easy to communicate with and super helpful with everything. We had a blast and would highly recommend Sky Retreat!

What an AMAZING experience we had!! I cannot rave enough about how perfect this place was to us when we got married therein October! The view speaks for itself of course but the people there went above and beyond for us, not only on our wedding day but for the 2 years we planned it leading up to the wedding! They were so nice, always helpful, answered ALL our questions, accommodating and super supportive during the day of the wedding. We stayed in the cabins, along with the bridal party, and it was perfect to have everyone on site, definitely worth it. I can’t speak highly enough about Sky Retreat as a venue to get married at and the people who work there so just trust me when I say book your wedding here!

Everyone we worked with at Sky Retreat for our wedding was amazing! They were so incredibly helpful every step of the way. All of them went out of their way to help us and make sure our wedding was exactly how we wanted it to be. They are truly some of the kindest people I've ever met and I can't recommend them enough!

Our wedding at Sky Retreat was incredible. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and the team is SO accommodating. We had both our rehearsal dinner and wedding there, and also rented out all the on-site cabins for the wedding party and some friends. We loved the convenience of having everything in one place. Absolutely amazing venue!! The views are of course breathtaking and will awe every single one of your guests like it did ours. We received so many compliments of how beautiful and fairytale like our wedding was due to the venue. The owners and super easy to work with and very flexible. Even when I show them question after question over months they were quick to respond and willing to work with me on what we needed. We couldn’t imagine having celebrated our wedding any place else. Their customer service is out of this world. Their venue is stunning, and they communicate with you during your entire venue search. The only reason my fiancé and I didn't go with them was because I live so far away. But they are absolutely phenomenal. I had to share my amazing experience with them.

The sky retreat was perfect for our wedding! Everyone who works there is very nice and accommodating. We enjoyed being able to have all of our family and pets stay in the cabins on-site as well. Would highly recommend them for your wedding or any other event you may be hosting! The view alone sells this place but having such awesome and friendly people to work with makes it even better.

We went to visit Sky Retreat for a venue tour and immediately fell in love. We knew that we had to have our celebration of love at this space. The staff were kind and so easy to communicate with throughout the process. Our experience was top notch and I cannot express just how wonderful these individuals and this venue really is!

The sky retreat was spectacular from start to finish. The view is breathtaking and our guests could not stop talking about it. The staff was so friendly and helpful and seemed to enjoy celebrating the day just as much as we did. I cannot recommend this venue and team enough. If there was any problems, I never heard a thing about it. A truly seamless and perfect day.

Sky Retreat was a wonderful venue and we are very glad we found them after looking at 8 other places. This is truly a hidden gem. The view and scenery is just breathtaking! The cabins on site were perfect since my family came from VA and my husbands family came from NC. The property managers did everything they could to ensure our special day went perfect and smooth. Sky Retreat truly has everything you could ask for to have a beautiful wedding, from location and view to professionalism and entertainment.

The Sky Retreat was absolutely perfect and so so beautiful! Everyone was so extremely helpful with everything, from pricing to donkeys to just any and every question we had. We had a very small ceremony and rented the cabins they offered. My whole party talked about visiting again. I can’t recommend Sky Retreat enough!

Sky Retreat is definitely the perfect venue to host your wedding or post-wedding celebration. The view was breathtaking as it overlooks the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. If you wish to do so, there is plenty of space outdoors to host your entire event outdoors. We hosted our post-wedding celebration in August 2021 and still wanted to be COVID conscious and considerate to our guests, therefore, we opted to host our event solely outdoors until 10pm. If you choose to utilize their gorgeous ballroom, this is a remarkable option as well. The ballroom has high lofted ceilings with beautiful chandeliers and large open windows that overlook the mountains, so though you are inside you still get the view. The team was wonderful as well. It was great working with Merin. She made scheduling easy and answered all of our many questions leading up to our big day. Vito was super helpful the day of, as well, and will setup the tables and chairs however you envision them to be setup. He is available the day of too for any last minute needs or questions and also takes care of the breaking down of the tables and chairs, which is a huge relief when you are busy hosting your guests and enjoying the day. All-in-all, I would recommend booking your next wedding event at Sky Retreat in a heartbeat.

Sky Retreat is the most beautiful venue in North Carolina! The owners are amazing and very helpful throughout your entire planning process, they are quick to respond to questions and are very attentive!! The views are incredible, you cant explain how breathtaking they are! The cabins on site are perfect for family/the bridal party to stay at after the wedding. I cant recommend Sky Retreat enough!!!

We had our wedding at Sky Retreat eight weeks ago. I had an extremely hard time deciding between so many beautiful High Country venues. There were three reasons Sky Retreat won out: the views, the Parkway drive up, and the covered porch. The fact that everything else was perfection heightened the whole experience into a choice that the two of us, our family, and our friends could not have been happier with. The venue is kind of magical. You look down on the charming cabins on one side, and across breathtaking mountain vistas on the other. You get views from anywhere you choose to have your ceremony or dinner. Inside there are almost floor-to-ceiling windows and otherwise a blank canvas room to do with as you wish. Outside you can have your ceremony on the pavers or the grass. We had only twenty guests so we were able to have dinner on the patio, perfect for this never-ending pandemic. Our caterer (Earthworks) raved about the kitchen set up here before we even booked it, and he even had tons of space outside out of sight to set up his wood grill for the veggies and local trout he served. It was awesome. Our photographer (Enowen) got incredible shots of us at sunset with the views behind us and the mountain breeze ruffling my dress. The bridal dressing room has a comfy couch and a nice long makeup counter with a full wall mirror. I was the only one getting my hair and makeup done professionally in there, but if you have a large bridal party who are all getting ready at the same time it won’t be big enough. The dressing area is also one room with the toilets separated by a curtain which felt less than ideal, and I had to drag my dress into the handicap stall to get dressed in order to have privacy. The men’s dressing area is also in their bathroom and not separated in any way. This was really the only downside of the venue for me and my pee-shy friends. On the plus side, everything about the venue is truly wheelchair accessible. Merin answered every question I had so quickly and could not have been nicer and Vitold worked so hard setting everything up and tearing it down to our exact specifications (don’t forget to give him a nice cash tip).

The perfect wedding venue, nestled on the Blue Ridge park way with spectacular views! My wedding on 8/29/21 was perfect! Vito & Merin were so kind and helpful, we can not say enough good things about them! This place has all you could wish for as a wedding venue, or just a place to unwind and relax in one of the many cabins! They offer so much more then the venue and we are so thankful we stumbled upon this gem!

We held our rehearsal dinner, wedding, and my parents' 51st anniversary party at Sky Retreat over a long weekend this July. The venue is SO beautiful and the staff were accomodating, communicative, and shared in our excitement. We did have some rain so we moved our ceremony to the covered side porch of the banquet hall and it was perfect, we didn't feel like we missed out on anything. The cabins onsite are lovely and we loved being able to have so many of our crew stay close together. We HIGHLY reccomend Sky Retreat, it's one of the best wedding-planning decisions we made!

The view was stunning! Every single guest complimented the view and how gorgeous the venue was. They were very kind and helpful when it came to getting everything set up for the wedding, reception, and the rehearsal. We booked the cabins, which just made the experience so much easier, and it was great to be able to have friends and family so close to us. Highly Recommend!

Sky Retreat was amazing!!! The venue is gorgeous and the staff are beyond the best! We rented the venue for the weekend and had our rehearsal dinner and our wedding/reception for my son and his bride. We couldn’t have asked for better more accommodating people! We were so pleased and had multiple guests say this was the best wedding they’d ever attended at the most beautiful venue!

Absolutely Perfect Wedding Venue! From the scenic views to the most generous hosts, choosing this venue was the easiest and best decision we made for our wedding. The hosts are so accommodating and are willing to help however they can. There is an excellent back up plan in case the weather is not ideal and the cabins on the venue were so much fun to have our bridal party stay in for the weekend of our cabin. Do yourself a favor and visit the venue in person before you make any decisions so you can see for yourself just how beautiful the venue is. They offer chairs and tables, furniture/portable fireplaces for the deck, and the best part was their personal goats made an appearance at our wedding! I truly hope this review helps you make your decision because we were so blessed to have our wedding at this venue. Our wedding was the end of May and the weather was incredible.

Owners were very friendly. Helped me along the way as well as made me extremely welcomed the day of my micro wedding. The venue was perfect on top of the mountains with the most amazing long range views. The veranda was perfectly lit for put car cutting and dancing. This place really is amazing for a large or intimate wedding !!!

We just got married 2 weeks ago at Sky Retreat and everything was absolutely amazing! We booked them for our venue last fall and since we live in Florida, we did everything virtually. However, after our FaceTime view of the venue we knew it was perfect! Merin was great from start to finish! Communication was always prompt, helpful, and friendly. The venue is breathtaking and guests kept telling us how this was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been at. HIGHLY recommend!

Vito the venue manager was nothing short of amazing. He worked diligently to make sure all of our needs/wants were met and even exceeded! Our newlyweds could only describe the experience at Sky Retreat as a “ Dream come True” Your child’s wedding day is one that you want to be perfect in every way. Our daughter's wedding was held at Sky Retreat & we could not have been happier! The venue is AMAZING!!!! The staff is incredible & go out of their way to be helpful & accommodating. Everyone couldn't stop talking about the beautiful venue and incredible views! I highly encourage anyone considering Sky Retreat to book it - you will not regret it!

This was the best decision we made for the wedding by far! This venue is not only fantastic but the staff was unbelievable! Our guests said they were so impressed and it was just breathtaking!

The most beautiful location for a wedding and the greatest people to work with at the Sky Retreat. Merin and her team answered all of our questions promptly, helped us to reschedule our wedding when restrictions with the virus were in place, she was always kind and really wanted to make our experience with them the best possible. I heard a lot of horror stories with other venues making it difficult so I was so thankful we chose them. Our wedding was phenomenal and a good part of that is from all the work that Vito and his brother did for us over the weekend. They are great people with a wonderful location. We stayed in the cabins on site which were adorable and came with all the essentials. We enjoyed a quick hike at the cascade falls. I feel like I couldn’t say enough good things about them and my experience over my 2 year planning period. I highly recommend them for anyone wedding planning or looking to get away for a weekend.

On October 12th, we had our dream wedding at the most beautiful wedding venue in the high country. It still feels like a fairytale ... The raw beauty of the Blueridge Mountains coupled with the crystal chandeliers of the Sky Retreat's ballroom is simply unparallel. From the moment we booked the venue until the very end of our wedding we were so well taken care of! The Sky Retreat team's professionalism, prompt communication and reliability are everything you could ever want in a wedding venue. We couldn't be happier we chose the Sky Retreat! :)

They say rain is good luck on a wedding day, we think that it also counts on a foggy day. We originally picked Sky Retreat for the view and location, and we're so happy with the service from the team at Sky Retreat and the venue was gorgeous on a foggy day as well. It was a great location that allowed us flexibility and was just the right size for our wedding. Even with planning from a distance, it was great to work with the team at Sky Retreat.

We got married at Sky Retreat two weeks ago and are still talking about how beautiful it is and how amazing everyone who works for Sky Retreat is!!! From dance lessons to setting up tables, everyone was incredible! I truly cannot say enough nice things about everyone at Sky Retreat and how gorgeous the venue is. My family also booked out all the cabins and I got ready in cabin 1, so my bride couple have the suite, and was so pleased with how lovely and clean the cabins all are!!! Couldn’t be any happier, looking forward to making up an event so we can go back!!!

We booked Sky Retreat within our first visit. This venue has BREATH TAKING views with a gorgeous indoor venue that we used for the reception area. I cannot express enough how much we enjoyed getting married at The Sky Retreat. The venue itself did enough decorating for us, so we didn't have to add much else. It was convenient to have the reception on the same site as the ceremony rather than driving elsewhere. Everyone at our wedding was raving about the views and kept saying, "How did y'all find this place!" I would get married all over again (to the same man haha) in this exact location. I encourage anyone who is thinking of using Sky Retreat as there venue to go ahead and book it!

After looking up Sky Retreat online, my fiance and I were in love with the venue. We set up a tour easily and when we saw it in person, we were blown away. It had all of the things on our venue checklist. They were offering a special discount of $1000 off and free table and chair rentals if we booked during November. The venue was perfect for our 150 guests. We wanted our chairs to be set up a little bit non-traditionally, and they made it happen. I sent in a layout for the reception using allseated.com and our tables and chairs were set for when the vendors arrived for setup. We had no trouble with the venue or the venue staff. My friends and famile who attended my wedding are still raving about how beautiful the venue was! I am a wedding planner myself and I would plan an event at this venue with no hesitation.

After months looking for a venue within our price range and specifications (a good view), we finally found Sky Retreat. This venue was more than we could have asked for. Everyone went above and beyond to make this the perfect day for us. We had three months to plan our wedding, and they made everything so effortless. All of our questions (no matter how last minute) were answered promptly. This place was absolutely breath taking.

This venue is beautiful! Only about 25-30 minutes from the nearest towns, this venue offers privacy with a magical setting. Also has a beautiful building for the reception, we couldn’t have asked for a more memorable venue. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a venue that puts you on top of the world.

We had our wedding at Sky Retreat on 4/20/2019. The weather did not cooperate with us and we experienced unseasonable chills, freezing rain, and had the most AMAZING wedding in the history of weddings. The Sky Retreat team were accommodating in every way from rehearsal to setup and cleanup. We had to move the ceremony from the lawn to the veranda and it was the perfect setting in every way with an incredible view. I'd recommend Sky Retreat and their team to anyone looking to get hitched in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

If there was an option to give Sky Retreat 10 stars I would. To say that our wedding day was perfect is an understatement! Everyone (Christina, Vitold, Merin, Dima etc.) at Sky Retreat was beyond kind, responsive, helpful, laid back and organized. We spent our entire wedding weekend at Sky Retreat with many of the wedding party staying in the adorable, clean cabins onsite. Our rehearsal dinner Friday night was huge success and our (200 person) wedding the next day was a fairy tail. Everyone kept commenting on how gorgeous the views were and how beautiful the venue was. I will be recommending this venue to any and every engaged couple I come across!!!!!!

This venue is absolutely amazing! Merin and her husband are so sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful! My husband and I went paragliding there, took dance lessons from them, and had our wedding at Sky Retreat. It was perfect! All of our guests were blown away by the venue and kept complimenting it all day and night! Thank you both for everything - you're the best!!!!
