y disrespectful to my photographer, he trash talked one of our bridal party members, and he ruined the surprise of my dress to my partner. Ruined our ceremony exit, ruined our reception entrance, made us take awkward pauses, didn’t play a large portion of the songs we requested. Didn’t listen to anything we tried to say. ho is considering hiring a DJ. Perhaps the most important thing about Mike is he recognizes that every wedding is different, and he will do everything in his power to deliver what YOU want, not what some other DJ thinks you should have. We didn't want a big "production" wedding, and we were nervous about hiring a DJ at all, after seeing so many bad wedding DJs. We also have eclectic music tastes, and our request list ran the gamut: Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Vampire Weekend, LMFAO, Bruno Mars, Gotye, Electric Guest, and George Taylor, to name a few. Mike not only worked them all in, but did so in a way that WORKED. The whole night was just one good song after another, and everyone had a great time.
Mike loves doing this job, and it shows. He can read a crowd and adjust his playlist on the fly, sticking to the style and personalities of the bride and groom, but also keeping touch with the pulse of the room. He kept the energy flowing from rocking out on the dance floor to low-key quieter parts of the reception and back all night. Mike is also a character, charmingly quirky with many stories to tell about the many weddings he's put on (all anonymous, he doesn't tell tales out of school). He was a pleasure to work with, particularly because he was inquisitive about and receptive to what we wanted, and did a lot of work above and beyond just to give us a better experience. Planning can be stressful, but after each phone call with Mike, we felt more relaxed.
The bottom line is Mike cares about putting on a good party for you and your guests, and he does so without calling attention to himself. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ, and we're so thankful that we found him and hired him. I promise if you hire him you'll be in good hands!

Furthermore, SkyMike interrupted my dad's speech TWICE. I very clearly stated that I did not want inappropriate music, as my three year old daughter and grandparents would be present, yet some of the music towards the end were far from appropriate. When my daughter and her fiancée finally landed in Houston a month before the wedding, Skymike was very flexible in scheduling time to meet with them and finalize the details. His enthusiasm and knowledge of “all things wedding” is awesome. The wedding went off without a hitch! From the ceremony at 6pm, to the “first” dances, the toasts, the speeches, the packed dance floor the whole evening, to the departure of the newlyweds at midnight to the song “Great Day for a White Wedding” by Billy Idol. People still talk about how fun he was and how they loved the fact that he was involved in the wedding rather than just there playing music. He took the time to get tot know our wedding party before the wedding through email and phone and he was in touch with all of my other vendors. He even played a very important role in my coordination, which was great because my coordinator ended up bailing on us the morning of my wedding. He went above and beyond what he was paid to do and I will never forget his kindness. He is much more than a wedding dj...he's a friend. I guarantee that this guy is what you are looking for if you're looking for a good price and a great dj. I would give him more stars but 5 is all they allow!
