This review is way overdue - but, oh my goodness. Slate is absolutely a dream venue! We booked Slate one month before the pandemic started and they were communicative about ongoing restriction updates; thankfully, we booked so far in advance for our late 2021 wedding, we didn't have to move anything, but I'm sure they would have been easy to work with.
The photos honestly speak for themselves. This venue is a beautiful, blank slate that you truly can design into your dream wedding space. We had 85 guests with a seated dinner (but I believe a seated dinner can accommodate up to 100). AND - the beautiful wooden farm tables, any rounds or buffet tables you may need, the chairs, and a bar set up are included in the rental price!
I just cannot recommend this space enough if you are looking for a more intimate, naturally beautiful space.
Lost $5,000 during COVID with Slate. Even paid for a wedding coordinator that did not engage us. We booked for 100 people but Slate was only permitted 20 at that time and was happy to cash out our $5,000 deposit and did not offer any other option when we asked.
I do not recommend Slate!
SLATE is a beautiful venue for your wedding/special event. The space is truly a blank slate for you to make entirely your own. I was able to visit with my husband when they were preparing for a wedding and we both were immediately drawn to the industrial yet elegant feel of the space. We worked with Meredith, who, from the very beginning was friendly and professional. She was helpful and worked hard to ensure we had what we wanted. SLATE is a great space and your guests will love it!
The only reason I did not give SLATE a 5-star rating was because I felt the communication needs improvement. I had a lot of difficulty getting in touch to finalize plans and there were some aspects that were not communicated well to me that I would've like to know going in. I got the feeling if you didn't use their sister company "SHE" to plan your wedding then you didn't get the same attention to your needs. Regardless, I still would have chosen to be married here.
When I first started planning my December wedding, Slate was the only venue on my list. I wanted something chic and intimate and Slate delivers. Though it has that wonderful industrial feel, it can also be totally glamorous and romantic. The space really is a "blank slate" and couples are able to make it into anything they want - which is why we really loved it. Unlike some other venues, Slate does provide the tables and chairs - we're talking gorgeous farm tables and the chic clear acrylic chairs...not the run of the mill venue chairs that you try and hide with a cover. Even better, Slate gives you the flexibility to bring in any caterer and your own alcohol (big money saver). The venue was the perfect size for our 75 person wedding. We were able to have both the ceremony and reception in the same place, but the way the rooms are flipped really gives your guests a unique experience. We had a number of guests comment on the beauty and uniqueness of the space. The rental process was smooth and the uber professional staff is there to help you every step of the way. I would 100% get married there again and again if I could.
We visited Slate while it was still in construction a full year prior to our wedding. Despite it being unfinished and dirty, I could see myself getting married there. I had been dreaming of finding a space that had a chic loft style in the heart of the city. Knowing we would have around 100 guests, this was the exact space I had been wanting. It turned out even better with all the beautiful touches they made from the lighting, rental chairs and tables, and even the bathrooms. Alexis worked with us to do the floor plan and final walkthrough. She also responded promptly to questions we had along the way. Even though we didn’t meet any of the event staff prior to the wedding, they were professional and polite throughout the day. Our caterer also didn’t have any issues working out of the small prep space. We are grateful to have found such a beautiful venue to excecute our vision and begin our lives together. Thanks again, Alexis and the Slate team!
We first visited SLATE back in 2017 during their open house and were immediately pulled in by the hospitality of the staff and the feel of the space itself. Over the course of the year, working with Alexis was amazing as she truly helped us visualize our day and responded in a timely manner. When we dropped our belongings off the day before the wedding, the setup crew was even incredibly nice and was able to answer questions for us. Highly recommend this space and using SHE for your day-of-coordination. Our guests LOVED the venue and complimented that it was so unique!
Perfect.
