Scott, Chris, and Brian were amazing!! Aside from actually taking photos, they were always there to lend a helping hand. Brian spent much of his day helping me manage my flowers, train, and vail, all while carrying a large lighting fixture! Scott and Chris were so incredible to work with. They were always there to catch the action which is exactly what you want in a wedding photographer. Scott made sure to capture everything that we asked for and even the things we didn’t think to ask for, such as my 90yr old grandma making it out on the dance floor. He was extremely flexible with our chaos, include when we ran away from a photo to go sing our favorite song. Chris was kind, calm, and flexible when the groom was 30 minutes late to his photos because of golf 😂 He was able to capture all the Grooms details, even through that chaos. Scott & Chris literally stayed out on the dance floor all night too, capturing all the fun. If you’re looking for more than a bunch of posed portraits, and to truly remember the emotions of your special day, Scott and his team is where it’s at.

We couldn’t have asked for anyone better than Scott to make our vision come alive and ensure we won’t forget all of the good vibes on the day we said, ‘I do.’ Scott is so sincere in his desire to give you the most special memories from the most special day, and will work with couples to make that happen the way that they envision. He tailors the experience to you and makes sure that he is capturing what you want remembered from your wedding. He works with you through the entire process from creating a timeline for the day, to listing out all those special family portraits you want to make sure you don’t forget in all the crazy. Scott’s artistic portraits and dynamic actions shots from the day will take your breath away. And one of the best qualities is that Scott can be both invisible and omnipresent. You never even notice there is a camera in your face the whole day, but still somehow everything is captured. Once the wedding day is over, you breathe a sigh of relief, but also want to do it all over again (without any of the stress this time). With Scott, you get to do that. The first few images come through while still basking in your newlywed glory on your honeymoon. And then they start popping up on social media and you get fun little surprises before your full gallery is available. Now my favorite part – the REVEAL PARTY! Scott is truly unique because he doesn't leave you hanging once the wedding bells stop ringing. Instead of an impersonal email with a drive containing your images, you sit down with Scott and your new spouse and experience the whole day again. I highly recommend doing this in person if you're able to get the full experience on the big screen. Afterwards, you work with Scott designing the most beautiful album to ever exist. The quality is beyond anything I’ve ever seen in a wedding album and we will frequently look through it ourselves, show it to house guests and share it with our future children. Photographers are one of, if not the MOST important vendor for your wedding. Memories will fade of how wonderful the food was – and no one will remember that faulty mic moment, but they will love, cherish and look back fondly on the images from that day FOREVER! We truly view the album and images from our wedding as a family heirloom. Scott sets the bar high and will not disappoint. If you have any doubts, throw them out the window and book him immediately!

Scott was absolutely amazing to work with. From our engagement photos that were absolutely breathtaking to our wedding photos, we could not have picked a better person to work with. He was extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process and made sure he got all of our special moments and details documented for us. Scott is one amazing person! He made the whole process so easy. He helped keep me sane through the whole wedding process, I never had to worry about getting in contact with him or anything, he is on top of the ball every step of the way he has this down to a science. We met Scott a few years ago and wasted no time in hiring him as our wedding photographer. He introduced us to his style of photography during our engagement session; he was both methodical and spontaneous, and somehow also managed to remain patient and encouraging, which produced the most AMAZING engagement photos. Although our first wedding ended up being canceled due to unforeseen circumstances and the pandemic shutting the world down, Scott made every effort to accommodate us once we began planning again. He put a lot of time and effort into communicating with us and helping us to create a realistic timeline and provided invaluable advice ahead of the wedding. And then the wedding! From the moment the wedding party started getting ready, til the last drink was poured at the reception, Scott and his team were there capturing all of the priceless moments. His professionalism and friendly demeanor put everyone at ease and made him an instant hit with everyone at the wedding. Our wedding photos were everything we had hoped they would be and more; picture-perfect, candid, surprising, creative, and just downright beautiful. Hands down one of the best investments ever. Hiring Scott as our photographer was the best decision we made in planning our wedding. Before hiring Scott, we were seriously looking at another photographer who had a similar style. But when we met with the photographer, the match just didn’t feel right. Immediately upon reaching out to Scott, he sent us a video and told us he was excited to talk about working together. We chose to go with the full package (Macaron) and we’re SO happy we did - Scott was with us the whole day and made us, our wedding party, and our families feel at ease, resulting in incredible photos! After getting engaged in September 2021, I began planning my wedding for October 2022 and wanted to find a wedding photographer that was as unique as the wedding would be. My husband and I decided to have a small intimate wedding in Hershey, PA at The Hotel Hershey with our family of around 10 guests, but we still wanted to keep most of the pieces that a larger wedding has (a reception, cake cutting, first look, etc.). When it came to the look we were going for, we didn’t want the typical light and airy cookie-cutter photos many other wedding photographers provide. We wanted something vibrant and unique to us. I remember reaching out to Scott via his website and was surprised at how quickly I heard back from him via text with a video that introduced himself and what the next steps would be to see if we were a good fit for each other. My husband and I looked into a few other photographers in the area, but none of them came close to making us feel confident that they’d be able to provide us what we were envisioning. Plus, Scott’s work speaks for itself… Not only is he a very talented creative, but he’s also very easy going and enjoyable to work with. You can tell he really listens to what you want and figures out how to make it happen. The portal Scott uses for his clients is a great tool to stay organized and pay invoices. It also does a beautiful job of showcasing your wedding gallery after your wedding day. 😊 He also provides you a wedding timeline document as it gets closer to the wedding day, so you know what to expect the day of the wedding. This timeline is also a nice resource to lay out what family portrait photos you want. On the day of our wedding, it was so great to have Scott and his photography assistant, Mike by our side the entire day. No matter the size of the wedding, I think we can all agree that they can be stressful at times. However, Scott and Mike took away any “day of” stress for us by being on top of things. Our wedding ceremony was supposed to be outside, but the rain said that’s not happening. While I had in my head for months that we’d get so many photos outside in the nice Hershey gardens, I knew Scott would use his magic to create some amazing indoor shots – and I was not wrong! We even went outside in the rain for a short while to get some neat rain shots (thank you Mike for keeping us dry with the umbrella). After the wedding was over and my husband and I went off on our honeymoon, Scott reached out to congratulate us again on our special day and to let us know the next steps in terms of receiving our photos and creating our wedding album. I will say that the process Scott has in place for creating your wedding album is very well thought out. When it came time to our wedding album meeting, he had put our photos together in a way that told a beautiful visual story of how the day went. We then went through the album section by section to change around / remove any photos we wished, and it just made the overwhelming thought of creating a wedding album go so smoothly! The vendors you choose to work with for such an important life event is extremely important. My husband and I feel so lucky to have found Scott and we can’t wait to work with him again on future projects!

We used Scott (SMJ Photography) for our wedding- Unlike most photographers, Scott believes in your vision and in color - say goodbye to washed out wedding photos! The process was painless and he sets clear expectations at each step. When it comes time to the shoot you have all the creative freedom, but fear not, Scott is a mastermind of pulling together the best shot. Once the shoot is over, expect updates from him along the editing process and feel free to ask any questions. When customizing your album and picking the photos, again, the power is in your hands, but you likely won't need to make many changes since his team is *chefs kiss*. If you choose Scott, expect a partner to guide you along the process and bring out your creative side. I am forever raving about SMJ Photography! Obviously Scott’s jaw dropping photography was the reason we reached out to him but after connecting with him and getting to know him on a more personal level we knew we had to have him capture our special day. Scott and his team went above and beyond to meet our needs on our wedding day. He isn't just there to capture these amazing moments (which he does a phenomenal job doing), himself and his team assisted us in making decisions, taking care of our family members, and making sure everything went just right. If we could give Scott more than 5 stars, we would--and enthusiastically recommend him without hesitation. We had to postpone everything for over a year due to COVID, and Scott really took care of us. We couldn't have our original engagement photo shoot in spring 2020 as planned--so he held a Zoom happy hour for us instead. We enjoyed our actual engagement shoot with him October 2020--and had many of those photos as decor the day of our wedding. My husband and I got married last weekend, and Scott and his team went above and beyond for us that day. We would highly recommend SMJ Photography.  Planning a pandemic wedding had its own challenges, and Scott made it easy- keeping us up to speed and being empathetic and understanding throughout it all. I personally don't love being in front of the camera and I was able to be honest with Scott both in our engagement pictures and on the day of the wedding. He captured our laid back but loving personalities and helped us stay in the moment. The pictures turned out great and we are very happy with our choice!

Literally THE most professional, on-top-of-it, dedicated vendor we have ever worked with. From day one, Scott went over and above any expectations that we had for a photographer. Scott is the best vendor we worked with through our entire wedding planning and wedding day experience. He is this incredibly warm, personable, funny person who you would want to be part of your wedding day as a guest if he wasn't there as your photographer. He has a way of really building a connection with the couple so it makes things seem much more natural and not awkward for those of us not using to getting our photograph taken regularly. -Photography itself: Phenomenal. His work speaks for himself in this regard. He is truly a master of his craft, creating these big, beautiful dynamic shots that bring an amazing "bigger than life" sense to the subjects, while also being able to capture intimate moments and expressions as well. He works with you to create beautiful pictures, but he is legitimately making art. I'm always going to be following him on social media because some of his pictures are just so perfectly composed -Personality: Scott is just a great guy all around. On a very hectic and busy day, he makes it look effortless and fun and there's no question he's planned ahead but also rolls with the punches. You can see his gears going nonstop, looking for great opportunities for beautiful pics, but he never feels pushy, or rushes anyone. He exudes calm and relaxed and in control. For example, we were trying to get family photos and there was a screeching 2.5 year old banshee child running around all over and he was just there controlling the situation like a boss, no sweat, and smiling/laughing the entire time.  -Professionalism: He is completely up front about costs, additional expenses, and expectations from the get go. He sets everything up for success with the initial meeting, engagement session, and phone meetings. He tells you the benefits of upgrades without feeling pushy or upcharging. He has a great intuitive website through which you complete forms he needs, billing schedule, etc. Additionally, the electronic delivery system for the photos works great without a hitch. He is accessible and knowledgeable. Cannot recommend him enough, 11/10 stars, you seriously will have a great time with him and have some of the most amazing pictures at the end.

I don't think there are enough stars here to truly rate this photographer. Scott is a fantastic photographer and we were so lucky to have him capture our special day. We truly chose Scott because of his attention to detail. When you look at his work, he has a unique perspective that many other photographers do not have in relation to capturing color, personality, and emotions of the day. He is not afraid to go in for "the shot" but is never intrusive. You almost forget that he is there capturing your whole day they way he moves around so quietly. When we met with Scott the first time, he made it a point to get to know us and to make us feel comfortable in his home studio as he discussed his process and packages. One of the big selling points in his packages was the option to have a longer engagement shoot (many photographers do not give you 3 hours to do engagement shots), unlimited hours on the wedding day, and an anniversary photoshoot to use our way. Scott encouraged us to be ourselves and to be creative. During our engagement shoot, we had him and a second photographer traveling to three separate locations, and even climbing all of his equipment on a ladder to the roof of a baseball stadium to capture an epic sunset shot. He never batted an eye and was thrilled to take the journey with us. On our wedding day, he was a key component in making sure that we had what we needed. He arrived on time with his team. His team assisted in pinning boutonnieres, ensuring our grandparents had their flowers, and even stepped in to assist with the wedding ceremony timeline with our ceremony coordinator decided to be a no show. Scott understood that our first dance was going to be epic and special so he made sure to have a 360 degree setup with flashes to capture every moment, even burning out one of his flash bulbs mid-routine to capture it all. He made sure that we had something special in the end. His team had an awesome attention to detail and made us feel so comfortable the entire time! My favorite part of working with Scott is that he is completely transparent about his process and he treats all of his clients with respect like they are his own family. After we booked Scott as our photographer, he sent us a link for our own personal portal to download photos from our engagement shoot and wedding, to make and check payments, and to complete engagement and wedding day surveys. We loved having a vendor that was easy to work with and gave us a location to maintain all of our important documents. On multiple occasions we found ourselves saying, "why can't all of our vendors be like this?" In transparency, his services are not the cheapest, but they are worth every penny. Your photos are something you will have to cherish in the future, so make sure that you have someone who can do the job, is willing to be there all day, and will do it right! On a side note, he has a photo booth you can rent for use as well. This was a huge hit with our guests and worked wonderfully throughout the night! Ask about The Loose Booth!

It’s hard to explain how important a photographer is on the day of your wedding but in our case we knew that we wanted to have pictures that we were treasure forever What we really didn’t consider until later in the process is how much of a support team your photographers are. From the moment we met Scott we knew that he was our guy. He really took time to get to know us and make sure we were a good fit before even signing anything. We appreciated the personal touch and it became evident to us that photography is clearly beyond a job for Scott and his team. They are extremely professional but also so creative and fun. They were seriously my rock on my wedding day and took so much off my shoulders so I could just enjoy each moment. From making me genuinely laugh to organizing the bridal party to holding my belongings and making sure I stayed warm for outdoor photos, they were always there and I am so grateful. At the same time, they found a way to be “professionally invisible” so that each moment felt intimate. So many of our friends and family members remarked on how friendly Scott and Brian were throughout the night and how they blended in to the dance floor and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time! Beyond all of that are the pictures themselves. Scott truly has a gift and a unique ability to look through a lens and create a magical scene. He deserves every accolade he receives. We weren’t the type of people that wanted a ton of formal wedding photos-we wanted to capture candid and natural moments and get a few epic and amazing photos. With Scott and his team you are guaranteed to get a number of photos that will make your jaw drop and a smile to come to your face . We can’t recommend SMJ enough!!!

Booking Scott as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made regarding our wedding. His photography is absolutely stunning and his creative eye is so unique. I wanted a photographer that was comfortable shooting photos that aren’t typical, but I also wanted an experienced photographer who was comfortable handling all of the chaos that comes with a wedding. It is not an exaggeration to say that we loved every photo we got back! His entire team was professional and fun to work with. I also thought his pricing and packages were extremely reasonable considering his skill level and compared to other photographers we looked into before booking him. He was also very flexible with our specific needs - for example, our package came with an Engagement Photoshoot, but we already had one done so he worked with us and swapped that out for different items. We are so grateful we found him and are ecstatic that he captured so many incredible moments from our wedding day. Highly recommend!!

If we could give 10 stars, we would! We only met with one photographer and we instantly knew we wanted Scott to capture out big day! We connected instantly. Our initial meeting went amazing and we loved that he brought samples of his work to show us, both digital and print. We wanted someone who had shot at our venue (Cork Factory Hotel) and had a unique and artistic style. We didn't just want some beautiful photos, we wanted art and that's exactly what he delivered with our engagement shoot and wedding day. We knew photography was very important to us and we wanted to "splurge" on a photographer. It was worth every penny. The age old saying "you get what you pay for" is 1000% true. Scott may be a bit higher than the average photographer, but Scott isn't average by any means. His professionalism and passion for photography is unmatched. His was extremely timely in answering any questions we had, we got our photos back within the contracted time and he was very tech-savvy. We were able to communicate via video chat when we couldn't meet in person (we lived 2.5 hours apart). On the wedding day, Scott and his awesome team blended seamlessly into our day. Except for our photos before the ceremony, we hardly even knew they were there! Every photo was taken organically, nothing was "posed" or "re-created" except for our couples portraits which we were told what how to stand so that Scott could capture an epic photo. We kept to the photo timeline and everything was right on schedule. From the initial consultation to the album design and delivery, Scott was absolutely amazing and always gave 100%. We absolutely love our photos and our album and we cannot recommend SMJ Photography enough!

Scott and his team were absolutely amazing. Our wedding was this past July and as cliche as it sounds, it was the best day ever. Scott helped capture all the moments that were important to us and then some. Our pictures are fantastic and everyone that sees them says the same thing. I would hire him again and again! We had an absolutely amazing experience with Scott from start to finish. We went with Scott because his portfolio demonstrated that he excelled at capturing emotionally-charged, adventurous photos... and working in low-light. Given our engagement shoot and wedding plans, we knew that his skills would be the perfect fit. And boy did he deliver! Scott included an engagement shoot with our package and was incredibly patient with arranging re-shoots because we were dead set on riding in a hot air balloon for but the weather just wasn't cooperating for a while. Once we finally got up in the air, we could not have been more thrilled with our photos-- they were unique, gorgeous, professional, and timely! As our wedding season progressed, Scott was incredibly thorough and organized. He did a great job of specifying all the photos we wanted for our big day so we weren't scrambling with requests on the day of. He was always just a phone call away but he also has a great online portal with tools to help you view your contract, preference sheets, shoot lists, and orders that are accessible 24/7. Once the big day came, he was prompt, supportive, and flexible. He brought an excellent team with him-- a highly skilled 2nd shooter and assistant that really made our photos the cream of the crop. They really helped with lighting, covering concurrent events, and adjusting our looks. By having this team, I was assured that they captured every moment beautifully. They were able to stay engaged to capture each moment while staying in the background enough such that we never felt like they intruded on something personal. He got everything we wanted on our "must shoot list" and had no trouble with last minute requests for things I wanted pictures of like a handmade ring box from my grandfather. I also got great feedback from our venue and DJ about working with him. He worked very well with our other vendors to ensure a seamless day for us :) It's worth mentioning that we had a wintertime wedding at a local ski resort. He and his team were great sports about freezing away and walking through snow to get the pictures we wanted. They even rode a ski lift to help get some big epic getaway shots! After the big day, Scott worked tirelessly to edit our photos and design a beautiful album for us. He was incredibly polite and responsive for every single revision we requested... And I'm sheepish to admit how many revisions it was! Overall, excellent customer service to make sure that he was giving us the perfect product. In the end, we got a wedding album more beautiful than we imagined that captures the best day of our lives to date. I really worry that this review does not do him justice. Just do yourself a favor, book him before someone else does! You will not regret it!

Scott was the best choice we could have made in a photographer. He was professional and courteous. He made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, which I personally am not! Our album came out beautifully, as well as the print we invested in. I would recommend doing the engagement shoot which was a huge help to our wedding day. Scott was phenomenal from our very first interaction. He was very able to quickly pick out our different photographic styles, and blend the two into photos that we love and will have for a lifetime. I considered our photographer to be the most important vendor we would hire for the wedding, that being said; without question Scott was the best possible choice we could have made. From the first couple emails, to our consultation at his office, we all meshed instantly. He is funny, extremely sweet, and very serious about his work. One thing that I absolutely love about him, and his team (Chuck and Bryan), was that they always made sure you were having fun. We even got them involved in an old Scottish ceremony we did at the wedding (so, sorry guys, you're all part of the family now!). Scott did a fantastic job at our NYE wedding and on our engagement photos! He acted not only as the photographer on our wedding day, but also helped us organize a timeline and helped all of the pieces come together the day of. He traveled all the way to Beavertown, PA and chose 2 locations for our pre-wedding photos that turned out amazing. He also convinced us to do a first look, which is the best thing we could have done. The photo album and online album contain hundreds of photos. One suggestion is to really think about the important things for the day that you want captured and make it known to him in your consult so that it all gets in. I didn't do this and missed some photos of family that I was upset about.... this is no fault of Scott, but my own fault for not makin it known to him. Overall, we had a great experience with Scott and would recommend him to anyone worried about hiring a quality photographer.

Scott has been amazing to work with. He's very professional and detail oriented. Getting to know Scott during our video conferences and engagements pictures before our wedding really made us feel comfortable. The day of the wedding he helped all the guys put on the boutonnieres. I like how he created a timeline of the wedding that we used and could send out to the groomsmen and bridesmaids. We've seen a few sneak peeks of his photo's and they are just beautiful! Scott was a godsend on our wedding day. He and his second shooter were extremely professional and helped us get through the long day with no bumps in the road! Wow, where do I even begin to describe how awesome Scott and his team are! From the day that we booked him, Scott was extremely supportive and had great recommendations throughout the planning process. I am an extremely detailed person and it was so comforting to have all of the online resources that Scott provides. I was very nervous for our engagement pictures because posing can be super awkward, but Scott was so natural and picked up on our relationship so quickly! During our wedding day, his team made us both feel so comfortable and they treated our wedding party, family, and friends so well! Priscilla even had to pin the guys flowers. It was so great knowing that Scott had a schedule and helped us to stick to it, but also was flexible with timing. Eric and I, along with our wedding party, are complete goof balls. Scott got in the serious shots, but also allowed us to be our goofy old selves. Scott and Priscilla even got in our photo booth with us to take some hilarious shots!
