Located in downtown Okauchee, WI, Smoke on the Water offers a wealth of experiences unique to your event, to make it the most memorable event you could ever dream of. The building where Smoke on the Water BBQ Okauchee now resides has a long and storied history. It hosted a bowling alley in the 50s and a nightclub in the 90s. Joe Hennes and his wife Ellen purchased the property in December 2020. They brought their vision to life, providing a place for food, music, and fun. The property has many aesthetic features, to include a raised deck patio with views of Okauchee Lake, an intimate Lake Lounge for smaller parties, as well as below deck bar and event space that has 6 garage doors that open up to the lake. We have several piers that allow our visitors arrive by sea as well as by land. Below Deck, can accommodates up to 250 people. I recently had my wedding reception there and I would give it 10 stars if I could. From start to finish, the communication, planning, and attention to detail was excellent. We had a very positive experience with our tasting (Jeff is fantastic!) and the food at the reception was outstanding. Every one of my guests said the food was some of the best they'd ever had at a wedding. Joe and Jocelyn were very attentive throughout the event and made sure my husband and I had everything we needed. The facility is beautiful and well maintained, and the lake view at sunset can't be beat. I would highly recommend this venue!

Back in May, my husband (then fiancé) had lunch at Smoke on the Water and decided to go check out their newly renovated lower level. Within 30 seconds, we knew this was where we wanted to get married. It was so beautiful and just felt “like us”. With only 4 months until the wedding, you would think the process would be crazy and stressful, but not when you are working with Ellen and Joe. From our initial discussions to food tasting to final set-up, everything was seamless and stress free. Ellen and Joe have mastered their industry and know how to make the customer feel number one. The venue truly speaks for itself with 6 garage doors that open to the lake and allow nature to be the main décor. Ellen and her team knocked it out of the park with the wedding set-up and then hustled to change it out for dinner while our guests’ enjoyed cocktails and delicious hot and cold appetizers. Speaking of food, Chef Jeff is a genius with a smoker! Our guests raved about the brisket and pulled pork and many said the bread pudding was the best they ever had! What truly put it over the top was having Jeff and Joe on the buffet lines serving the food and supporting our guests. Ellen, Joe and their entire staff made the night so special and took care of every little detail. When our DJ was done for the night and our guests wanted to keep dancing, Joe let our friend Bluetooth into their speakers so the party could continue without a hitch. We can’t thank Joe, Ellen and their wonderful staff enough for making our night so memorable. The service was outstanding and the food was out of this world. My husband and I are honored to say we were the first couple to “christen” the lower level and be the first of many lucky couples to have their wedding/reception at Smoke on the Water.
