We have had four very special events at the Smoke Rise Village Inn, Kinnelon. I would say that it gets better every time but from our very first event every detail was actually perfect. A bridal shower, two weddings and a baby shower~ all different times of the year and each one so very special. Randy Polo, the wonderful Manager of Smoke Rise, is so detail oriented, responsive, a terrific listener and a very calming influence. Every detail at each of our events was taken care of beautifully. We knew that our celebrations would be exactly as we hoped for and more.
The venue is simply beautiful, in a peaceful setting that feels magical ...just as you would like your special day to be.

rri. They could not have been more professional and caring. They asked us questions about ourselves and what we were looking for on the day of our wedding. They were really interested in what we had to say. They put together a plan for us that would cater to our needs and our price range. Sherri kept in touch with us all throughout the process, leading up to the big day. There was a big selection of food to choose from. All the choices were amazing. Sherri and Cathy would talk regularly during the time leading up to the wedding and reception. The venue is beautiful, from inside to out and it is located in a beautiful setting. The inside was everything we were looking for. Sherri and Randy made the process go smoothly. When we came to the venue a couple days before, it looked stunning. On our wedding day, when we arrived at The Village Inn, Gloria (head of the wait staff) introduced herself and really took care of us with the appetizers and drinks during the cocktail hour. We felt like we were family to the entire staff. The cocktail hour food was delicious and our guests complimented how good everything was. Our buffet was loved by all who attended our special day. The thing that stands out to us, the most, was how the entire crew at this venue really cared so much and fulfilled our fantasy wedding . From day one, to the conclusion of our special day, every single person involved at the Smoke Rise Village Inn , made us feel like we were the only two people on this planet. Cathy and I would recommend this venue to anyone that is looking for the wedding of their dreams. If we could give them more than five stars, we would. I would also, highly recommend, Twin Oaks Entertainment(Mike) for your DJ needs. The people were on the dance floor, all night. ded for our wedding. My husband and I went to over a half dozen venues, and at the last minute my mom suggested we go check out Smoke Rise - I called Kelly and she could see us that afternoon. From the moment we met Kelly, it was an instant fit - I immediately felt like an individual bride, not just another couple, and I even felt like I was dealing with a friend. Kelly is prompt, organized and also flexible as my husband and I live in PA, but came back to my hometown to get married. When I felt stressed, she reassured me that we were on track. I could not have dreamt of a better person to work with for a day that truly did turn out to be one of the happiest days of my life.
We continue to get compliments about our wedding (it was over 3 months ago) about the venue, its food, the overall presentation - Kelly brought all my ideas to life and even added some special touches of her own. The staff throughout the evening were incredible - cheerful, kind and on the ball when it came to cocktail hour, drink service and dinner hour. I could not believe how seamlessly they worked. I did not even appreciate it until afterwards because I then realized so much was happening as I was living in the moment. Which I think is very important to recognize - I truly feel that I lived every moment of my wedding and that is all thanks to Kelly and Smoke Rise - they allowed me to be a bride and enjoy every second with my groom, family and closest friends.
I cannot recommend Smoke Rise Village Inn enough for your wedding - so if it makes sense for your location and what you're looking for please head on up and ask for Kelly! I promise you, you will not be disappointed!!

She is willing to offer direction and advice (we had never heard of card boxes, so thank goodness she asked and lent us one) but was super accommodating with whatever we decided. Being able to use the back room for our DIY decor projects the day before was a huge boon. The event itself was flawless, and we got so many compliments on how good everything looked and tasted. My heartfelt thanks to all the staff who worked late on a Sunday to give us the night of our dreams! In total, we paid just over $14k for a Sunday event, guest count ~55, ceremony onsite. Best deal we've heard of in the area. I'm crossing my fingers that someone invites me to a wedding here so that I can spend more time eating the food and enjoying the generous secondary seating areas!

they offer. She took us to the office and went over details with us and then offered us a full dinner to taste the food they serve - appetizer, entrees, drinks, and dessert for both of us. We fell in love with the "rustic" stone and wood decor, the amazing food, and of course their friendly, attentive restaurant staff. Kelly worked with our budget to come up with something that would work for everyone. She even brought in special alcohol requests for our German family. We were offered a tasting 2 months prior to our wedding to taste everything we picked out for our finalized menu and again Kelly made sure she was there to talk final details and anything else we may have needed. We had asked if we should hire a day of coordinator for set up and day of details but Kelly was on it, setting things up and even making us a customized photo screen on their monitor for the day and using details from our wedding website for the menu cards. We were given exclusive access to the venue the day of the wedding from 10a and Kelly was there with us for whatever we needed. Everything was perfect from top to bottom and our guests still can't stop talking about how amazing the food was and how beautiful the venue was. Do not sleep on this venue- it is a diamond in the rough!

Kelly, the catering manager, had assured me that her and the staff would get it all completed for us. I was a little nervous, just because there were a number of things I had planned to be set up, but WOW did they exceed expectations. Everything was perfect! It made me feel so relaxed during the event, which was truly such a great feeling. Kelly was so fantastic throughout the entire process. Prior to the event she walked me through all the options in detail and provided some great suggestions that really helped the event to come together! one bad thing to say! Although I am a relaxed person, I am very critical of customer service and have fairly high standards. From the start, Randy was extremely professional, organized, responsive, and friendly. He accommodated every request we had and made wedding planning seem almost easy. We did not have a hired wedding planner, just our vision and schedule. Randy ensured that every detail was taken care of--where we walked in, the ceremony set-up, and coordinating with our vendors. Our wedding day went perfectly. Any issues, nothing caused by Smoke Rise, were handled before we even knew anything happened. We had a personal attendant who helped make sure we ate and had the drinks we wanted. All our guests raved about the venue itself, the food (both quantity and quality), and the service. We honestly were blown away by how seamless and extraordinary everything was, and we are so grateful. We had so many guests tell us it was the best wedding they have ever been to. My wife desired a venue most guests wouldn't be familiar with and would be conducive to a smaller wedding (we had 100 guests and 200 is approximate capacity). I was familiar with Smoke Rise so I brought her to see the inn and it was love at first sight. It is intimate (one wedding at a time), definitely unique (it's an old converted dairy farm), and has lots of charm. In addition to the fine food and ambiance, one of its greatest attributes is the banquet manager, Kim Caputo. After five minutes of talking to her, it becomes crystal clear that she loves what she does and will treat your special day as if it's her own. From start to finish, Kim was there helping us map out the perfect party, offering useful suggestions, and always answering our questions promptly and accurately. She's a real pro and an amazing asset to the inn. I would strongly encourage anyone to look at Smoke Rise when deciding where to host their event. Our experience was first rate from start to finish and my wife and I cannot be happier. When you put so much time, money, and effort to throw the best party you can, the best reward, in my opinion, is the feedback from your guests. We have received nothing short of rave reviews and a number of our guests said it was the best wedding reception they've ever attended. We wouldn't haven't gotten such amazing feedback if Smoke Rise didn't deliver and they most certainly did. We can't wait to go back to celebrate our anniversary. Bravo!!!

ory” feel, and somewhere that we could be the only event on site. Smoke Rise was all that and more. What we loved so much about Smoke Rise was the comfortable, warm feeling throughout the venue and the ballroom. We really loved that we had the entire venue and grounds to ourselves which made us feel like it was truly our day. From the first time we toured the grounds, all the way through our food tasting, the last few days of scrambling around for the big day, to the very last moments of our reception, we always felt welcome, comfortable, and at ease with each step of the way. The Inn manager Randy was always very friendly and easy to work with and very quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. We never received “no” for an answer, and he was always helpful with brainstorming and making sure our wedding was everything we wanted it to be. The day of our wedding, all of the staff was so friendly and accommodating to us and all of our guests. Not to mention the food and drinks were fantastic! We went back for our 1 month wedding anniversary for dinner and were welcomed and treated just the same as on our wedding day by the staff. 5 stars from start to finish!

t be happier with how everything turned out; it was truly perfect. Right from the start Randy’s calm, easy-going personality put us at ease and we knew we were in good hands. Throughout the whole process he was available to help answer questions and guide us through with his expertise. Not only was it a smooth process and beautiful location, but the food was amazing and all of our guests keep telling us how much they enjoyed both cocktail hour and the main dinners. Another great perk is that you can celebrate your anniversaries at the Inn since it’s a restaurant as well. I 100% recommend this venue to any bride and groom looking for great food, a beautiful location and top notch treatment. I wish I could do it all over again!

Inn making it even more lovely and more up to date. The only downside we found was that the catering manager and staff are not as experienced in running big weddings. Not all of our requests/needs were fulfilled which was disappointing and which the bigger more well known venues do automatically. However-our wedding day was just perfect-the venue is beautiful and the food is fantastic. Everyone had a fabulous time there.

special day with elegance and panache. Randy and Laura, the banquet managers, worked with us to make the most of the time, before the storm hit. They started serving hors de ovres when our guests started arriving and opened the bar early, at no extra charge. The food at the Inn is well known for consistency and quality. This wedding was no exception. Even the wedge salad was fresh and crisp. They worked with us to make every detail of the historic dairy farm come alive. They named the signature drink, The Jersey Hurricane. Delicious. A day that we had all looked so forward to, could have been a complete disaster, due to the weather. With the professionalism, displayed by the employees of Smokerise, the hurricane only added to the celebration. We will remember that day with only wonderful memories. Thank you Randy, Laura, and your staff.
