Soldier Hollow Day Lodge is a rustic wedding venue and year-round activity center tucked in the majestic mountainside in Midway, Utah. The Day Lodge sits on 500 acres of rural landscape caressed by the Deer Creek Reservoir to the east and Wasatch Mountains to the west. Flexibility is key at Soldier Hollow. First established in 2002 for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, this historic lodge now plays host to events of all types, with the staff well-versed in creating your vision for your special day. You are free to choose from one of our preferred caterers or your own desired culinary team, as well as bartending service and other vendors to bring your wedding to life. NOTE: This review is for the Soldier Hollow Sports Discovery Center, not the Nordic Center - same support team though.
As the mother of the groom, and lead wedding planner, when our original venue notified us 3 weeks before the wedding that there had been a fire, and they would not be able to host the wedding, it was stressful! Thankfully, we were connected with Colleen from the Soldier Hollow Sports Discovery Center (not the Nordic Center).
Colleen was AMAZING! She immediately stepped up, scheduled a tour for that weekend, and assured us that the wedding was “no problem”. She was an excellent communicator, very responsive (even in the wee hours of the night) and provided excellent support throughout the planning process. In fact, in the short time that we knew her, we felt that she provided a level of support that we hadn’t experienced with the other venue. She was very action focused. On wedding day, we were fortunate to have the assistance of Kathryn. She was kind, calm, and checked-in with us regularly.
In addition to the planning support we received, the venue was gorgeous, inside-and-out! It was fresh and new, and covered EVERY detail we were looking for…all the way down to “nice” bathrooms. The outside provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony and pictures, the inside was perfect for dining, dancing, and the events of the day. We felt that we were granted a freedom at this venue that we didn’t have at the original venue…the stress was replaced with relief and excitement.
As far as recommended service opportunities for the future, it would have been nice to have the option for a “day of” wedding planner” to address any hurdles with vendors and ensure we stayed on schedule. Final clean-up was also our responsibility, it would have been nice to have the option to pay for this service. I think we would have been willing to pay a little more for these service options.
In the end, the fire at the original venue was a blessing, as we ended up celebrating this momentous occasion at a venue that surpassed that of the original and exceeded our expectations!

We LOVED the venue at Soldier Hollow! Colleen is amazing to work with as we did multiple site visits during the various seasons to visualize and plan the wedding. We created signs for wayfinding from the four way stop all the way to the parking lot to direct guests where the ceremony site is located.
There are multiple outdoor ceremony location sites available with the wrap around deck on the building as a backup option in case of weather.
We held our ceremony and dinner outside in late September and then moved inside for cake cutting, dessert and dancing which worked out incredibly well.
Colleen and team worked with our caterer and event staff on set up, back of house area, etc. We had 84 guests at our wedding and the venue can easily hold more than double that amount. I truly cannot be happier with how everything turned out!

The team at Soldier Hollow was so amazing. Colleen and Ali were there for all of my questions and totally supported my needs and vision for our wedding day. Could not have asked for better support and service from them. Would recommend a thousand times over and would do it all again here in a heartbeat.
The scenery was killer, the rooftop patio vibe was perfect, they did everything they promised and were great about setting expectations. I just am so thankful. Our guests loved the venue!!!

Soldier Hollow was amazing, the staff communicated through the entire planning process and quickly replied to any questions we had. Day of our wedding we knew what to expect and things were set up how we had previously discussed. Everything was beautiful and went exactly as planned. Colleen is great she really made sure to pay attention to the small details.

Soldier hollow is lovely. We loved having our wedding here. They were so responsive to our requests and questions leading up to the event. The new Olympic center on the property is stunning. Our guests loved the views and the location. We were one of the first weddings in the space so there were a couple glitches here and there but they should be easy for soldier hollow to iron out for future couples. Best mountain wedding experience we could have asked for!

We loved having our wedding at Soldier Hollow! Colleen was always easy to reach for any questions and that made it so nice for planning. The venue was beautiful with clear pretty garage doors that open as desired. The outdoor ceremony spot was also beautiful with mountain backdrop. They did a great job with setting up chairs and tables and having someone around should you need anything. 10/10 wedding venue. Small things to note are there is no fridge/freezer for ice so be prepared there, we had to use a car for power for the DJ outside, and the lights are programmed to turn off by midnight so make sure clean up is done by then! 🩷 all minor things that can easily be prepared for. We will recommend soldier hollow every time someone asks moving forward. Loved it. ❤️

We absolutely loved having our wedding at Soldier Hollow. Colleen was so helpful and was always willing to let us come look at the venue multiple times so we could create our dream wedding. It turned out so beautiful and it was so easy getting everything together. The day could not have gone more perfect and I am so glad we decided to do it at Solider Hollow.

We stumbled across soldier hollow by chance, and we are SO happy we did. Don't let their lack of advertising fool you- this place is a hidden gem- it's 30 mins from park city tucked in the mountains with an incredible back drop and even better weather. We were able to have our dream wedding at an amazing price and beautiful view! I could not recommend SH enough and have personally told Colleen (who I highly recommend working with) to give my number out to anyone unsure about this place- I promise you wont regret it.

Judy and the staff at Soldier Hollow were FANTASTIC! They were there before 9am with all the tables and chairs set up with the diagram we worked on together. We had the lodge for the whole day, so were able to then set up our simple flower arrangements and linens (these had to be ordered out). Judy and the staff were there all day to help with logistics, seating, clean up etc. And her and here staff were so friendly and upbeat! The lodge itself was gorgeous, rustic, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountains and a wooden deck that wrapped around the venue. We had our ceremony outside on the lawn and then moved up to the lodge for the reception. We could not have asked for a more beautiful venue or staff!
After looking over Soldier Hollows Vendor page I want to add that they DO have:
- dressing rooms
- liability insurance
- indoor and outdoor options
- handicap accessibility (we had family in wheel chairs)
- outdoor covered (the large deck that can even hold a 70+ wedding ceremony- which was our back up if it rained)
