ur original venue notified us 3 weeks before the wedding that there had been a fire, and they would not be able to host the wedding, it was stressful! Thankfully, we were connected with Colleen from the Soldier Hollow Sports Discovery Center (not the Nordic Center). Colleen was AMAZING! She immediately stepped up, scheduled a tour for that weekend, and assured us that the wedding was “no problem”. She was an excellent communicator, very responsive (even in the wee hours of the night) and provided excellent support throughout the planning process. In fact, in the short time that we knew her, we felt that she provided a level of support that we hadn’t experienced with the other venue. She was very action focused. On wedding day, we were fortunate to have the assistance of Kathryn. She was kind, calm, and checked-in with us regularly. In addition to the planning support we received, the venue was gorgeous, inside-and-out! It was fresh and new, and covered EVERY detail we were looking for…all the way down to “nice” bathrooms. The outside provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony and pictures, the inside was perfect for dining, dancing, and the events of the day. We felt that we were granted a freedom at this venue that we didn’t have at the original venue…the stress was replaced with relief and excitement. As far as recommended service opportunities for the future, it would have been nice to have the option for a “day of” wedding planner” to address any hurdles with vendors and ensure we stayed on schedule. Final clean-up was also our responsibility, it would have been nice to have the option to pay for this service. I think we would have been willing to pay a little more for these service options. In the end, the fire at the original venue was a blessing, as we ended up celebrating this momentous occasion at a venue that surpassed that of the original and exceeded our expectations! We’re very grateful for the team at Soldier Hollow Sports Discovery Center!

for wayfinding from the four way stop all the way to the parking lot to direct guests where the ceremony site is located. There are multiple outdoor ceremony location sites available with the wrap around deck on the building as a backup option in case of weather. We held our ceremony and dinner outside in late September and then moved inside for cake cutting, dessert and dancing which worked out incredibly well. Colleen and team worked with our caterer and event staff on set up, back of house area, etc. We had 84 guests at our wedding and the venue can easily hold more than double that amount. I truly cannot be happier with how everything turned out!

arage doors that open as desired. The outdoor ceremony spot was also beautiful with mountain backdrop. They did a great job with setting up chairs and tables and having someone around should you need anything. 10/10 wedding venue. Small things to note are there is no fridge/freezer for ice so be prepared there, we had to use a car for power for the DJ outside, and the lights are programmed to turn off by midnight so make sure clean up is done by then! 🩷 all minor things that can easily be prepared for. We will recommend soldier hollow every time someone asks moving forward. Loved it. ❤️

the whole day, so were able to then set up our simple flower arrangements and linens (these had to be ordered out). Judy and the staff were there all day to help with logistics, seating, clean up etc. And her and here staff were so friendly and upbeat! The lodge itself was gorgeous, rustic, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountains and a wooden deck that wrapped around the venue. We had our ceremony outside on the lawn and then moved up to the lodge for the reception. We could not have asked for a more beautiful venue or staff! After looking over Soldier Hollows Vendor page I want to add that they DO have: - dressing rooms - liability insurance - indoor and outdoor options - handicap accessibility (we had family in wheel chairs) - outdoor covered (the large deck that can even hold a 70+ wedding ceremony- which was our back up if it rained) - wireless internet they DO NOT have : - accommodations on site
