2020 pandemic we had to change our plans not just once but 3 different times including 3 different venues to adapt to the conditions and the concerns of our guests. Kayla had assembled a dream team of vendors and somehow found a way to adapt our plans no matter how last minute changes had to be made. Kayla's creativity, knowledge, and experience with vendors all over AZ helped pull together the most beautiful night. Despite making so many changes, Kayla was able to keep our vision of our dream wedding in the forefront despite guest number and venue changes. Even though it may have been our plan C, the night felt like it was supposed to be that way all along. She truly made miracles happen. She stayed on top of everything throughout the planning process and even went above and beyond and picked up my wedding dress for me and put it in my hotel room the day before the wedding because I had family in town. She also did sweet little errands for my groom to help surprise me on the wedding day. I can’t detail enough how PERFECT our wedding day was thanks to Kayla and her amazing team who was ensuring everything was setup correctly and ran smoothly. We also had Noelle from SLIC who stayed with me personally on the day of to help me with my dress, tell me where to be when I needed to be there, made sure I drank water and even hand me my lipstick when I needed to reapply. She was so sweet and I don’t know what I would’ve done without her! I know everyone always has stories of what went wrong on their wedding day, but we didn’t have a single thing go wrong. It was planned perfectly, and our day was a literal fairytale. At the end of the night, we walked into our honeymoon suite to find champagne, food and slices of our wedding cake. They also made sure any décor items we brought in personally were picked up and boxed waiting in our room for us. We had so many people tell us it was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever been to and apart from all the décor, the night had such a strong feeling of love and family and I also thank Kayla for that as the emotion of the day was my biggest priority. The day of, I felt like I just floated through the entire day. People came and vendors set up, and I just got to completely enjoy myself and be present in every moment without a single worry. The whole weekend was so magical, and dreamy in every way possible. Everyone from my husband, to my parents, and siblings just kept saying how easy the whole process has been and how we seem so relaxed and calm (which is exactly what we were!!), and that’s all we could have ever asked for! opted to not hire a full service planner because we went the non-stereotypical wedding route. Instead of floral, we worked with Moon Valley Nurseries to select cacti/succulents that would serve as wedding decor. Post-wedding all of these plants are being repurposed/planted in our yard. We found it wasteful to hire a florist for a minimum of $3,500 for florals that would just die after our wedding. We were very excited about our idea and Moon Valley really helped us pick out the perfect cacti. The reason I gave three stars here is because we went through so much ourselves (time and money) to make our “different” wedding vision come to life, and when the time came for our wedding, these decor pieces were missing from our set up. Our SLIC contract didn’t specify any restrictions, etc. When we had our meeting with SLIC a week out, we were hit with restrictions, and had a feeling our decor vision wasn’t going to be able to come to life the way we anticipated. Unfortunately, we had to leave our two larger cacti behind at home (3-4 feet tall) and I didn’t see that the other two larger cacti (1 foot) didn’t make it to the wedding either. If you’re looking to use SLIC to simply set out pictures, smaller signage, and place cards this package would work for you. However, if you have larger items like I described above, I would not recommend their service.

My husband and I invested in a wedding planner because we are the only ones who live in Phoenix. We moved here 2 years ago from Ohio and knew that we needed support as all of our friends and family are in the midwest and on the east coast. Our wedding was January 18th, 2019 with 150 guests, at the Royal Palms Resort. I interviewed 7 wedding planners and did heavy research. Kayla was my third meeting of the seven. What set Some Like It Classic apart: Regular down to earth women, and Kayla specifically is a behind-the-scenes professional who is truly one of the most selfless people that I have ever met in this industry. She has great relationships with all of the vendors across the valley, she is organized, and she helps bring your vision to life without being pushy (and when we were torn on certain decisions, we asked for her opinion and she was SO helpful in always being honest with us when we needed her support the most). Her detailed timelines kept us on schedule and she thought of EVERYTHING: from bringing my dad the microphone before his speech and reminding him to invite me up to dance at the end to remembering my jumpsuit I wanted to change into so I didn’t have to go back to the hotel room mid-wedding. We did not have to worry about one single detail from the whole weekend. It was incredible (and I am a very anxious planner myself). She is also amazing when it comes to the financial/contracts piece. She reads everything with a fine tooth comb, and is willing to fight for her clients to make sure you are getting high quality and value from each vendor. We had a strict budget and she kept us within that…and WOW did she help us choose vendors that would get us the highest value and quality for our money. She is calm, which also helps in this process with so much to think about:) Long story short, she made our wedding weekend the best ever and goes above and beyond: She came with me to my dress fitting since my mom lives in Ohio, she ran to our welcome party location to make sure everything was set up perfectly (even though she wasn’t planning our welcome party). She helped us order welcome bags when we had no clue where to look, the list is endless. If you are looking for someone who makes it truly EASY in all ways, there is truly no one better. We had fun in the process thanks to her too:) As I said, I met with seven wedding planners and there is no one better than this company and Kayla. I would recommend her and her team over and over again!

It was a small detail, but I think it speaks volumes about why hiring a wedding planner is so helpful. There are so many options available, it can be paralyzing. Having someone who can help you make the decisions that will bring your vision to life is invaluable. The day of coordination is what originally sold me on hiring a planner. Kayla, Stephanie, and the SLIC team took care of the decor set up, take down, and everything in between. One complication that we ran into day of was that the arch delivery guy wasn't answering his phone. So a couple of hours before ceremony Stephanie and Kayla worked with the rental company to secure a new arch. I knew NOTHING about this till days later when I finally asked about why the arch was different than the one I had chosen. The fact that I had no idea any of this was going on makes me so grateful that we hired Some Like it Classic! They truly are the best!

had just as many decisions to make as a wedding reception, just on a smaller scale. When I learned that the wedding would be in Phoenix, Arizona, the bride’s hometown, I knew it would be necessary to hire a wedding planner primarily to recommend vendors but also to be my voice and legs. My future daughter-in-law recommended SLIC and that was a welcome recommendation since she hired them as well for the wedding reception. It was important to me that the rehearsal dinner had its own signature theme and not just a mini version of the wedding reception. It was opportune that Kayla was knowledgeable of the wedding plans so if there were overlaps we could make changes if needed, and there were a few that occurred. I definitely had my own vision for the rehearsal dinner, and living several states away from Arizona, I had to trust Kayla that she would bring my vision to life. I flew to Phoenix three times for the planning process and each time Kayla had organized in advance meetings with vendors as well as our individual meetings at her office. After my visits in Phoenix if I had a question or concern Kayla was only a phone call away and I always felt that my rehearsal dinner was the only function on her plate. Looking back she probably had a wedding every weekend but that never entered my mind because she makes you feel that your event was the only thing on her calendar. When the big day finally came and family and friends were arriving the last thing you want to do is to be running around following up with vendors, making sure deliveries are on time and being the go-to-person. Having Kayla on my team was the best decision I made. This is when you can sit back and enjoy the evening as a proud parent because Kayla was making sure everything was perfect. When I had silly ideas, Kayla would reply saying things like "this is more on trend" or pin various alternatives on Pinterest. She was never pushy, but still helped guide me in creating a vision I loved. I also have to compliment Kayla on her readiness to have in person meetings when necessary. It always felt as if she were available to help.

Ashton, I knew she would be the perfect planner and coordinator! She got my vision within minutes and I felt totally comfortable with her handling my wedding from that moment on. I did the Luck be a Lady package and one of the things I like most about Some Like It Classic, is that they were there to perform any task needed in order to make the day smoother for me. I contacted a few other planners/coordinators that had certain tasks they wouldn't do, which leaves you with the question of if you need something desperately on the day of, will they not do it because "it's not part of your package." I didn't have to worry about this at all with Ashton and Stephanie and for that I am so grateful! Everything went beautifully on my wedding day and I couldn't have asked for anything better. Ashton handled everything at the venue and Stephanie took care of us all getting ready and throughout the wedding. They went above and beyond in numerous ways, including dealing with an emergency; so much so, that I barely remember it even happened! Whitney Lewis Fancher was our lead planner and she kicked off our first meeting with the checklist we needed to get started! We were a pretty organized couple, yet having her keep us on track, come back to us with ideas, creativity, and selecting the right vendors, really made the difference. We had a Glamourous Affair (for 91 out of town guests) and Whitney and the Assistants and Interns, kept so many details moving seamlessless that we could truly enjoy each moment of our wedding and not worry about what was happening next. We have at least a dozen vendors and sub-contractors, doing quick turnarounds, and it was just so amazingly perfect. We couldn't be more happy with the entire team. e US and Canada. This was a destination wedding for many but with the bride a groom in town we were good to go with a Day Of coordinator. Then, a few months into their engagement, our daughter was moved to Chicago! The choice to have SLIC and Amina create and work without anyone there...was the best decision. Her communication, dedication and detail work was outstanding. Amina Garrison worked flawlessly with the vendors, venue and our daughter and now son in law to keep everything on track. SLIC emailed me detailed costs and when we arrived a few months before the wedding, SLIC along with the venue and floral, created perfect mock ups of tables and detailed drawings of where band, stage and lighting as well as wedding location would look like. Time lines of vintage car arrivals, make up and hair professionals, grooms room coordination, grandmother corsages pinned, golf cart to transport bride and maids, collecting cash envelopes and keeping safe., holding on to vendor checks for me and delivering at end of night. I have forgotten many things..but it was SLIC that helped make this day the perfect memory for our daughter, son in law and for us. There was no anxiety on my part as clear and concise estimates of costs were communicated constantly. I found it hard to believe we had hired a Day Of coordinator...SLIC was far more hands on an available then i had imagined. I hope this helps other MOB make a decision and feel comfortable working with this professional and excellent team.

There is no way we could have gotten through this process (and across the country) without their endless guidance and patience with us. The day of the wedding was perfect as well. The SLIC girls were sweet, encouraging, on top of everything, and really allowed me to focus on getting ready, getting married and just enjoying the day. I don't think I had a single worry during the day past the thought of seeing my new husband and celebrating our friends - how it really should be!

They took care of everything, from the most detailed time line any vendor has ever seen (it seriously is a work of art!) to pre-wedding set up, to clean up, family portrait arrangement and rehearsal. I would HIGHLY recommend Amina and Whitney from Some Like it Classic it anyone and everyone who is looking for a wedding planning. Amina and Whitney are seriously the best. I just love them! They will take your wedding to the next level and allow you to focus on marrying your significant other. Do yourself, your sanity and your wedding a favor and book these fabulous ladies! I promise you won't regret it.

Here's why: Amina was neither organized nor prompt in responding to emails. We often had to send her follow-up emails after waiting several days. When she finally replied, she attributed the wait to non-responsiveness on the part of the vendor, but it would have been helpful to have her at least first respond and confirm that she is working on the question. Amina's responses were often scattered and incomplete. For example, she would reply to only half the questions in one email, or she would reply to questions from an earlier email in a separate thread about a totally unrelated topic. Amina was out of the office for two weeks over the summer, but we had not been given a heads up about this and only learned about it when we received her automated reply. Amina would also forget things we've told her before, even when we were only weeks away from the wedding (e.g., we will have signed the marriage certificate before the ceremony). There was not clear accountability in terms of Amina's responsibilities with vendors. Our understanding from the beginning was that she would be the primary contact for vendors and communicate directly with them on what we wanted. As we got closer to the wedding, she shifted more of these responsibilities onto us, oftentimes without clearly letting us know that the responsibilities had somehow changed. Overall, I would not recommend Amina's services. This review is for Amina only and does not extend to the rest of the wedding planners at SLIC.
