All you need to know about Something Blu is that we are writing this 5-star review at 7:00 a.m. the morning after our wedding. The actual thought process was: wake up after three hours of sleep, make coffee, and wax poetic about how amazing th...is band is.
We had a Christmas wedding, and from the moment I told Logan (the MC and primary contact) that I was going for "festive AF," he and the band were totally on board. They learned not only esoteric Christmas songs for me (yes, those exist), but surprised me with a couple other classics! Logan made the lead up to the wedding virtually stress-free -- we were impressed by his organization, professionalism, and follow ups (but never annoying follow ups).
On the day of, the band was incredibly receptive to the atmosphere we wanted to create (pure, unbridled fun) and WHOA did they deliver. They weren't just a wedding band, they were entertainers. They got out into the crowd, they made friends with our guests, and their energy spurred one guest (who wasn't even that drunk) to do an actual cartwheel on the dance floor.
Something Blu's range and versatility is insane. They learned for us - and flawlessly executed - songs by John Legend, Rascal Flatts, the Foo Fighters, Ray Charles, Jason Mraz, and Nat King Cole. Our law school friends have a tradition of obnoxiously demanding "Africa" by Toto, and it's easy for DJs to honor that request. But these guys, despite having no idea this request was coming, dug into their wayback machine and played. The. Song. And killed it! There is nothing they can't do, and nothing they can't put their own, unique spin on.
All night people were coming up to us and raving about the band. Our photographer, who herself has done hundreds of weddings, said this was the best wedding band she has ever seen - and wants to book them for her son's wedding (... it's not clear he is even engaged yet).
We can't say enough great things about these guys, their talent, and their energy. Stop looking and book them now.
