hat played into the vibrant aesthetic of our venue, and complimented the varying colors of my bridesmaids’ dresses. When I spoke with Debra at Songbird Florals about my vision for wedding day florals, she not only assured me that she was up to the task, but was so enthusiastic about my ideas that I knew she was the right person to bring it to life. She even agreed to do an additional round of florals for a religious ceremony we had the day before our big celebration.
I first got a taste of Debra’s work at my bridal shower, where she put together gorgeous springtime bud vases, and it only made me more excited for our big day. She is an expert with color and design, and her work elevates a space in the most elegant way. From that point forward, I was so excited to see what she would do on our wedding day, and she completely smashed my expectations out of the park. The first piece I saw was my bouquet, and it truly took my breath away. The way that she perfectly blended all of our wedding colors and celebrated the natural beauty of the flowers was truly expert level work. The bridesmaids’ bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres all echoed that design and created a really beautiful and cohesive style across the entire wedding party and family members.
For our ceremony, I envisioned a grounded floral arch alongside aisle pieces, and Debra’s execution of this vision was flawless. During the cocktail hour, there were bud vases throughout the space containing stems of the flowers included in the other floral displays. Debra herself transferred the pieces from the ceremony into the ballroom for the sweetheart table at the reception, where there were stunning, unique centerpieces on every table. I really appreciated this level of detail and care.
Throughout the entire day, the florals created an absolutely exquisite atmosphere for our wedding. Many of our guests commented that they were the most beautiful wedding florals they had ever seen. They really contributed to a cohesive design aesthetic across each event of our wedding day. Debra truly brought my vision to life in a manner even more beautiful that I had envisioned, and she did so professionally and enthusiastically. I searched far and wide for a florist for my recent August, Newport wedding, coming up short far too many times. Hiring Debra was by far the greatest decision I made. I was immediately put at ease after I met her for the first time. She was the first florist who actually listened intently to what I was looking for, understood my vision and didn’t tell me no. And to top it off, she was the only florist who didn’t roll her eyes at my budget. There was no doubt in my mind that I had to work with her.
Debra was the sweetest most humble woman and incredibly easy to work with. I looked at her work a lot in the months leading up to my big day and knew my flowers would be beautiful, but I could never have imagined how absolutely amazing they would be that day. We got married at Castle Hill Inn in Newport RI this past Memorial Day. We are a very colorful couple in general and she made unique and creative arrangements that reflected our personalities perfectly! Our guests are still in awe of how amazing the flowers were at our wedding. Debra was even able to repurpose our ceremony flowers hanging on the chairs by moving them into the reception hall near the bar and dessert areas. She was quick to accommodate our indoor (plan B) ceremony when it started raining the day of our wedding. Also repurposing the arch flowers onto our head table for the reception.
