orth. The owner, Johannes, is an innkeeper tour-de-force. He is NOT, contrary to other reviews, cold and rude, but rather, an incredibly efficient professional, who loves his job and maintains a high standard of service. He does not bombard you with idle chitchat but rather stands aside to gauge your needs, while juggling the phones, check ins, and cooking these amazing gourmet dinners and baking exquisite pastries and desserts. It is clear that as the owner, Johannes takes immense pride in his cooking and service, and frankly, I felt we got more than what we paid for. Chatting with him during our complimentary wine tasting, we learned that he has over 20 years hotel industry experience, and that he has lived all over the world. It made us even more grateful that he chose to settle so close to us so we can choose to return for a little escape from Silicon Valley madness. I personally loved that he remembered that I am from Singapore after our very first conversation and we were able to exchange stories of Asian life. In addition to the rooms and meals, we thoroughly enjoyed our spa treatments, the indoor jacuzzi, and the topper - the horseback riding located on property - the stables are at the back of the villa. The guide, David, is a real cowboy, whose love for his horses shows. He gave us wonderful hour guided horseback ride around the area, and his horses were incredibly disciplined and well cared-for.
