Sophie was fantastic! She was great with direction, which helped our final photos turn out beautifully (I work in the fashion/photo industry and when the photographer does not give good direction, the photos always suffer)!! I sent her a mood board of the look and feel I wanted for my images, and she delivered! She was also good at herding cats, which was excellent because there was so much going on. She knew her shots and what she needed to make those happen, and she made sure she got them. From the beginning, she was easy to work with and I knew our styles would fit well together. She showed up armed with multiple cameras and she did not disappoint!

Sophie is lovely and extremely talented! Her photography style is natural and whimsical, while being technically sound. The lighting, image quality, and small moments she was able to capture set her above many other photographers in my eyes. She is easy to communicate with and made our shoot feel comfortable and like we could be ourselves (and that says a lot coming from two people who feel very awkward in front of a camera)! HIGHLY recommend.

Sophie is the absolute best and was a delight to work with! We fell in love with her photography style and were not disappointed. She is a true professional start to finish and was able to capture everything we wanted without us even realizing it half the time (even my mom didn't realize she was around for key photo moments because she's that stealthy!) I usually hate having my photo taken but Sophie made it really laid back and easy going, even during the photo line with the wedding party and guests. She's also an effective and charming wrangler for stubborn groomsmen or family members who can be hard to corral :) Would HIGHLY recommend Sophie as a wedding photographer, or for any wedding related photo needs/events. She is a great person and a quality photographer.

First things first I never do reviews ( just because I hate writing), but I really think Sophie deserves one. I knew first hand Sophie was the photographer for me and my now husband. She was referred to me by one of my best friends who is also a photographer. I did talk to a few others, but the conversation didn’t flow like it did with Sophie. It felt like you were talking to your friend (that I never met). And not to mention her photos were phenomenal. I first time I ever met Sophie was at my mothers house the day of my wedding. I was nervous about the pictures being taken there because it is an older house. The lighting was not too good and had a lot of small spaces, but I knew it would mean a lot to my mother. Sophie knew that too. She would comment earlier in the month how special it was going to be to do them there and she was right. She captured every moment perfectly while we were getting ready. She made everything work that I thought wouldn’t. I can go on and on about the moments Sophie captured, but that would take forever. Her cueing was as absolutely awesome. She made us genuinely laugh and smile for our photos. Also kept some of the wedding party in check! The second shooter she had with her was pretty cool as well! I could not thank her enough for making my day that much better!

Sophie is amazing! We booked her very last minute after a different photographer cancelled on us due to inclement weather, and she was the calming and talented presence that we needed. The weather was also questionable on the day that we shot with Sophie, but she worked with us to figure a good rain option, and was flexible and easy going when we texted her to change the order of the locations on the way to the shoot to avoid the rain. The shoot itself was SO FUN and not awkward at all, which was a concern I had going in. It just felt like we were hanging out with a friend, who happened to snap the most beautiful and natural photos of us that truly capture who we are as a couple. Sophie was the perfect photographer from day one. She’s talented, organized, and a blast to work with. We cannot recommend her enough! When we started planning we knew finding the right photographer was essential to making our wedding a success (translation: we were very picky). We had looked through a number of portfolios, but hadn’t seen anything that resonated with us. Everything we saw looked stodgy or hackneyed, and nothing quite felt like our style. Our planner had worked with Sophie at a few other weddings and told us to look her up. We immediately fell in love with Sophie’s dynamic and naturalistic style. There was a directness and simplicity to her photos that heightened the moments she captured. They weren’t overly stuffy or posed, they instead let the individuality of each couple shine. We scheduled a call and she immediately started chatting about aesthetic we were looking and how she could amplify it. We were sold! We started with engagement photos in New Orleans. We had a vague idea of the places we wanted to capture, but she put together a thorough sequence of locales and shots by time of day to get the best lighting possible. It worked out beautifully; we started the afternoon walking through the lower garden district and into downtown, spent sunset to dusk on the ferry to Algiers, and finished the night riding a streetcar with the city lights behind us. As someone who’s not very comfortable in front of a camera, I was nervous about how things would play out, but Sophie was a total pro and made it a lot of fun. Leading up to the big day, Sophie put a lot of time into planning and scheduling the events so she could shoot things naturally as they unfolded. She put together an amazingly detailed guide for the day. I’m so thankful she did that—I had no appreciation for how chaotic things would be once the day was in motion. Things happened so fast, and through it all, Sophie was warm, friendly, and a total professional. She was assertive but not intrusive. She wasn’t afraid to get people together and make things happen, but didn’t force any awkward/cheesy staging. She also did a great job getting shots of everyone we invited, along with a short list of specific pairs and groups. We had a first batch of photos almost immediately, and they were stunning. The complete set came shortly after and Sophie made sure we were 100% satisfied with every detail. It’s been a couple months now, but people are still talking about our photos!

I can't imagine working with a better wedding photographer than Sophie Berard. She checks every box: immensely talented, communicative, organized, straightforward/transparent/fair pricing, etc. Plus she is a GEM of a person; authentic, kind and really passionate about what she does. Our wedding pictures are beyond anything we could have ever hoped for. They are full of the life, light and love we felt at our wedding all thanks to Sophie's talent and hard work. Sophie really takes the time to get to know you as a couple. She scheduled several calls to talk through all of the details and make sure she captured what we wanted. She is also incredibly flexible! I was a little (maybe very) disorganized the day of our wedding and did not stick to the timeline. Sophie handled it with such grace and professionalism and somehow managed to get the photos we wanted before the wedding without us being late to the ceremony. I really can't say enough good things about her and hope you consider her the next time you need a photographer!

Sophie is everything my wife and I imagined we wanted in a photographer and then some. I was first introduced to Sophie when I was planning a surprise engagement in New Orleans, the engagement planner recommended her to us. The surprise engagement was initially going to be a smaller event that turned into a larger one. From the very beginning all while communicating over long-distance, Sophie was beyond professional and punctual. She communicated in a thorough, detailed manner. Most notably about our interactions with Sophie, she has a natural ease about her which made my wife and me very comfortable. We laughed a lot with her and never once felt pressured to be a certain way or do something we weren't comfortable with. We haven't been apart of many photoshoots and one of my biggest concerns was looking unnatural or it appearing too staged. Our engagement photos turned out better than anything we ever expected-- so good that we even flew her up to our home in Anchorage, Alaska to shoot our outdoor wedding the following year. A lot of details went into flying to another location, dealing with our anxieties, dealing with our guests who also traveled from afar, adapting to family requests, adjusting to our last-minute changes, and still shooting the most memorable day of our life with everchanging lighting and unknown locations. The moments she captured will forever live on because of her genius abilities. If you have a chance to book Sophie, consider yourself lucky.

We couldn’t have dreamt of a better experience with Sophie leading up to and on our wedding day - the whole process was easy and fun. As mother of the bride, so much attention to detail must be left to the professionals while one's own daughter takes center stage. Throughout the wedding day, Sophie captured important moments. Sophie was more amazing than I could have imagined! I was living in MO but getting married in LA so we spoke on the phone months before even meeting in person. It felt like chatting with an old friend! She made me feel so comfortable on my wedding day! And of course, the pictures came out absolutely perfect! Helping my daughter plan her wedding was one of the most joyful times of my life. Sophie’s presence and direction throughout the process were surely a blessing. Choosing Sophie to photograph our wedding was one of the best wedding choices we made. She is incredible. We hadn't originally planned to have engagement photos done, but by chance Sophie was planning to be out near our home in the Pacific NW and we couldn't resist. At first meeting, we knew we had made the right choice and that was confirmed after spending 8 hours together road-tripping to a picturesque spot on the OR coast where she captured the most dreamy engagement photos. If you have a chance to do engagement shots with Sophie, do it! When Sophie arrived at our wedding months later it was like seeing an old friend. She is so kind, funny, and makes is so easy to forget the camera is there allowing her to capture authentic moments and emotions. The photos she took from the wedding are amazing, looking through the gallery immediately transported us back to the day. Nothing felt posed or forced, which was exactly what we wanted. Sophie photographed our rehearsal dinner and wedding. I couldn't have been happier with the photos. I explained ahead of time I didn't want too many posed shots, instead seeking more candids of everyone having fun and enjoying each other's company. Not only did she nail it, she created beautiful, magical photos that truly captured the feeling of joy my now husband and I felt that whole day. Sophie and I met one time in New Orleans through mutual friends and I was instantly captivated by her presence and her artwork. We talked about painting and photography and I knew I had found a kindred spirit. We continued to follow eachother via instagram from afar and when I got engaged, I HAD to ask if she would be willing to travel to Houston to photograph our day because I respect her tremendously as an artist and hey, what a great way to collect her work! I am so grateful that she agreed. Sophie was graceful, professional, kind, calm, and assertive. During the planning, she was patient with our incessant (neurotic?) adjustments of the photo list and timeline. The bridal pictures she took were beautiful and powerful, because she herself knows that depth. During the wedding day, she used brilliant prompts to get us all to laugh sincerely and made the photo sessions a fun, earnest, and love filled experience. THEN, the pictures came soon after, and we were floored with the beautiful framing, lighting, and the painterly quality to her images. She did a great job capturing a mix of candids and organized group shots (especially with our giant families)! She was able to capture all of the significant and subtle moments throughout our wedding weekend with accuracy and tenderness and without ever compromising her artist eye. I cannot stop flipping through the beautiful images that we will cherish forever. She's a one woman wonder and I HIGHLY recommend Sophie.

After seeing some of Sophie’s work, I decided to ditch the videographer idea and just work with her. I put all my trust in Sophie that day and she delivered. I seriously cannot stop looking at my photos. She captured the mood, the ambiance, the laughter and all the details. When you look at her work it feels like you are reliving the moments. In addition, she is professional, she listens, she’ll be your hype gal if you need encouragement, and I was very impressed with how quickly I got my photos (5 weeks for wedding and less for engagements). Can’t say enough great things about her work!

I've watched my sweet friend Sophie blast off in her career these past few years so when Thomas and I got engaged it was a no brainer asking her to be a part of our special day. Sophie is an amazing photographer and she sees things in a way that you didn't even realize was possible. The way she captures the true authentic moments big and small are truly a work of art . I don't even know where to begin with how amazing Sophie is. From the beginning Sophie has been hands down our favorite part of the wedding planning experience. She goes above and beyond her duties as your wedding photographer in every way possible, including helping me to put together my day of timeline. It was so wonderful working with her and getting to know her over the past year and half- she is truly the only part of wedding planning that I'll miss! The week of our wedding Sophie even asked if she could join our welcome party to shoot a few shots with us to get us comfortable with her. Since we live in NYC, we hadn't had the opportunity to meet in person yet so this first meeting was a great way to ease into being in front of the camera. Sophie helps to put you at ease by asking fun questions about you as a couple to get you laughing and relaxed. The day of our wedding Sophie was punctual, organized, and so on top of her game. She even went above and beyond by bringing a second shooter to help capture the guys getting ready as well as our first look so she could capture both of our reactions. I mean she seriously thinks of EVERYTHING! She helped to keep our bridal party on time throughout the day so much so that we were ahead of schedule all day! That never happens with this group! I received compliments all night from guests, family, and friends on how seamlessly Sophie fit in with the party and no one ever felt like she was obtrusive in any way, yet she somehow always managed to be at the right place at the right time to capture the best shots. I cannot stress enough how easy Sophie made our big day. I wish I could take her back to NYC with us to be our permanent life photographer. There will be many vendors who don't follow through on their promises or expectations throughout your wedding planning process but trust me when I say, Sophie will not be one of them. And I haven't even mentioned how stunning her work is. She manages to capture the little moments most others would overlook. I can't even manage to write enough wonderful things about her because the list goes on and on. Thank you thank you thank you Sophie!

Hiring an amazing photographer for our wedding day was one of our top priorities. We wanted to make sure that we would be working with someone with whom we had a genuine connection and that could also capture all of the beautiful moments. Our initial "meeting" turned into a three hour hangout session in which we delved into art, love, weddings, and life in general. It was in that very first experience, that we knew Sophie had to be our photographer. We felt as if we had known her forever, one of those souls you really connect with. During our engagement session, Sophie created such a nurturing environment that allowed us to be our naturally silly selves, allowing her to organically capture our love. She brought that same grace under pressure on our wedding day. The adherence to schedule can be stressful, but Sophie effortlessly kept a warm, but firm grip on the timeline, always managing to be in the right place at the right time. After the wedding, we anxiously waited for our pictures to be sent and were blown away by the incredible moments she captured! The way she uses light to craft mood in her photographs is unparalleled in New Orleans. From the inanimate tablescapes, to the gentle sobs of the wedding party, and to the raucous dancing at the reception, every one of her photographs adds a chapter that contributes to the full story of the day.

Sophie was terrific! Not only were her photos incredible but she was so much fun to work with. She is bubbly, sweet, very professional and sometimes invisible! You wouldn’t even realize she’s there capturing the moment! The pre-wedding photo shoots were so fun! She has a great eye for capturing creative shots, great lighting and making you feel comfortable the whole time. I told her I was very camera shy and she made me feel like a natural and would tell me how to pose or what to do if I froze up! Sophie is very laid back and easy going. When my friends were getting ready for a group shot no one was focusing and she was very good a being firm and proactive to get the picture done. To me it was so important to have the photographer be someone I truly liked outside of the business aspect because it is your special day with your closest friends and family. Having a connection with her made the day flow so much better. She understood exactly what I wanted and made it happen smoothly and made it fun! I highly recommend Sophie! She has you fill out a questionnaire before the wedding of exactly what you want her to capture and she does just that! She is detail oriented, organized and when your photos are ready she has a user friendly system. They are posted on a site she sends you with a password and a link for you to send them to friends and family. With digital copies and high resolution print copies. She makes the entire process seamless!

I wish I could give 10 stars! We had the absolute pleasure of working with Sophie for both of our weddings - our ceremony & brunch in NOLA and our reception in Cleveland. It made us so happy that Sophie could be with us for both events. Her style is incredible and her smile & positivity are infectious! Scrolling through her gallery will show you just how talented Sophie is at capturing intimate and organic moments of human relation. What it won't show you is her ability to care for her clients and gracefully adjust to each story's unique requests. She was always receptive, timely, and completely on target leading up to and on the wedding day. I loved that I could trust Sophie's artistic touch and didn't have to worry about planning "the perfect shots." My husband and I especially had a blast shooting our engagements. We often reminisce on laughing with Sophie while walking barefoot through woody areas swarmed with mosquitos.

As you plan your wedding day, I cannot think of a more important factor to consider than the documentation of this irreplaceable day. Your special day literally goes by in the blink of an eye! Luckily, this is something that my closest friends stressed to me: Find a talented photographer. I knew as soon as I looked through Sophie's portfolio that I was in love. I love the lighting she uses, I love the timelessness of the angles she shoots from, I love how she catches that microsecond of a moment in which an emotion flashes across a loved one's face. As I've gotten older, I have come to appreciate candid photos, so I told Sophie that was something that I wanted, really it was all I wanted. Both my husband and I are former Navy officers so friends came from near and far for our special day, so I wanted all the smiles and laughter to be captured between people we love to the moon and back. Sophie achieved that and more. She captured my dad tearing up during our first look (he's cried like maybe 3 times in my life), she got all the wonderfully affectionate looks between me and my husband and she got all the smiles and laughter I could ask for of our loved ones. She is extremely easy to work with; she is laid back and her communication skills are on point. I even had ideas here and there that she was supportive of and it made me feel like she truly cared about my input. Her energy is very calming, yet fun so it puts you at ease about being in the moment and soaking up all the good vibrations of what's happening around you. I cannot say enough great things about my experience with Sophie. I owe the world to her for making me and my husband's special day just that much more special.

Honestly, we couldn't be happier with our time spent with Sophie and the photos that came from it. We chose her for her incredible candids, and didn't give her a lot of direction or request specific shots outside of a few must-do family portraits. She totally lived up to our expectations and our photos perfectly capture every aspect and the range of emotions from the ceremony and celebration. Not only are her shots incredible, she is super responsive and helpful, while also being laid back and easy to work with. When we received the photos a few weeks later, we were really impressed with how many photos she shot right in front of us but we had no idea she was even present. Sophie was amazing! I cannot recommend her enough. She is sweet, hilarious, and so professional! We could not be happier with the way our photos turned out. We were honestly blown away.

Sophie Berard is a true talent wrapped in a professional, well-organized, and friendly package. I was impressed with how often Sophie made herself available to meet/consult with my fiance and I. Prior to the wedding, we discussed the venue, what types of photos we wanted, locations, and we worked together to create a list of desired shots. She was punctual, extremely well organized, and seemlessly photographed our ceremony and reception without distracting from the ceremony. Her professionalism alone was impressive, but upon seeing the final products/photos I was just floored in amazement. She captured the feeling of the day-candid images of guests laughing, children playing, dancing couples, and of course, the stolen glances shared between my now-husband and I throughout the day. The emotion in these photo immediately fill my heart with the same feelings I felt that day- I feel fortunate that we had Sophie document our wedding so that we can re-live the way that day felt for the rest of our lives through her photography. My highest recommendation for this photographer!

Sophie was an absolute DREAM to work with. Before the wedding, she was responsive, flexible and accommodating. We had really loved the work we’d seen online, and I can 100% confirm that it is representative of what we got from her as well. The pictures she took are an absolute perfect representation of our wedding day, and us. In particular, I was a little concerned about portraits (my husband and I can get kinda stupid when there is a camera pointed at us) but Sophie made us feel really comfortable, and really let us be ourselves. I’m thrilled with the results, which perfectly capture our sometimes rather goofy (but also tender and sweet) relationship at this moment. We didn’t have a lot of ‘must do’ shots for her, we really just let her do her thing, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I couldn’t recommend someone more highly!

Finding Sophie was such a blessing. She is so knowledagle and passionate about her craft. She's super responsive and executed everything from day 1 with professionalism and personality. She made it easy, and was above and beyond what we could have hoped for. I would choose Sophie 100x over.

**Summary: So sweet, so professional, so talented = BOOK HER NOW!!!** Ryan and I cannot say enough positive things about Sophie. From the moment we started speaking with her about our wedding, she was so kind, responsive, and warm. We knew we loved her and wanted her to be our photographer from our first meeting. She worked with us on a few special requests we had and stay in contact frequently until our engagement photos. We came up with a plan for our photos together and even made a surprise trip to a snoball store based on our conversations during our engagement session. My husband does not like to take photos, but she made us so comfortable and was so open. Our engagements were so beautiful! I even had a friend try to book her for their wedding off our pictures alone. Then, leading up to our wedding, she was again in contact frequently always so professional. She again worked with me on our schedule and never one waivered, even when I was a crazy bride! I did not encounter anyone near as kind or sweet as Sophie in all of our wedding planning! The day of, she worked quickly and efficiently, following her schedule, but also calmly working with the wrenches thrown in to the plan. I cannot say how many of my family members have told us how much they loved Sophie (I would honestly adopt her in to our family). She got so may great pictures, but never seemed in the way and never did anything that even possibly, marginally cramped our style. Now, for the pictures. They are BREATHTAKING. Everyone I have shown them too has unanimously said these are the best wedding pictures they have ever seen. As I told Sophie, I cannot wait for the day I get to tell everyone the *famous* Sohpie Berard took our photos! She got every picture we wanted and more. We did not opt for a videographer, but we really did not need one. She captures every emotion, feeling, color, and personality beautifully. I cannot stop staring at the pictures. We have had them for two weeks and I think I have looked at them everyday. They are breathtaking. I cannot possibly pick one. Overall, Sophie is the best thing that happened to our wedding (besides my husband). I have honestly not one bad thing to say. No critique, no suggestion, nothing. I am not sure how we got so lucky, but I honestly feel like we got away with a steal. You will not regret one second you have as Sophie as your photographer. I want her to follow us around and capture everything. She has such a talent, made only stronger by her kind personality. She fantastic. Hire her now!!!

I booked Sophie after my sister used her for her bridal and boudoir photos. I knew I had to have her! From my engagement/boudoir photos to the wedding, Sophie was kind, flexible, and showed her expertise at every turn. She gave great direction and made you feel so comfortable in front of the camera. She has the sweetest personality, and everyone who met her would tell me how amazing and professional she was. If the shot wasn't working due to the lighting, or there were crowds (with a wedding in New Orleans this happens a lot), Sophie was always calm. She moved through the day very smoothly and we never felt rushed. Sophie and her 2nd photographer were in every place at once, so it seems. We cannot even believe all of the amazing shots they were able to get. They went above and beyond to get their shots and even stayed later than they needed to be there. Aside from how she runs the shoot, her work is absolutely breathtaking. Our wedding photos are beyond beautiful. Her style of editing is what really grabbed me. It isn't just "typical wedding" photography, and you can feel the emotion in every photo. The fact that she has such an extensive portfolio in other types of photography and painting really sets her apart as a true artist. We are so thankful that we had her for the best day of our lives, and I don't think I could ever use any one else!

Sophie is amazing, and our engagement photos are so beautiful! She made us feel so comfortable that sometimes we forgot she was there. We met her at the first location for a drink while we chatted and she got to know us. She was easy to work with and open to ideas, even taking a photo of us in the "prom" pose (my fiance is not from the US and didn't know what the pose is). We had so much fun. Sophie sent us our photos when she said she would, and it was very easy to view and download them. She even posted about our photo session on her blog, and we could tell she really listened to us during our chat. We would've loved for her to photograph our wedding too! We will definitely keep her in mind when we need a photographer again. We definitely recommend her!
