everything would go well. I was really excited to have found a DJ for my wedding. As the wedding approached, I didn’t hear much from Jamie, so I decided to give him a call in May—about a month before the wedding. Just so we were both on the same page. The call went great—everything was clear, and I felt reassured. I also sent Jamie my music albums via email, as he had requested instead of uploading to the website, providing him with a detailed hour-by-hour schedule for the day. However, on my wedding day, Jamie didn’t show up. Instead, a different DJ arrived—someone who wasn’t even part of Sound FX, as the DJ himself explained to my dad. While I understand the contract did allow for Sound FX to send a substitute if Sound FX wasn’t available, I was never informed that Jamie wouldn’t be DJing my wedding. Had Jamie simply said, “Hey Tame, I won’t be there, but here’s the contact of the DJ who will be filling in,” I would have appreciated the transparency. But instead, a random DJ showed up. The DJ didn’t introduce himself or explain why he was replacing Jamie. As the bride, I was too busy to address this on the spot, and I felt like it was too late to ask questions since my ceremony was going to begin in 30 minutes. The DJ played the wrong music before the ceremony, so we asked him to change it to the playlist I provided. He didn’t have any of my Spotify playlists (which I had spent hours creating), and when my sister asked if he could play the right playlist, he said, “I don’t have Spotify.” You’d think a DJ would have access to Spotify—it’s pretty much a standard tool for their job. On top of that, he made a number of dismissive and unprofessional comments like, “Why are you making this so difficult?” and “Well, what do you expect? There’s no alcohol, so people aren’t going to have fun.” In my opinion, this was very unprofessional and rude. After my wedding, I wanted to focus on my honeymoon for a couple of weeks, so I didn’t follow up right away. Once I returned, I texted Jamie multiple times asking if we could discuss the issues I experienced. I left voicemails as messages because I didn’t want to automatically bring it to the public, but after over a month of waiting for a response and a call back, here we are. Jamie finally responded after 3 weeks of trying to reach out to him, however his reply didn’t address the concerns I had raised or make the situation right in any way.
