Words can not describe how absolutely happy this team made us on our wedding day. We used both Jimmy as our DJ and Joanna as our Videographer from Soundwave. Individual reviews below. DJ Jimmy kept the dance floor full the entire time! I have to say that planning this wedding completely out of town and never seeing him in action, I was incredibly nervous. But speaking to them on the phone and through emails... I knew he was the one! He made the process from afar so easy and never skipped a beat on the day of. Every detail, from the ceremony to cocktail hour, the announcements, first dances, and our reception was absolute perfection. He went above and beyond and included our guests in everything, including DJ'ing with him. I even emailed him once regarding some nightmares I was having and he laughed while responding not to worry everything will be great! I can't say enough about how wonderful he really wise! We had a very large destination wedding consisting of a crazy Pittsburgh crew of 130 people in attendance. We love to dance and party. He created that atmosphere perfectly. He catered to everything we asked of too without hesitation. So easy to work with all around. Videographer Joanna and her team KILLED IT. She literally entered the room the day of the wedding and just made everything so exciting with her adoring and positive personality. She also made us laugh the entire time with her amazing one liners, but these puppies made it so easy to remember what to do and what not to do as a bride! I loved it! She captured every moment and gave the best instructions all day long. We received everything also in a very timely manner, and the music she accompanied everything with was beyond perfection. We also were able to participate in the behind the scenes Instagram footage. BEST IDEA EVER! All of our loved ones who were unable to attend got to see everything that occurred from our home in Pittsburgh. Joanna and her team captured every moment, and worked with whatever we wanted the whole way through. Even my crazy jump up and down of pure excitement moments. This lovely couple will NOT disappoint you as a bride and groom I promise. I would recommend them over and over again. They kept up with our crazy party crowd and our crazy personalities. NO REFUND AFTER TERMINAL CANCER DIAGNOSIS - We booked this guy for my sisters wedding scheduled for October 2023 in Key West. My family lives in Mississippi. We signed the contract, which is clear that there are no refunds on deposits. Understood. However we found out shortly after booking that my father had terminal lung cancer and were advised to have the wedding as soon as possible and closer to home for obvious reasons. Less than 6 weeks after entering the agreement AND 8 MONTHS from the event we notified all vendors (resort venue, makeup/hair, florist, and photographer). Every single one of those vendors were so understanding of the situation and gladly refunded the deposits EXCEPT Jim Cooper of Soundwave. They were all told the situation we were in and how devastated our family was. He did offer a credit. No thanks. Zero humanity or grace. But hey, policy is policy; even when you’re talking to the owner of the company who makes the policy.

Jimmy was professional and friendly, and honored our playlist. He read the crowd well, and kept us dancing until the very last song. Music was very important to us, and he made the night an incredible celebration for us as well as our guests. I’m so grateful for his involvement in our day!

Used soundwave for both DJ and Videography great pick! Jimmy the DJ was great and knowledgeable about our venue at the Hemingway Home. Very detailed in the planning process in regards to needing information about the entire ceremony and reception...which songs to play and when...On time with announcements. Music selection was great and matched the atmosphere of the night. Easy going. Definitely recommend. Joanna was great for videography! She was wonderful to work with and had a great working relationship with my photography team. On time and fun to work with the entire day. Very accommodating with request and was able to adjust hours to meet our needs. We even traveled around key west for our videography for a few hours. Cannot wait to see our wedding video very excited!

Jimmy was such an amazing fit for our August wedding at the Southernmost Beach Resort. From beginning to end, he was fantastic. Super easy to communicate with. Booking and song choices (via his online form) were extremely simple and user friendly. At our actual event, he was phenomenal. He has a great announcing voice, everything was on time and his music choices kept our entire guest list on the dance floor all night! We had so many guests tell us how fabulous he was. Highly recommend.

Joanna did the videography for our wedding on May 13th, 2021. Her and her assistant Flo were so easy to work with and made my husband and I feel right at home. Even when I couldn't read the letter he wrote me the day of the wedding (we are working on his penmanship 🤣). I cannot wait to see the finished product, im confident it will exceed our expectations!

One of the single best decisions of our wedding planning journey (an extra long one due to a COVID postponement) was picking Joanna and Jim as our videographer + DJ duo for our wedding in Key West. VIDEO: I picked Joanna as our videographer because I appreciated her package offering of multiple hours of footage between the ceremony, reception, full speeches, etc. in addition to the shorter highlight video (approx 6 minutes) and social media video (approx 1 minute). I found that many other videographers only offered the latter two options and we were thrilled to receive the full offering from SoundWave. Now onto the quality of video - we received our highlight video yesterday and have already watched it 10x - we are obsessed! She picked the most beautiful moments from our wedding day and those she knew would be most special to us. The quality of the video (footage, angles, lighting, shots at all the unique wedding day moments) truly shows the work of a true artist. Joanna blew away our expectations of how gorgeous and perfect a wedding video could be and it was worth every cent. I should also add she is an absolute JOY to work with - one of the nicest, funniest, fun people who knew exactly how to direct us around on our day while also feeling like part of our family. We especially loved how her sister Bernadette was our wedding coordinator because it truly felt like our families merged on the day of! DJ: When I learned that Joanna + Jim were a husband + wife duo, we LOVED the idea of having them both working our event. Jim put together the most epic playlist perfectly catered to our tastes - I would not change one song that was played! His music request form is perfectly crafted to help weed out exactly what we wanted to hear and he delivered exactly that. Our wedding was cut from 150 to 20 people due to COVID but we had every person up and dancing the whole night - from a tropical house cocktail hour into Sinatra for dinner, a Motown + Abba dance floor, an impromptu Hamilton musical bouquet toss into an Avicii/Daft Punk "rave hour"....we had ages 5-75 on the dance floor until Casa shut us down. I also want to share a meaningful moment that meant the world to my husband and I and shows the true character of these two - on our original wedding date (May 2020) Joanna + Jim facetimed us from our venue to say a "hi from Key West" - above and beyond to make us feel like part of their family and made our long-awaited postponed wedding day all the more special with them being part of our day. Thank you Jim and Joanna - we love you!

This is a bit overdue as we got married in January (Pre-covid). We used Jim and Joanna as our DJ and videographer and thought both did an amazing job! I'm not exaggerating when I say that our dance floor was non-stop action all night long. Everyone raved about the music and had such a great time dancing the night away! The video we received perfectly showcased how amazing of a day/night it was! When we watch it, we are right back in Key West, with our friends and family and without a care in the world. I'm so glad that we ended up choosing to have video involved, because we were definitely on a budget. Jim and Joanna were also able to help provide me with a speaker and mic for our welcome dinner the evening before (so I could perform a little number for my bride to be) and dropped off and picked up the equipment to make it as easy as possible. We found SoundWave through our photographer Senses at Play. They have all partnered together (so smart) and we found them to be the most affordable of all of the options in Key West. It was the main reason we ended up choosing them ($1000 deposit secured us a DJ, Videographer and photographer all in one). Would definitely recommend Jim and Joanna (and Senses at Play too, who don't seem to have a page on the Knot so I'll just plug them here too) to anyone looking for a great DJ/Videographer in Key West.

Do not recommend. Would not refund during COVID when all venues were shut down & we were physically not allowed to be in Key West. Even if I do end up having my wedding in Key West, I will find another more professional DJ.

The music and DJ created great energy for the night. We danced for the entire reception. Expert. Professional. Amazing.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Joanna and her work. She is a total professional and was so responsive and easy to work with from beginning to end. She captured every moment and detail of our special day producing our wedding video that is beyond our wildest dreams. To the quality of the footage and sound, to the way she incorporated the music we selected, to the final edits made we are able to relive our wedding day over and over again. She truly has an art for putting our love story together in our video. We are forever thankful that Joanna was our videographer, you definitely must hire her!!!!!!!!!!!

We had the best experience with Sound Wave! Jim gave us a detailed questionnaire to fill out a month prior to the wedding and we were able to pick the songs we wanted played at the ceremony/ cocktail hour/ and reception. He offered advice when needed and executed the whole thing perfectly! He played all the songs we wanted and also took requests front the guests. He made it personal for us and we couldn’t have asked for a better DJ! I recommend the Cryo gun!

I can't say enough positive things about soundwave! They were amazing! I planned my wedding from Michigan and have only been to one wedding so I really had no idea how everything worked. Jim and his wife answered all my questions for the two years I was engaged, some they probably answered twice. We had DJ Sanaris Peacock for our wedding day and he was full of energy, interactive with the guests, and played every request they had. I would highly recommend soundwave to anyone getting married in the keys.

I loved working with Joanna! I’ve had a sneak peak at wedding video and cannot wait to see more. She’s so kind and talented. I would definitely work with her again. Jimmy DJ’d at our rehearsal dinner and was so much fun! Such a sweet fun couple!

AMAZING!!! Jimmy and Joanna are truly one of a kind! They were SO easy to work with and made everything SO simple. We booked Jimmy for our DJ services and booked Joanna for videography. They are both so down to earth and truly portray the "Key West" vibe. They both know the island so well and Joanna was awesome at navigating when capturing our moments during sunset! Jimmy played all of ours and our guests' favorite songs and kept everyone dancing throughout the night. These two helped make our wedding so special, I wouldn't of wanted to have anyone else. Our guests still talk about how beautiful our wedding video is and how Joanna captured the BEST moments of the night. You definitely want these two helping on the most important day of your life. Love love love them!

Fantastic to work with and would definitely recommend. They sent a comprehensive form which was really nice as I was picky about the songs that I wanted. They even let us recommend songs for before wedding, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. This made the night extremely memorable. The DJ was amazing and even got out on the dance floor and attempted to show us how to do a dance. Full disclosure we are not the best dancers but have a lot of heart and we tried! The DJ was so fun and not overwhelming with the microphone. Couldn't be happier!

James Cooper is a DJ Mastermind. In full transparency, we used the whole Family Affair team to do our wedding. Planner, Photographer, DJ, Videographer were all one great package. How did we find them? Through Jim and his wife Joanna. When we initially were seeking vendors on our own, Jim was one of the first people we spoke with. We had spoken with a few other DJ’s before Jim and none really had the vibe and connection that we were looking for. Jim was perfect from the beginning and was by far our most responsive, vendor. He led us through not only the DJ selection process, but guided us towards a path for other vendor selection that ultimately brought me and my partner’s stress level to almost ZERO. As a DJ, he is incredible. My partner and I were nervous to say the least when we were telling a DJ that we wanted the night to start out with inclusive Motown and approachable pop music that eventually turned into millennial gay dance party extravaganza realness. Did Jim flinch? No. Did he tell us he loved the idea? Yes. Did he execute? 100%. Everyone, and I mean everyone (my partners family aren’t big dancers) got onto the floor at some point, and most of our friends and close family wouldn’t leave. My partner and I decided to change our first dance song the morning of our ceremony. Did Jim reply to us day of the wedding immediately? Yes Was our last minute change an issue? No. Did he compliment our choice and say it would be perfect? Yes. Jim at Soundwave was a PERFECT blend of client service, taste, experience, and talent. He is basically the Ritz-Carlton of DJ’s and frankly, I wouldn’t ask anyone else to DJ a wedding in Key West.

What a great night!! We found Jim Cooper / Soundwave at the top of our venue's preferred vendor list. After much research, I finally contacted Soundwave and hired Jim for our wedding reception. From our initial correspondence to the end of our celebration, Jim was absolutely amazing!! He made the whole process easy, was super fun & friendly, and kept everyone dancing all night. All in all, an absolutely wonderful experience!

We initially hired Jim Cooper from SoundWave to be our DJ, but then after talking to him and his wife, Joanna, who is a Videographer, we decided to choose one of their packages which included both of their services for the ceremony and reception as well as uplighting for our July 2016 wedding. We had 6 hours of video including highlight, so Joanna met us at the ceremony and had shots from us getting out of the limo and doing our pre-ceremony photos, guests arriving, the entire ceremony, and the entire reception. Jim had a great set-up for the ceremony as well as the reception. He played music as guests arrived and also had a wireless lapel microphone so that our guests could hear the officiant loud and clear. Jim was able to take all of our song requests for each of the different parts of the day and use them to figure out what else we would like- he did such a great job that the whole night, we didn’t request any songs- he kept everyone on the dance floor! We were so glad that we chose to do the video, too, because it was so much fun getting the short preview and then, shortly after, getting the full-length video which allowed us to relive the entire day each time we watched it.

DJ Shawna was the DJ for a wedding and she was amazing! She kept the party going, helped us with a couple dances that we didn't know, and helped be the life of the party! She was an awesome DJ and I would highly recommend her for any party that you have on Key West! She was great and all the guests still talk about how awesome she was!

Joanna was amazing and listened to everything!!!!!!! They were the nicest people EVER!! Professional, sweet and AMAZING!!!!
