Founded in 1983, Owner Chris is a graduate of the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland. A former radio personality, Chris started working as a wedding DJ full-time when he relocated back to his native home of York. He has since performed at over 6,000 weddings. His knowledge and experience in the industry has led him to appear on two wedding TV shows, Dream Weddings and Weddings in Style. His team is now comprised of 5 DJs all of whom have been trained personally by Chris. This dedication to excellence and high-quality, personalized service is reflected in their acclaimed work, awards and professional demeanor. This DJ company offers a personalized approach to planning weddings and events. Couples can benefit from a complimentary consultation (phone or Skype call) with their DJ before the event to discuss their vision and likes and dislikes. Couples will have access to an online wedding planning portal where they can create a "Must Play" list of their most important songs. Additional categories include "Play if Possible", " Play Only If Requested" and there is also a "Do Not Play" list for any songs or artists that should be avoided. They offer all musical genres to appeal to guests of all ages and backgrounds, ranging from Classical to Pop and everything in between. The Soundwaves team understands that a wedding day is about the couple, and that the music played should be a reflection of them. The company also offers a specific link for guest requests, allowing them to make requests prior to the wedding. The engaged couple will have the option to review and filter the list and delete any unwanted songs. This allows your guests to be an interactive part of your wedding. The DJ will provide wireless microphones for the ceremony and also for the toast. As well as catering to wedding receptions, Soundwaves Entertainment can also provide music for the ceremony. This includes ceremony prelude music as guests start to arrive, as well as wireless and lapel microphones for the officiant. Soundwaves Entertainment offers two types of wedding packages. A budget friendly basic wedding package for your ceremony and reception or bundled DJ packages which combine DJ services for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception with additional popular services such as a photo booth, monogram, up lighting. Everything went very smoothly for the entire time he was there. we were on a time-line of sorts but we never felt rushed and almost all (if not all) of the songs we submitted as songs we would like to play, were played. He respected our "do not play" list. He was discrete, speaking out only as planned or asked to and otherwise was quiet and professional on the sidelines while we and our guests had a really good time! I highly recommend this vendor.

felt so confident when booking Soundwaves Entertainment for our wedding day! Chris, our contact there, was so responsive and listened to all our questions and helped us feel very confident in our booking. The ceremony, speeches, and dinner music was wonderful. However, the party music felt like it fell short. My sisters ended up making many requests because the music felt very old and not quite music that you could dance to. It got better after that though!

I went back and took a look at a hard copy of your song playlist and compared it with our saved play list History in our computer from your event date on 11/26/22. There were only 6 Must Play songs, 1 dedication, 2 guest requests and 7 Do Not P...
lay songs on the request list. Three of the songs on the Must Play list were on the "older" side. Dancing Queen, Let's Groove - Earth, Wind and Fire (a Mother Of Groom request) and Brown Eyed Girl (which was a dedication for you and your Godfather).
In our online planning tool we allow for more additional Must Play songs and there is also an additional category for Play If Possible songs that was not utilized . Unfortunately, there were no songs listed in the Play If Possible category. We allow this for song input to get an idea for what you and your fiancé, friends, family and guests like.
I think with the handful of song suggestions that the DJ was provided that he was trying to get a foothold and a "feel" for what everybody was into. If I personally don't have much input I try a couple of different genres until I get "a feel" for what people like and then I know what direction to go in.
We do have a guest request option on our planning site that allows guests to provide song suggestions prior to the wedding too which can be helpful to get a feel for what everybody likes. Our couples can fine tune the Guest Request list and filter out or delete any songs they don't want played. This is optional but it's a nice option to get an idea what everybody likes but also allows you total control over the play list.
I do apologize that the DJ "didn't hit the ground running" right away but I think he was just trying to get a feel for what your guests liked and I'm sure the song suggestions from your sisters really helped to steer him in the right direction. We choose Soundwaves after reading tons of amazing reviews and seeing that they were on the preferred vendor list for our venue. When we booked, we chose the package that included the owner of the company DJing the event. A few months out, the ...
owner reached out and let us know he could no longer be the DJ because he had a conflicting event, but that another person would be DJing in his place. A little annoying, but we understood.
On our call regarding the schedule and song choices, I mentioned wanting to open up the floor with a specific song after everyone gathered on the dance floor for a group photo. I know my crowd, and my friends were pumped to wobble together. On the call the owner said he disagreed with the song choice and suggested I Wanna Dance with Somebody instead. When I said I appreciate the sentiment and would think on it, it felt like the entire rest of the phone call was tense. I mentioned that I really did not like I Wanna Dance with Somebody. On the day of the wedding, the DJ chose to play the strangest version of the wobble I have ever heard. No one could dance to it because it wasn’t the original version so the timing was odd. The very next song they played was I Wanna Dance with Somebody. I don’t necessarily think it was purposefully done, but it was honestly annoying.
I had hired a special appearance from a sports team to come to the wedding as a surprise. I emailed the owner with the details and what time the guest would be arriving so the DJ could announce it. The owner emailed me back that I should “remind them on the day of.” I’m not sure in what world a bride has time to go to the DJ for something like that on their own wedding day.
The DJ on the day of was fine. I can’t say anything blew me away, and I felt like he really found his stride in the back half of the dancing portion of the reception - which is fair! He was nice and polite. The set up sounds like it went off without a hitch. And he did play everything we asked to play, although some versions of songs were very strange. My advice would be to stick to the original versions because that is what people are expecting. My only other note is that the music did not fade between the two processional songs at the ceremony. One just cut off abruptly and the other started, so that was a little jarring.

a family matter. It was not due to a "conflicting event". My Mother was very ill and my Associate DJ (who lost his father at a young age) offered to step in and help me out because he knew it was a very emotional time. I reached out to the groom and asked if he would be okay with my Associate DJ as their DJ. I did let the groom know that the reason was due to a family matter but I don't think this was communicated to the bride. The groom emailed me back and said it was okay. I only reached out to ask if it was okay. I would still have personally done the event myself if they were not comfortable. I did refund the price difference between the two packages. During the final planning call the bride did mention that she wanted to do a group photo before we opened up the dance floor (by the way this is a great way to get everybody on the dance floor after the photo). She did request the "Wobble" as the first song after the group photo. I mentioned that most of our couples normally ask for the “The Wobble" a little later in the evening. The majority of our couples typically request for us to open the dance floor with a song that appeals to all generations since the older guests typically leave earlier than the younger guests so I just offered a suggestion for a song to see how she felt about it. I looked at her "Do Not Play" list before suggesting the Whitney song and it was not on that list so I suggested it to get her thoughts. It wasn't one of her favorite songs (which I totally understand). She said she knew her crowd and that “The Wobble" would work. She said she would think about it but I could tell her heart was set on it for the first song to kick of dancing after dinner so I put it on her itinerary exactly as she requested. We always honor our couples wishes, ideas and vision for their day. As a wedding professional I was only suggesting what the majority of our couples tend to ask for. I think the second song that was played "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" was just a coincidence. We’re sorry about that! I agree with you that most guests are expecting the original version of The Wobble which is what we normally play. We do apologize! We'll be sure to use the original version in the future. She did email me about the surprise sports team mascot. I added this to the DJ's itinerary the same day I received her email about this. What I meant was to "please have someone remind the DJ on the day of the event“ when they arrive at the venue” so the DJ knows they are there so he can introduce them. We understand how many moving parts there are to planning a wedding and we always accommodate. Apparently it was a miscommunication. I'm sorry we didn't earn a 5 star experience this time. I appreciate your feedback and constructive critique. We'll be sure to use it constructively in the future as we help other couples plan their wedding. We had our first meetings with Chris Pyle, back in May of 2022, and from the get-go, he was extremely kind and professional, answering every question we had come up with beforehand before we even got a chance to ask them. After signing our contract, we were given our own "planning portal," and it was a God-send for planning how we wanted our ceremony and reception to go! Song choices we didn't even know we had to pick were laid out right in front of us for us to pick from. Don't have an idea for a certain song? No problem, they have a built-in recommendations list on their website. Have an extremely obscure song from a YouTube video you want to use? No problem, they can take requests and will match the song (and double-check to make sure they have the exact one you want). The day of, Craig himself was extremely kind and very professional, filling in any and all blanks that we may have left. For the ceremony, he was able to provide us with microphones, one for our officiant, and a handheld one for my husband and I to use for saying our vows. During cocktail hour, while we were off getting photos done, he was able to keep things going and relaxed while everyone mingled. Before introductions, he was able to gather us all up and make sure we were in order and asked everyone individually to make sure pronunciations were correct. Even kept the excitement level up when we were doing speeches and getting ready for cake-cutting, for everything, really! The music mix that Craig selected for the party-time-part of the reception was great- it was such a smooth mix of genres and time periods.

If I could give him more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. DJ Patrick was very helpful answering questions about our playlist and event schedule in the weeks prior to the wedding. He did a wonderful job with prelude, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music. We provided a lot of suggestions on their online planning portal, but really felt we could trust DJ Patrick to make judgment calls about energy, genre, etc. throughout the day. He matched the crowd’s mood extremely well and was a master of getting people partying on the dance floor! What really stood out to me was his flexibility and empathy. I was feeling very ill around dinner time and had to temporarily leave the reception around when we were supposed to do speeches and couple/parent dances. I was extremely upset at the idea that guests would be waiting around because of me, or that we would potentially have to skip these events. But I had no reason to worry. DJ Patrick took this in stride and got some dance music going to keep guests entertained and happy while I gathered myself. When I returned, he deftly switched to speeches and dances as if we’d planned it all along. I asked around and nobody even noticed something was off, and assumed I was off taking pictures. It meant so much to me that DJ Patrick was able to take charge of everything in a professional and skillful manner so that my unscheduled absence didn’t ruin the reception. ly went with Soundwaves Entertainment, and we were happy with our entire experience. From the initial phone call, to a very easy to use website, another scheduled phone call about a month out from the wedding and full day service, we were very pleased with what we received.
Our DJ was Craig, and he was there from before the ceremony until after the reception. Everything went smoothly from the prelude, the ceremony music and microphones, the introductions at the reception, etc. We were very impressed to actually be able to clearly hear whoever was speaking on the microphone at a given time because we've been to several weddings where the microphones are fuzzy and not able to be understood.
Lastly, it was impressive to have our dance filled up for the entire night. The party didn't stop until the last song!
Overall, my husband and I highly recommend Soundwaves Entertainment for your DJing needs!!
