South Tampa DJ

Let me start by saying that I wasn't looking for a traditional wedding "DJ". My fiance and I are really big on music and wanted to select all our own music from beginning to end. Also a friend of ours, who is also officiating for us, would be doing the announcements so we didn't need any MC, uplighting or other special services. We simply needed someone to provide the professional sound equipment and run the music we would be providing. For some reason I had been running into issues finding such a person, when South Tampa DJ was recommended to me by a Facebook friend. At first, Kelly was great. He was quick to respond to my initial email and following questions and he gave us a great price for the equipment and for him to serve as a "sound guy" and not an actual "DJ". Which was exactly what we wanted. On a Friday I told him I was ready to book and due to a busy schedule he said he would draw up a contract on Sunday. I did not hear from him on Sunday or Monday, so on Tuesday I asked about the contract. He said again that he would draw it up. On Wednesday, by a series of unrelated events, we decided to extend our wedding from 5 to 6 hours. I still hadn't received the contract from Kelly, so I sent him a quick email as soon as we had made the decision and asked him to send me what the cost would be for the additional hour. What I got back was a rejection email. Saying that he already had the contract written up and seeing the extra hour added he had decided to forfeit the event because he had a "gut feeling" he would end up not only being the sound guy but also a DJ. He even admitted that this would make him come off as unprofessional. I wrote him back, confused about where he got that idea, assuring him that this was not the case as I already had the song list ready to go and saying I didn't understand why there was an issue with the extra hour because it would only result in us paying him more. I kindly asked him to reconsider, and I never even got a response back.
