The Southern Hotel was fantastic from start to finish! Not only is the actual venue beautiful, but everyone on staff is kind and invested in you having a wonderful day. We used the...
Garden Suite Rooms and Courtyard for pictures and first look - absolutely stunning followed by wedding and reception in the courtyard and ballroom. If you get the chance to work with Danielle and her team your wedding will be perfect!
Due to COVID, we ended up planning three weddings at the Southern (the initial date was 12 days after lockdown started!), but Danielle could not have made the whole process any eas...
ier or more fun. She (and Alyssa!) kept us constantly informed and helped us create the safest, most enjoyable day for our families and guests. Cassie, the bridal attendant, has a stellar memory and eye for detail. We got compliments from guests not only on the setting and food/drink, but how safe and well-managed the event felt - and a LOT of our guests were unsure about a COVID wedding. Everything was beautiful, food and drinks could not have been better, and the service was exceptional. Would recommend 1000 times!
We chose to have our wedding ceremony in the courtyard at The Southern Hotel and it was so perfect! Danielle made sure that I was fully informed on the entire process (even leading...
up to it with the ever-changing COVID restrictions). She was so friendly and helpful! My bridal party and I stayed in the Percy Walker Suite the night before and got ready there on the day of. I can’t say enough amazing things about the hotel and their décor! I went very minimal on décor for the ceremony and I don’t regret it one bit! The courtyard was PERFECT with just a few candles lit! Our room was turned after we left and when my new husband and I arrived back after the reception, it was like no one had been there all day! The room was totally put together and we even had towel swans on the bed (how awesome!!!). I would choose The Southern Hotel again and again.
We booked this venue last minute after having to change locations due to restrictions at our original venue. I can't express enough gratitude for the staff and our coordinator. The...
ir hospitality is unlike any other venue. They really know how to make their guests feel special. My wedding was absolutely beautiful and so much better than what I had originally planned! They made planning effortless in the two short weeks we pulled all of this together!

Cannot say enough wonderful things about Southern Hotel! First and foremost Danielle, the coordinator, is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! She made the entire process so easy and had so many cr...
eative ideas for us. She was a dream to work with and we could not have been happier! The venue is gorgeous and it being a smaller hotel made the entire weekend feel intimate with lots of our family and friends staying there. The food from Oxlot 9 is delicious and the servers did a wonderful job. Thanks to Southern Hotel our wedding was better than we could have imagined!!
Southern Hotel in downtown Covington, LA was the perfect venue for us. The staff was so patient, accommodating and went out of their way to make sure that we felt confident that e...
verything would be perfect. We had a number of guests staying at the hotel. The staff placed a gift bag in each guest's room upon their arrival. Our ceremony and reception was held in the courtyard/garden room and with a small group of about 50, it was intimate and absolutely gorgeous. Can't say enough about this venue and their staff, especially Danielle who was just a pleasure to work with. If there is any question whether this venue will work, it will. It's captures the essence of New Orleans but yet quaint and it just felt like home.
Danielle P. at the Southern Hotel is A-MA-ZINGGGG!!!! She has a lot of knowledge about the wedding industry and you can tell that she genuinely loves her job. I was not impressed ...
at all with the previous wedding coordinator there. So when Danielle replaced that person, the very first time I met her I feel like we hit it off instantly. She is extremely good at giving her own input without being pushy or arrogant about it. She is also fully aware that the bride is the most important person (hehe)... and I could definitely sense that. The Southern Hotel speaks for itself, it's so gorgeous. It doesn't even feel like you're in Louisiana when you're there. It feels like you're at some fancy destination hotel. My heart was SET on having a New Orleans wedding. But when cost became a major factor, and the stress of having a "destination" wedding set in, the Southern was an easy choice. I have been to several New Orleans weddings, at several different locations, and no one has done it as high class as the Southern. Everything is served in glasses, the staff is very attentive and pleasant, the food was amazing, and I had so many options for alcohol. I wish I could do it all over again! Definitely happy that I picked the Southern!
Although I chose to go with a different venue for my reception, I believe Southern Hotel deserves a rave review. My fiancé and I are getting married this fall, and Southern Hotel w...
as at the top of our list. They wowed us with the space, amenities, and service; however, they exceeded our budget. Danielle provided an impeccable tour and answered any question we had. My fiancé will be a deacon at our baptist church in Houston (I'm from the area), so we can't serve alcohol at our reception. They were willing to work with us on that, and Danielle put a soft hold on our date since we toured the venue around Christmas (just before a ton of girls got engaged). Our tour was brief but very thorough. I would absolutely recommend Southern to any bride wanting her big day at a place full of unique architecture, history, and elegance.
The Southern was a beautiful backdrop to an amazing wedding. The first coordinator, Leah, was nice in person but a little hard to get a hold of at times. She left About two months ...
before my wedding and Danielle took over. She could not have been more helpful and answered all of my emails very promptly. Overall great, accommodating, and beautiful!
Absolute perfection for a wedding venue! We had our ceremony here, as well as our reception. We utilized the courtyard, ball room, and sunroom. For approx. 200 guests the venue was...
enough space for people to stretch their arms and let loose! Leah was super helpful and answered all of my questions (and there were quite a few email exchanges). Everyone raved about our food selections, as well as my husband and I got a plate right before our reception. Super delicious. I'd highly recommend this venue for any event need.
Southern Hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels on the Northshore or Southshore. I could not have picked a better venue for my reception! New renovations to the historic hotel p...
rovides an artistic environment, while still keeping unique aspects of historical architecture that are awing to see. The courtyard is beautiful, with trees spread throughout and gardens along every border. Double doors open from the courtyard into a long, elegantly designed hall just outside of the grand reception room so that wedding guests can visit away from the band if they want. The hotel displays magnificent paintings by local artists throughout the lobby and halls. The catering was excellent, provided by the head chef of Ox Lot, located at the corner of the hotel. Guests never had to wait in line to get a drink at any of the 3 bars provided for the event. The wedding coordinator was very helpful and easy to work. I was also impressed that the hotel owner gave us all of her attention, sticking around the entire time to oversee that everything went perfectly. Overall, I would highly recommend the Southern Hotel as a wedding venue.
Unprofessional. My first phone call was on a Monday. The front desk transferred me to the events coordinator where I left a voice mail message. It is very difficult for me to drop ...
what I'm doing at work for a phone call, so because I didn't receive a return call immediately, I also sent an email message. The coordinator tried to return my call the following day, but I forgot my phone at home. I didn't have time to return her call later that week, and I never received a reply to my email. My second call was the following Monday. Again the lady at the front desk transferred me to the coordinator's voice mail. Instead of leaving a message, I hung up and called the front desk again (call #3). I told the lady at the front desk that I was the same person who had just called and could I please get the coordinator's name and schedule so I would know when to call her. She yawned loudly into the phone and said, "Uhmmm.... yeah, Lee? I don't know. I don't think she's at work today. Maybe tomorrow, 8am?" I thanked her and asked her for the name again. She mumbled Lee-something 2-3 times, I asked her to spell it. Still couldn't understand her. My step-mother lives in the area and somehow got in touch with someone apparently more helpful because they told her the events coordinator's name is Leah and that she doesn't work on Mondays. So the next morning, Tuesday, I placed my fourth call. Kevin answered. I asked him to transfer me to Leah. Again my call went straight to voice mail. I left a message, clearly stating my name and number (twice) and asked that she kindly call me back. I cancelled most of my work that day so I would be available to receive her call. No call all day. Thanks, I'm done.
My husband and I had a wonderful and memorable experience having our reception at the Southern Hotel! Many of our out-of-town guests stayed at the hotel which made the weekend that...
much more intimate and memorable. The hotel already feels like a living room and it was so amazing to be there and see around every corner people who were there celebrating our day and enjoying themselves in the process. They all said the hotel was a destination beyond our wedding and are excited to return there one day. From start to finish, I was impressed with the staff. They were so happy to accommodate my wishes and wants-- custom bar package, leaving up the gorgeous Christmas decorations though our wedding was just after the New Year-- as well as fill in the gaps on things I cared less about-- setup of the ballroom and other creative ideas and advice to make the night go off smoothly, things I never would have considered. They were accommodating with our various vendors, coordinating different drop-off times efficiently so that I never had to worry about it at all. I stayed in a suite, which was gorgeous and spacious and a great place for my bridesmaids to hang out and get ready with me. We second-lined our way through the ballroom and function room at the end of the night and then moved to the bar which allowed the party to continue even after the reception officially ended. I highly recommend The Southern Hotel for your special day!! We are looking forward to many anniversary trips to the Southern in our future.
