Southwest Mountains Vineyards is an elegant barn wedding venue in Charlottesville, VA. Nestled amidst rolling vineyards and breathtaking landscapes, this venue offers a serene and idyllic setting for romantic wedding celebrations. Private rental availability and a stunning array of setup options create the ideal space for your special occasion.
The property dates back to the mid-1890s, boasting a rich agricultural history and a charming atmosphere. It originally featured two barns, one of which was tragically lost in a fire. The upper barn has been beautifully restored, and many of its original features have been preserved. Today, this two-story barn offers 6,000+ square feet of rustic charm and modern amenities. It welcomes up to 180 guests for elegant celebrations. Outside, the Trellis Patio provides extra space for drinks and socializing under the warm glow of bistro lights. The beautiful indoor and outdoor event spaces and the picturesque views spanning miles all around offer a breathtaking backdrop for your big day.
Southwest Mountains Vineyards offers private venue use with access to a range of customizable layout options. The furniture provided includes tables, chairs, and outdoor heaters. A covered tent is available, offering extra space on the carefully manicured lawns. The venue also provides full use of its china, flatware, silverware, glasses, and linens. Private getting-ready suites are available on-site for the wedding party, ensuring plenty of room for the pre-ceremony preparations. Southwest Mountains Vineyards welcomes external caterers and suppliers, including planners, decorators, and entertainment. The team will be delighted to share its list of preferred suppliers to help you choose the ideal services for your special occasion. The barn is equipped with a preparation area for your chosen caterer. Couples are invited to house wine tastings, and a discount is offered on the purchase of award-winning Southwest Mountain Vineyards wine for your wedding reception. If I can give it zero stars, I would. Came in and was greeted by a server with the worst attitude. A party of five willing to eat and spend money on wine and we were treated like third world civilians. We were asked to move from the bar area...
we ordered our food and flights. After I ordered my food, I was told it was the wrong menu and it was snatched from my hand!!! We were then denied an open table because it as “reserved for wine members”. When we spoke to the manager he insisted they don’t reserve tables for wine members. Since we were treated like crap, they don’t care about customers and would not recommend this vineyard for new customers.

The facilities are also noteworthy, scoring 4.5 out of 5. The winery has a spacious layout, with an open bar area downstairs serving beer and wine, and a second floor with table service and food options. The division of spaces works well, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Just remember, downstairs does NOT serve food.
The staff was friendly and attentive, with the server/bartender Tara provided excellent service and the manager warmly greeting me upon arrival.
Given the beautiful views, great drinks, and live music during my visit, I give Southwest Mountain Winery a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. It is a fantastic destination for wine enthusiasts and those looking for a pleasant experience. I will highly recommend stopping by and enjoying the scenery and hospitality.

After the sensational tour, we got to the tasting room in each got a different type of flight as well as a cider. Each of our tastings was an award-winning wine! I highly recommend getting the charcuterie board or any of their small bites. Shout out to Malik, our server, for giving us amazing recs and history about the space ❤️
I can’t wait to return! After all my years in Charlottesville I can say confidently that this is my favorite winery.
