d when we were looking at dates, SpaceCat was going to charge us an extra $1000 to move our wedding one year. Their reasoning was because they lost money due to COVID. The only reason they did not end up charging us this extra fee is because we moved our wedding from a Saturday to a Friday. We felt the idea of an upcharge was unfair because we were all impacted financially due to the pandemic and being forced to postpone our wedding was both upsetting and completely out of our control.

The entire band was SO kind, fun and full of energy and made our wedding such a blast. We received so many compliments from guests on how much fun they had at our wedding because of SpaceCat! We had the band play track music at our ceremony and cocktail hour, MC our entire reception and then play live music for the dancing portion of the night. They exceeded our exceptions - I highly recommend booking them and checking out their shows!

If you have any concerns about the original song sounding too different as the band plays it, don’t be. Steve’s vocals on “what a wonderful world” made you think Louis Armstrong was performing, so talented! Ashley absolutely killed it as well! Our guests loved the energy all night! Christian (band manager) was so easy to work with and made planning seamless. I will recommend them to anyone looking to hire a band, they made our wedding so much more iconic than we could have imagined.

derstand. It is because they are OUT OF THIS WORLD. First, they are amazing and easy to work with. We were in a pinch with Covid restrictions that impacted our event. SpaceCat stepped up to the plate and helped us figure it out. Second, they are flexible - they let you guide as much as you want and where you really don't know - they will take over for you. Third, THEY ARE AN AMAZING BAND. Quality sound, high energy, great vocals and FUN FUN FUN. I can't tell you how many compliments we have been given about the reception, the quality of the event and the "fun" people had there. Everyone has said it is the best reception or one of the best receptions they have attended and that is largely in part due to the entertainment (SpaceCat). The dance floor was crowded all night long. When the reception ended and the band stopped playing the crowd yelled "one more song" and the band obliged with a beautiful encore. They ended the night rocking out a song by Queen (I mean really... who can pull that off.... but SpaceCat nailed it). I'd give them a higher rating if I could. And trust me, I don't know them and had never heard of them before Detroit Event Company connected us with them. My daughter and her husband said their wedding day was "perfect" and a "dream come true". SpaceCat played a huge part in that. If you need a band, shop no more. You will be thrilled with their performance.

y logistical problems we ran into due to COVID-19. I swear, their band leader, Christian, could be a wedding planner on the side. Our wedding moved from an indoor reception to an outdoor one about 2 months out. Then just a few weeks out we found out we were miss-informed and there wasn't actually power for the band outside. Christian was immediately on it, and found us a generator rental. Then with just a couple weeks to go our venue told us they could not get us flooring for the band, and Christian (while on vacation), again promptly fixed our problem by getting us a staging rental from his connections. Then with just 3 days to go, the changing rules and weather forecast, put our reception back inside. Having already cancelled the uplighting due to moving outside, we were ready to go without, but mentioned it to Christian just in case he was able to work any more of his magic, and he was! They were able to get us some last minute rentals (which they had to pick up since it was too late to ship) and it really brought the room together. Every single time we had one of these problems, Christian responded immediately, and cheerfully that he was on it, and would typically have our problem solved within 24 hours. Without him our wedding would not have been the same, and our stress levels would have been even higher! And that was all pre-wedding - We had booked Spacecat after seeing them perform at our friends' wedding, so we knew how good they were, and they did not disappoint the day of! Their performance was amazing and they did a great job MCing all night. We had tons of people throughout the night tell us how good they were, and we had people partying on the dance floor until the very end of the very last song. If I ever found myself planning another wedding or other event with live music, my first move would be to check Spacecat's availability and get them booked before I did anything else! - Like I said, easily the best decision we made!

He made his professional recommendations on song choices and order, but he let us know the final call was our choice and he would work with whatever we gave him. He was respectful of our budget and never once tried to push us into any add-ons, but did let us know of any special offers if we were interested. There was never any pressure to go with the highest price option and he made sure we were excited about the options we selected. We had the acoustic trio (originally a duo but a third member was added free of charge) for cocktail hour and the band + a saxophone player (that was offered to us a discounted rate as we had already had the band booked when he joined them). You guys, they were playing from 5pm-midnight and not once did the energy die down! People were on the floor until the very last song. In fact, we had people from the wedding in the next room dancing in the hall and asking to come in because our wedding was a party! To me, that is the ULTIMATE compliment; even the groom stopped in for a dance! Please do yourself a favor and reach out. Christian and the entire band was an absolute pleasure to work with, flexible, and you get more than you pay for!

Our guests thought that was the coolest thing they’ve seen at a wedding reception and still can’t stop talking about how amazing the band was the entire night. We are a bit picky when it comes to music and they really made our night. We are so happy we booked them, in fact one of my groomsmen ended up booking them for his wedding next year. Two months post wedding, we’ve literally had every single guest comment on how awesome our band was! A few bullet points to make this easier to read: - They are able to cover a wide variety of songs, with different vocalist, different genres and appealing to all ages of guests (we had nieces and nephews as young as 3 on the dance floor, and my grandmother who is 86 on the dance floor!) - SpaceCAT not only great band, but also great MC... they helped keep the momentum and flow of our wedding at the right pace all night long. -Their interaction with guests was outstanding and the dance floor was packed all night long! In terms of the initial booking process... We went an viewed them at a public show a few months before our wedding at a local venue (highly recommend going to see them at a public show before hand, you’ll have a blast!) After that, Christian met with us in person to go over all details of the night and also was a solid communicator via email, email, and phone call throughout the entire process. I am not sure why I doubted them, they really hit it out of the park. My guests filled the dance floor from the time the floor opened up to the very last encore. The catalog of songs SpaceCat offers is vast: from old school classics (My dad said they did Proud Mary better than Tina Turner!) to very recent pop songs and everything in between. My husband and I continue to receive compliments on SpaceCat and wanting to know more about them and where they can see them again, I have been happy to oblige by providing their contact info. If you are a newly engaged couple and are hesitant about hiring a band vs. a DJ, get a band! Well worth the extra money to ensure your guests have an incredible time. But if you've settled on a band and are not sure which one to go with, please do yourself a favor and contact SpaceCat or go to see them live. You truly will not be disappointed! Despite booking them so early, Christian remained in contact with me up until our wedding day and responded to any questions I had for him within minutes. He called me the week prior to the wedding to go over the music, pronunciation of everyone’s names, the complete timeline for the night, and even caught a few errors I had on the worksheet I turned into him. Christian truly pays attention to every single detail to ensure that the night is perfect and seamless. Despite my control freak personality, we decided to point out a few songs that we liked, but requested that SpaceCat have total control over their play list- our only request was to keep the dance floor going, and they sure did! OUR DANCE FLOOR WAS PACKED ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! I also cannot forget to mention how reliable and committed each and every member is. Steve’s wife literally gave birth to their child 2 hours prior to my reception. When I realized he was not at the vendor’s table eating and before I could even start to wonder where he was, he came rushing in claiming he wouldn’t miss the wedding. Steven and I were speechless and felt so honored. Amazing! I cannot say enough good things about these guys, as each and every member is fabulous and so real. We want to relive this night over and over again. Thankfully, SpaceCat recorded our last song “Time of My Life” where the circle around us collapsed into every single guest singing and dancing with us, which we have replayed hundreds of times with a huge grin on our face. We truly had the time of our life, and owe it all to SpaceCat for providing such a memorable, fun, and perfect night for us. I thought it was too good to be true aka maybe they suck? NOPE. I brought a bunch of friends out to see them play at Hamlin pub. They were AWESOME. They can play ANYTHING from slow songs to rap music. It was so fun. My friends even stayed later than I did because they were enjoying the band so much. Through the whole process Christian was amazing. He was helpful (sometimes more so than my now husband) when it came to what songs to pick, what songs to shorten, when to start playing this or that. I got so many compliments at my wedding on the band and the dance floor was literally never empty. I would recommend them (and already have) to anyone without hesitation.
