Was dreading this part of the wedding planning. Vanessa at Sparkle made this a pleasant experience when I was absolutely not feeling having to buy a dress. I do *not* wear dresses and have only put one on twice in the past year to be a bridesmaid in other weddings. I'll even wear pants when attending a wedding I'm not in. That being said, I wasn't feeling a power suit for my wedding, so sucked it up and got my mom, stepmom, and best friend together to do some dress shopping. I had made an appointment here to see what the boutique experience was like and also at David's for later in the day. I hadn't wanted to spend more than $1,000, but I also knew the style/type of dress I wanted/would look good more than anything else. As soon as we got there Vanessa got an idea for what I wanted and pulled a few dresses to try. She did an awesome job of getting the styles I said I wanted and one more "just to see" what another style would be like. (I did like that look on me, but ultimately went with the idea I'd had from the beginning.) At the end of the day, I think I only tried on 3-4 dresses and ended up purchasing the first one I tried on. There was a special for $150 off, which helped some, since I went over my budget. I think I could have stayed under budget had I had more flexibility on what I wanted the dress to look like, but when the first one looked so much like what I'd found when looking ahead of time, I was ok to make that change. (I think others with a smaller budget would be able to stay under budget if that were your top priority.)

The atmosphere was great, as a plus sized gal I was not looking forward to going dress shopping, but at Sparkle I didn't get any of my normal shopping anxiety. We had fun, we popped confetti, it was exactly what I wanted out of my shopping experience! They had a lot of variety, and every dress I tried on fit well for my body. It did take a long time for the dress to get into the shop, but it was the expected amount. My only other thing was how expensive dresses were. If we hadn't gone during on of their sales we would not have found any dresses within our budget hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

Sparkle was great. I am a plus size woman and I knew than the average bridal shop was not going to be the place for me. I walked in and there were a lot of dresses in my size. The fourth dress I tried on fit me like a glove. It was a brand new dress to the store so they gave me the option of taking the floor model. Not only was I able to walk out of the store with my dress but they told me I would have a one of a kind because they won't remake a floor model. This store made me fell gorgeous and not ashamed of my body. Brittany was the attendant who assisted me and she was so sweet. If you are a plus size woman I would definitely recommend going to Sparkle.

As a full figured bride-to-be I was definitely apprehensive about the dress selection process. I wanted to have an enjoyable experience, but I had my doubts. I thought I would be lucky to find something that fit, but I would probably have to settle, rather than find my dream dress. Luckily I was wrong. Going into Sparkle for my appointment with my maid of honor and mom was wonderful! Hilari Lastra was my consultant and she did an absolutely phenomenal job!! The shop itself has a great romantic, chic feel and I just loved seeing the line of dresses that were actually in sizes I could try on today. I wouldn't have to try to squeeze into a sample size to get an "idea" of what it would look like as they do at dress-retailers-that-must-not-be-named. Hilari did a great job of assessing what I was looking for in a dress. We pulled a nice selection of dresses to try on and started trying them on. The first two dresses didn't look or fit right, so we didn't show my mom or maid of honor. Sensing my slight frustration Hilari immediately switched to a dress she thought could be perfect for me. Turns out, that was it! That was my perfect, dream dress and it fit perfectly! I cannot stress enough how invaluable Hilari's intuition to switch at that point was to finding my perfect dress and having a wonderful dress shopping experience. She is very, very good at her job! (Thank you, Hilari!!!) Everything from purchasing to picking up went very smoothly. They even got my dress in about a month early! Suffice it to say I am very impressed with everyone at Sparkle. The craftsmanship on the dress itself is superb. The beading and embellishments all looked beautiful. The whole dress was made very well. I am a very satisfied customer! If you are a plus sized bride-to-be and are anywhere near Sacramento I highly recommend you go straight to Sparkle! Their wonderful staff and high quality, gorgeous gowns are one hundred percent worth it!
