Hello! Thanks for stopping by!! My name is Heather Thyng, and I am the owner, and wedding stylist at Sparrow, located in Southern Maine. I have over fifteen years of experience in the beauty industry and I love to work with wedding parties!
When it comes to your wedding day, my goal is to make sure you feel relaxed, and comfortable, while having a hairstyle that you love, that holds, and leaves you feeling your absolute best!!! I'm always taking classes, to stay up to date on the latest trends, and the newest techniques.
Your wedding hair style is broken into two appointments, a trial and the wedding day. We begin with an in salon trial. This is where I get to know your ideas, vibe and aesthetic, and overall vision for the day. Along with doing your hair at the trial, we also go over all details, the timeline, the pre wedding check list, and the all the other need to know info for you and your wedding party. My goal is to give you all of the information before the wedding day, so that everything is seamless and relaxed! Any changes that need to be made for wedding day are noted, and then we touch base before the wedding to confirm details.
Thanks for taking a peek, and I hope that I can help you be look and feel your very best on your big day!!

I still hadn't nailed down the vision for my own bridal hair until the big day arrived, but Heather helped me navigate it with ease.
Heather is professional, calm, communicative, organized, detail-oriented, and so easy to work with! She wowed everyone in my bridal party -- especially my flower girl niece :)

my wedding, I used extensions, and Heather had them perfectly prepped and ready. It was raining and humid the day of my wedding and my hair held up! I highly recommend her for wedding day hair or any special occasion—Heather will undoubtedly exceed your expectations. She will also bring a great playlist to get ready to!

make sure everything was well-organized. She even provided style guides for me and my bridesmaids, which made everyone feel fully prepared and helped the day run smoothly.
When it came to my hair, Heather exceeded all my expectations. She brought my vision to life, and I was absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. Every detail was perfect, and everyone looked stunning! Her time management, attention to detail, and ability to stay calm under pressure kept everything on track and made the day feel effortless.

going into the wedding day that this would be a great team. Heather and her assistant Jillian showed up bright and early, completely managed the hair schedule, and took the time to listen to each bridesmaid’s hair vision. They did an excellent job listening to my mom and my mother in law who were a bit worried about the whole process, but both loved their hairstyles. Our hair not only came out beautifully, but held up even after hours of dancing! Thank you again Heather and Jillian, highly recommend to Portland area brides!

ok the time to get to know me, my hair, and my bridal party, as well as provided useful hair product and extension recommendations. I have been a bridesmaid in 5 weddings, and she is the most talented and knowledgeable stylist I’ve worked with. In all those weddings, my hair fell out by cocktail hour. But with Heather, my hair stayed perfect the whole night as did the entire bridal party (quite impressive given the amount of dancing). And everyone was very complementary of the outcome. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for an exceptional stylist!

I have been going to Heather to get my hair done for a few years now so when I first got engaged I think she was probably the first vendor I booked- I truly couldn’t picture myself...
getting my hair done for my wedding by anyone else. I can’t speak highly enough about Heather! She gave me a beautiful “undone” romantic low bun, gave my mother a gorgeous updo with lots of volume which was exactly what she wanted, and gave each of my 7 bridesmaids a unique look while also keeping everyone looking cohesive! Everyone felt confident, beautiful and comfortable in their hairstyles. From the very beginning, Heather helped me to form my vision for my bridal hair, and it was honestly one of my favorite parts of my whole look that day (and it lasted the whole day!). If you’re looking for someone with a positive attitude and good vibes, someone who is extremely organized and timely, someone who adds fun and laughter to the morning of your wedding, and someone who is just extremely talented… look no further. Booking with Heather at Sparrow Hair Studio will be one of the best decisions you’ll make in the wedding planning process!! I truly couldn’t be any happier!
Heather was SO AMAZING to work with for my wedding! We had a big group of girls to do hair for (15 in total), and Heather and her team were so talented, organized, efficient, and ...
just as importantly - fun! Not only did everything go so smoothly, but everyone's hair looked gorgeous across a wide variety of styles (updos, blowouts, a curled style on my mom's short hair, and even a cloth hair wrap on my grandmother which Heather took in stride and looked up on Youtube to learn how to tie)! I loved my chic, low updo and felt like the most beautiful version of myself - we all did! Beyond her talent, Heather was kind, super communicative, and has a great, fun energy. Cannot recommend Heather and Sparrow Hair Studio enough!
My wedding hair was everything! Heather (owner of Sparrow Hair Studio) brought my Ethereal-boho-romantic hair vision to life. It was even better than I imagined.

My mom and mother-in-law had elevated curls and blowouts. They both looked beautiful!
Everyone loved their hair and felt confident all day and night!
Heather is super organized, talented and professional. She kept us on schedule. The 9 of us getting our hair done were ready with time to spare.
I highly recommend Heather and Sparrow Hair for your wedding hair stylists!

to help me out with my extensions and was extremely prepared and time efficient! From the trial to wedding day- she made me feel comfortable, taken care of, and heard. I had so much fun with Heather and her assistant. If I lived closer she would be my new stylist!
