Speakeasy

My finace and I both work in hotels and didnt want a stuffy hotel feeling for our April 21, 2012 reception, so we chose this downtown rooftop location. We had to pay extra to use our own caterer which we were okay with as the bar was built in and the view was great! We wanted charm! What we got was... nothing. No cutomer service, no kindness, no assistance. I got the GM in my face 7 times in a 2 hour wedding reception adding charges for linens the caterers used (plus service charges) or sign this revised contract, or I need a credit card, or here are additional charges and receipts. The baternders were not informed that the bar was to be open and had been asking all my guests for credit cards before we arrived. Completely embarrassing as so many mangers of Austin hotels were present. With 20 minutes left in my agreed upon "rental time" there was no place to sit as the cocktail waitress (who wasnt informed she'd be working a weddign reception and dressed COMPLETELY inappropriately) smack RESERVED signs down on all the tables. They all left and my new husband and I got no send off, no bird seed, no sparklers. All the guests felt like they had been kicked out and not wanted. There were so many issues for such a small weddign reception with a very laid back bride that I have to urge anyone not to have ANY type of event here other than a happy hour.
