Special occasions hair and makeup: ♾️/10
I cannot recommend Special occasions hair and makeup highly enough. From the very beginning, Chrissy took the time to understand my...
vision and brought it to life with incredible care and attention to detail. Her communication was excellent throughout the entire process. She was responsive, organized, and clear about every step, which made planning feel easy and stress-free.
On the wedding day, everything ran according to schedule. She stayed on top of the timeline, kept everyone moving, and helped the morning feel calm and organized. Her setup was professional, and incredibly clean and sanitary.
As someone who can be self-conscious, the thought of being the center of attention was overwhelming. Thanks to her talent and professionalism, I felt confident, beautiful, and completely comfortable. She helped me feel like the best version of myself, and I will always be grateful for that.
They were wonderful with my bridesmaids and made everyone feel at ease. I was especially touched by the way they cared for both my mom and mother-in-law. They treated each of them with genuine kindness and patience. They made them feel comfortable, confident, and special, which meant so much to me. Seeing their happiness throughout the day was one of my favorite memories.
Beyond their talent, they brought warmth, professionalism, and a calming presence to the entire experience. If you are looking for someone who is skilled, organized, communicative, and truly invested in their clients, I highly recommend Special Occasions
Chrissy made the whole process so enjoyable and my whole wedding party couldn't stop talking about how much they enjoyed not just their hair and makeup, but the application process...
. Chrissy is clear and communicative - and always responsive. I truly appreciated all the tips and reassurances. Couldn't recommend Chrissy and her team more!
I absolutely loved working with Chrissy from Special Occasions hair and makeup. We had to schedule my hair and makeup trial the same week as the wedding as I live out of state. Dur...
ing our planning consultation call, she asked so many questions about different inspiration photos to really gauge what my vision was. By the time I sat in the chair for my trial, she was able to capture my vision without needing anymore information. On the wedding day, she had mentioned that she reviewed our trial session photos and found places where she “could do better”. I really appreciate the time she put into thinking about my day and I really felt like the most beautiful version of myself. She was beyond organized and timely on the day of the wedding with her partner Dina to the point where we were ahead of schedule. All of the bridesmaids were so happy with their hair and makeup styles and they both lasted all day.
I can't say enough about what an amazing experience I had with Chrissy and Special Occasion Hair and Makeup!
From our very first phone call I could tell Chrissy was so passionate ...
and knowledgeable about her work. After I decided to book her we had a phone call that lasted about an hour, talking all about my vision for my hair/makeup for my wedding day. She asked me so many questions and wanted all the little details which really made me feel like she cared about me as a client!
Fast forward to my trial day, which I was a little nervous about. I am not one to get anything fancy done to my hair and I barely wear any makeup so I just wasn't sure what to expect even though I had emphasized all of this to Chrissy during our initial call. I left my trial feeling 100% confident in my choice and knew that Chrissy and her team were going to do an amazing job day of.
My wedding day started off on the best note because of Chrissy and Dena. They were so professional, so knowledgable, so kind and so patient. We had 7 girls total who needed hair and makeup that morning and our ceremony started at 2:00, meaning we were on a pretty tight schedule. I was a little worried about if we would get behind but we were actually ahead of schedule the entire morning!
All of my girls and my mom LOVED their hair and makeup. We all had very different hair and skin types but Chrissy and her team were able to work with each of us to give us exactly what we wanted. Chrissy and Dena were so honest and helpful when she was shown inspiration pictures and everything came out perfectly!
I would highly recommend Chrissy, Dena and Special Occasion Hair and Makeup for your big day. I promise you will not be disappointed, she is the best!
Chrissy and Dena did such an amazing job on my wedding day. Chrissy is extremely organized and I knew I did not have to worry once I booked with them. At first, I was worried about...
not “looking like myself” with professional makeup, but Chrissy gave me a perfectly elevated look and I still felt like myself on my wedding day. My wedding day was super windy, but my hair and makeup held up all day long. It was also really great to have a team that does both hair and makeup so that you only have to book one vendor. I can’t say enough about this vendor- would recommend them to anyone!

sn’t not regularly get special occasion hair or makeup services, especially with a person she’s never met. Even she was comfortable with her experience! My hair stayed in place all day and my makeup barely needed any touch ups for the entire day and night! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her services to other brides in the Rochester area!

id amazing work - I went in thinking that the look I had in my imagination was a pipedream and sheepishly shared my ideas with her, and she brought them to life in a more spectacular way than what was in my head! My hair and makeup came out better than I had ever dreamed and I got so many complements on them! She was amazing to work with, accommodating, and attentive to any all needs and concerns! She was also super flexible and was okay with changings the schedule up slightly because I had forgotten who was booked for what services. Speaking of flexibility and attentiveness, my family and I were all a little frazzled that morning as we were dealing with a major transportation issue with a family member that had fallen through, and Chrissy so sweet during the whole situation and offered any help she could! Not only does she do mind-blowingly amazing work she also consistently goes above and beyond. cannot recommend her services enough!
Chrissy was one of the few people who was willing to work with a small bridal party. It was just myself, my maid of honor and my mom and I will always be appreciated of that fact. ...
Chrissy was a joy to work with and fun to be around during the morning of my wedding. Although I had photos for hair and makeup inspiration, she took it and made it a reality. She knew what would work and would not work for me and truly made me look stunning on my wedding day! She wanted to make sure everyone was happy at the end of the day too. Both my mom and my maid of honor weren’t very sure of what they wanted. She was patient and helped guide them every step of the process when she was doing hair and makeup and everyone felt glamorous yet themselves. Hair and makeup stayed all night.

e. She is an expert in her field and amazing at her craft. Her very well organized process of working with each individual bride is very thorough. Chrissy works quickly and efficiently to make your wedding day as smooth as possible. Her pricing is also extremely fair! I am so thankful that I booked Chrissy for my wedding and my bridesmaids and mother were very happy with their hair and makeup and it lasted ALL day. If she is available on your wedding date book her immediately, you will not be disappointed.

trial she nailed it!! Then the day of her and Dena crushed hair and make up. My bridesmaids all got very different and unique styles/ make up done and they all looked beautiful!!

I was looking forward to working with Chrissy on my special day. The hair and trail went well. Chrissy told me that it would look better on the wedding day since more time would go...
into it. After the trial I had a few suggestions of what works better for me like using primer. I was very disappointed in the outcome of the wedding day. My makeup and hair was exactly like the trail with no improvements, except a shadow color change. On the wedding day, we felt rushed and did not listen to the suggestions to implement on the wedding day. My hair was loose when she finished. The rest of the bridal party's makeup was plain and their curls fell before they even left. As they were going to depart, they said they would do touch-ups which never happened. I expected a lot more for the price. Highly disappointed in the hair and makeup for my special day. Will not be recommending them.

ding planner, it's very important for me to work with and only recommend vendors that are the best in the industry. I want to make sure they are going to deliver the best-in-class experience I want for my couples. Chrissy delivers that and so much more. She has a well-defined process for working with each couple, takes diligent notes, and executes flawlessly. Every couple I know that hires S.O.H.D is so happy that they did. In addition to her process, Chrissy is truly an artist and works quickly. She is thoughtful, creative, innovative, and makes sure her clients look the best that they can on their special day, whether it's for a wedding or a photo shoot or something else. Her pricing is more than fair for the service she delivers. I cannot wait to work with her on many future events. If she is available on your date, book her quickly as she is in high demand!

k and feel beautiful, she made me feel like a princess, without needing a ton of direction (as I was unsure as to what would look best on me). Chrissy and her team were not only there early but they kept us so on track - we even had an extra hour to just relax! Not only is she talented, but she is so kind and accommodating. I had to plan my wedding while out of state and she worked around my crazy schedule to make sure I had everything I needed. She even assisted me in styling my dress with accessories. I cannot recommend her highly enough, ladies - if you want the best on your wedding day you need Chrissy and her team!
Chrissy was amazing to work with and made sure every piece of hair was in perfect placement. My hair lasted all day and night. The morning went super smooth too!

rience. I had 3 bridesmaids, MOB, MOG, SOG and myself all getting hair and makeup and we never felt rushed! Chrissy and Dena were very efficient. Her services are such a value! It was so easy to work with Chrissy. She listened to what I was envisioning and took it to a way higher level. I've never felt more beautiful on my wedding and I owe it all to Chrissy!

essional, so incredibly gifted and so fun to be around. The girls take photos of "dream hair dos" and make them reality. I had so much fun watching my girls turn into supermodels while we were getting ready!! And every bridesmaid loved how they looked!
Now for me :) I think it is important to tell everyone reading this how much I cried on my wedding day, happy tears of course :) but real tears. My makeup...did not move. I repeat DID NOT MOVE. Despite all my happy tears my make up was flawless from morning to night. That is no easy task! My hair was exactly how I wanted it and my overall look felt like a dressed up version of myself. I felt natural, gorgeous and flawless. And I wish that feeling on any bride on their wedding day. If you want it, you must hire Chrissy :) Chrissy, it was a pleasure to work with you and your team and for every bride reading this - dont wait, book her today! Thank you Chrissy & team! You are AMAZING!

at it was the first wedding I've ever been a part of where every single girl loved their hair and make-up. Everyone looked like the most beautiful version of themselves. Chrissy and her girls seriously knocked it out of the park!!!! And to top it all off, I had so much fun getting to know Chrissy. It was the icing on the cake that spending my wedding morning with Chrissy felt like I was with a good girlfriend, and not just a wedding vendor. :) I would highly, highly recommend going with Special Occasion Hair Design! :)
We hired Special Occasion Hair for the wedding. I decided to go with them because I saw a lot of variety on their website (vs standard curly hair that I saw a lot on other websites...
). This was very important for me since I was hiring stylist to do the whole bridal party and each of us had completely different hair. Chrissy and her assistant were great. Everything went so smooth starting with booking till the last moment. She was very flexible accommodating my timing for trials and consultations. I felt very safe with her.
On the wedding day they were on the location even before us. My bridesmaids just trusted them with what they thought would be the best (of course taking into account general personal preferences for each of them). At the end everyone was looking in the mirror and could hardly recognize themselves! All of us including moms felt so beautiful and special.
I definitely recommend Special Occasion Hair Design! They are amazing! Exactly what I was looking for!
Chrissy, you were just great!
There is no other day in a woman’s life that is as important to look one’s very best than her wedding day. The bride is the center of everyone’s attention; and the hundreds of ph...
otos taken of her would have to show her looking her very best. Realizing this, I knew how important it was to find someone who could help me look the very best version of myself. It was a long journey, but I had finally found the artists who could help make this happen: Chrissy and Lindsey of Special Occasion Hair Design. They have a way of showcasing a person’s beauty and they do it with such skill and professionalism. By enhancing beauty (even if, like me, you can’t seem to find it), they give every bride the confidence that she needs to feel the most beautiful version of herself on that much scrutinized day. I can’t express how happy I was to be able to look and feel so radiant on my wedding day-all thanks to Chrissy and Lindsey! If you want quality and professionalism, do not look any further than this duo!!!
Chrissy and her team at Special Occasion Hair Design came to me the morning of my wedding. They were early, brought everything that they needed and were ready to work their magic!...
I loved that I could literally just wake up and they were there, in my home. I didn't have to leave, run around, or waste precious time driving to and from the salon.
Being that I am a very natural girl to begin with I was really worried that I wasn't going to look like myself. Chrissy's experience and attention to detail is unreal, she took everything into consideration and totally delivered. My finished look was timeless, classic and everything I ever dreamed of! Not to mention I looked just as good at the end of the night as I did when she left.
I would highly recommend Chrissy to anyone that is getting married and is looking for a wedding stylist!

t time. They were professional and courteous towards everyone, and stuck to the timeline we had arranged. Chrissy dealt with my fair complexion and red hair in a manner that inspired confidence, and left me looking and feeling stunning for my wedding.

my shoes?! She looks at so much more than just 'hair and makeup' This helped her really understand my personality and taste and she nailed it. The morning of, Chrissy and Jessica arrived on time (early) to my hotel ready to go! They have their whole process down to a science. They were professional and organized, and worked very well as a team. They made sure everyone was happy with their hair and makeup, doing any touchups throughout the morning that anyone needed. All of my bridesmaids and mother looked beautiful. Chrissy stayed until we were literally walking out the door, to make sure everything was just perfect.. She even helped me get into my dress! She was an absolute pleasure to work with and really made my morning a breeze.. She calmed my nerves and made me look my absolute best! By the end of the morning I wished I had invited her to the wedding! I cannot say enough good things about them :) I hope I have the opportunity to work with Special Occasions in the future.
Thank you SO much for all you did :)

The morning of the wedding Chrissy and her team showed up on time and ready do my hair, my 5 bridesmaids, and my mothers. Everyone's hair turned out beautifully and lasted the entire day. I could not have asked for a better team to beautify my entire wedding party! I would highly recommend Special Occasions Hair Design to anyone in the Rochester area getting married!

ssy was not just a hair and makeup stylist for day of. She emailed and offered to meet with me multiple times for anything and everything for my day of look. She recommended places for undergarments, hair pieces, and countless other things. When I decided to be cheap and struggled to find hair accents that I liked and were reasonably priced she told me to find earrings, broaches, or bracelets I liked. She transformed a bracelet into a gorgeous headband and my grandmother's broach and one earring into sentimental and perfect hair accents pieces. The day of Chrissy and her team were fantastic. They were early, organized, and the work was amazing. We all felt and looked amazing. Every single person who got their hair and makeup done also mentioned how nice, friendly, and enjoyable it was to spend the morning with all of them. The fit right in with my friends and family and not only helped keep the stress down but made our morning fun!
They were absolutely wonderful!

lf, there were 9 of us. It was a 1920s themed wedding, and the team showed up all done in themed hair and makeup for us to see.
Everyone looked amazing. Our hair and makeup lasted all day and night. We all looked and felt beautiful. They were fun to spend the morning with on our especial day.
We paid a little extra for one member of the team (Renee) to come to the wedding for a bit because I was afraid we'd need make up touched up before pictures. We did not need it, but she jumped right in, making sure we looked perfect in every picture and she even picked up in several places where our wedding coordinator failed. She helped me get into my gown, touched up my lipstick... Everything.
I recommend them whole heartedly and with joy & confidence.

at ease by helping me figure out the perfect look for my wedding, something that kept me true to myself, just a little enhanced :) Not only did she help me to look beautiful on my wedding day but she came to the rescue when the hair dresser meant to style my bridesmaids and mother didn't show up (don't worry she wasn't from Special Occasions)! Chrissy is incredibly professional, talented and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a beautiful look for a special occasion.
