Splendor Mountain

This is the most beautiful place ever!!! The venue was perfect and met all of our needs. Chevin and Uri were so helpful and accommodating. We did the weekend package so we had full access to the area Friday-Sunday. I highly recommend this!! It was perfect for our bridal party to be able to stay on site the night before the wedding. The cabins were perfect for our group. The honeymoon suite was so romantic and quiet 😍 The ceremony spot literally makes me cry when I see it. Pictures do not do this place justice!!!!!

There were times when we felt that our safety was at risk due to the explosive outbursts and confrontations from Chevin and her son. She harassed our guests and would not respond to most texts, calls, and emails she received from the wedding planners and myself. We rented the entire Venue for the weekend and also rented the cabins for 3 nights. Cabins were dirty w/ roaches throughout. There were soiled towels on the floor, cobwebs and dust everywhere. The back porch areas were so bug-infested we couldn’t use the area at night—well over 100 flying around. When this was mentioned the day after our wedding (when she confronted us to demand more unsolicited money), she acknowledged receiving our messages- they did not spray for bugs bc she was all-natural…. But there ARE all-natural bug sprays, and even UV zappers. The kitchen that the caterers used did not have gas, so they had to cook all of our food on their personal backup grill. They reached out to Chevin about the gas, and never heard back from her. She did not respond to our planner/caterer and didn’t show up to the wedding until the end, when she fussed at planner for using the AC and said to him, “who am I charging for using the AC, you or the newlyweds?” Thankfully, he was able to reach her in the very beginning when he had to actually ask her to cut her 18-inch-high grass that we as well as the wedding party and guests were going to walk through. She even had the audacity to tell one of our guests that he wasn’t behaving like a married man because he was driving 20 MPH and said “what would your wife think if she saw you behaving like this?” She entered the cabins after the wedding saying “weddings over its bedtime” which is 100% illegal. The only people who were there were our guests listed on the reservation. There was one wedding guest who missed the bus to his cabin, and one of my best friends and her husband (also staying the night) said they would drop him off on their way out…when Chevin brought him to the cabins when he was trying to walk back to his cabin. She threatened to be “coming back in 20 minutes” and “you better either be gone or going to bed”. These two cabins hold a total of 24 guests. Everyone who was there was listed on the reservation…. Except the one guest who was brought by Chevin after he missed the bus. This was not a party, the family and wedding party were playing music from a Bluetooth speaker, sitting around and talking…some packed their things (after having been in the cabins for a few days) in the middle of the night and left. The next morning (we were in the honeymoon suite the wedding night), everyone was gone from the cabins except my husband’s two best friends, and Chevin and her son had them cornered and was yelling. She approached one side of our car and her son approached the other side so that we were actually locked in. They both said “pull out your checkbooks, we need $800” She said bc of a breech in the contract, however we didn’t breach the contract. Furthermore, it should have been requested on Airbnb. We felt our safety was in jeopardy, and we were supposed to stay two more days in the honeymoon suite, we left right then without even walking through to make sure we didn’t leave anything. We actually left our alcohol inside the venue —over $1000 worth…the doors were locked when the caterers went back. I have over a dozen witnesses to attest that the cases of alcohol were visualized at the very end when packing.

Chevin, has been beyond amazing throughout the whole process of us planning our wedding almost 2 years out. Then this year covid hit and it could (hopefully not) postpone our wedding but she has been very understanding with everything. The location is amazing with the mountains in the background make it so beautiful and peaceful.

We spent 4 fabulous days at your piece of heaven for our daughter’s wedding on Dec. 1st and it couldn’t have been better. When you live in Florida and your daughter tells you she wants to marry a man whose family is from West Virginia in the Georgia Mountains what do you do? You Vvsit Splendor Mountain and hire Kathy Roberts from EventsbyKathy to help you. Chevin and Kathy made the whole thing so much easier for our family. What can we say about Splendor Mountain, only that It was perfect for our daughter’s wedding. With people traveling from 5 states the lodging on site allowed for easy logistics on where everyone would stay. Shadow Rock Pavilion is just right for a rehearsal dinner or any other event you want held outside enjoying God’s great creation. Everyone knows no wedding is complete without a few curveballs and we had ours. The day of the big event God decided this slice of heaven needed a good watering and it rained steady all day. The day could have been ruined since the meadow wedding our daughter had her heart set on was out of the question, but no worries Kathy and Chevin sprang into action and pulled off an amazing event on the wrap around porch of Sunrise Lodge. The bride and groom were still able to proclaim their love for each other and God outside still while keeping themselves and their guest as dry as possible. They quickly transitioned the lodge back for the reception and everyone celebrated into the night with awesome food from Epic Catering. What an amazing group we worked with. Definitely check them all out if you want a North Georgia Mountain event to remember for a lifetime.
