Squantum was the perfect venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. Everything was exactly what we wanted and many friends said it was the best wedding they ever went to...and Squantum is a big reason why! Jon Prata, the Banquet Manager wa...s so easy going it made me nervous at first (there was turnover in this role this year so he was our third contact) but he didn't miss a beat. He responded quickly and off hours for every request, was knowledgeable about the food (he was a chef there for years before taking on this role), the facility and always said "yes" to every request! Jay Morris, his associate, was my right hand man the day of the wedding - he attended to every detail and made sure that my husband and I had everything we needed (a space to change after the wedding, a fresh cocktail, etc). Our friends raved about: 1) the location - which was a prime reason we chose Squantum - we live in Rumford, RI and wanted a water view, a rustic, unique venue, somewhere with a good backup space in the event of rain that's NOT the dance floor, and either close to home or hotels so folks can enjoy the open bar, 2) the food - we chose the filet and salmon and both were a big hit - our friends who are major foodies said it was delicious and HOT; they also loved the appetizers but as the bride, I was too busy hugging everyone to eat at that point :), 3) the service - the staff was fantastic and with little instruction perfectly executed my DIY decor while I was at home getting ready.
Other details that were superb: Golf cart - parking is a bit far for those with heels or elderly - the gentleman driving the golf cart was fantastic and ready to help with transport at all times, Bridal Suite - my husband got ready on the property, the desserts - we ordered a cutting cake and mini-cupcakes and I was able to get various flavors and they were all DELICIOUS! Signature Drink - I picked a drink and sent Jon the recipe and they came out amazing,
Now, the price. No doubt, it's pricey but after you look around you will find that it's comparable to the high end venue after you add in open bar, service fees, dessert, taxes, etc. and you don't have to stress about making decisions like top shelf v. mediocre bar or filet v. sirloin or floor length linens. The price is all inclusive so once you figure that it can work in your budget, there are no hidden costs. I had piece of mind that I knew the cost and could save accordingly and didn't fear that I needed extra money for a tent, service fees, chair rentals, etc later.
My husband and I are sooo glad we looked at Squantum. After we saw all of the hidden fees of other places, we realized we could afford it and went to tour as our last option. We walked in the Bakehouse and signed out contract 10 minutes later. Who wouldn't want to get married 10 min from downtown in a venue that is over a 100 years old with simple yet pristine grounds on Narragansett Bay??!!!!
