I can't tell you how awesome they are! Sue is the person you work with and she is fabulous!!! We had about 250 guests in the room, we weren't crowded and the room wasn't too big either, it was perfect! I seriously can't say enough good things about it.
We had our wedding reception at this venue on June 29, 2013. It is right in downtown St. Cloud on the River, central for a lot of people. It is attached to the Kelly Inn, which makes it ideal for guests to stay right there and not worry about getting home at the end of the night. We rented half of the Carlson Room and had plenty of room for our 300 guests, live band, photo booth, etc. with no worries about space. We got to choose from a list of caterers, which was nice, but be warned, the Convention Center charges service fees of the caterers and these fees are passed on to you. We had to pay a 7% fee on top of everything and it added up. The bar service has to follow the convention center's restrictions of no kegs, so you have to pay by the glass as well. They have smaller rooms that are less expensive and you can rent the whole Carlson room for more space, so there are other options. In the end the venue worked perfectly for our reception and we got a lot of compliments on everything.
The Herberger Suite was the perfect size and we had plenty of room for guests to move about the room. The view of the river is spectacular (the best in St Cloud); the room has a wall of windows that face the river. Also, tables, chairs, kitchen access, and bar service is provided and is included in the price of the room rental. The Civic Center will also put your names on their electric billboard on the night of the reception. There is also a nice hotel (the Kelly Inn) attached to the Civic Center for your guests to stay in and the hotel does room holds for your convenience.;I was told there has been a rare occasion that wedding decorators were not able to decorate the reception room the night before the wedding, as the reception room had been rented to a different party.
