Beautiful location for a great price. The church is small but I thought it created a very intimate setting for my guests. the history is the church is fantastic. Somehow my order for decorations got lost but Cynthia stepped right up at the last minute to make sure I had everything decorated for the church. She was fantastic to work with!
St. Mary's is a great, affordable location for a wedding ceremony.
It's sometimes hard to get a hold of someone at St. Mary's (they only answer calls on Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons), or to get in to actually see the chapel.
But the chapel is absolutely lovely and surrounded by a great park. The Parks Department does a great job maintaining the flowers.
All of the guests were charmed by the location.
I had my wedding and wedding rehearsal at St. Mary's Chapel in Charlotte. I was looking for someplace budget friendly as well as beautiful, and St. Mary's fit the bill. The chapel is owned by Mecklenburg County as a historical landmark and can be rented at an affordable rate. The staff was friendly and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. I got lots of compliments on my venue choice.
We had been thinking about a destination wedding, but then I saw St. Mary's Chapel on a drive through Charlotte. My groom and I agreed that small or big wedding we would get married here. We felt the size of the church made it feel more personal. Loved our ceremony there, and have NO regrets!!!!
Cute little church right outside of downtown with a long history in Charlotte. Seats about 100. Staff was nice but very strict about time limits to the point of almost being rude about it. We had 15, 10, and 5 minute warnings yelled out during our rehearsal but I understand that have to turn the building.
Ever since I was a little girl living here in Charlotte, NC I always wanted to get married in this little chapel. It is the perfect setting for a intimate ceremony. It is a good spot to choose if you are wanting a small wedding. The chapel only holds 100 people but the good thing about it is that it doesnt need a lot of decorations for it. The pews and altar and stained glass windows are perfect for a simply yet elegant wedding. Even though my wedding was the first wedding that morning it went without any hiccups in it. The people who help run this chapel are excellent. And it is reasonably priced as well. We were on a budget so this fit into it perfectly. For 500 dollars you get the time you select plus the hour for rehearsal the day before your wedding. And the time slots that they allow you to have a nice. Like I said before my wedding was the first wedding on November 12, 2011 at 10:00 in the morning but we had the chapel from 9:00 to 11:45 is when we had to be out and off the premises so that the next wedding could come in and set up and do what they needed to do. But like I said before if you are working on a budget and you want a small intimate wedding this is the best place in Charlotte, NC to choose.
This chapel is located in Thompson Park in downtown Charlotte. It is a small, beautiful historic chapel. The staff can recommed some wonderful vendors in the area who are familiar with this site!
The Chapel is run by Mecklenburg County Parks and Rec. There was a mix-up and they double booked our timeslot with another couple, so we had to move our ceremony to the afternoon. Also, they are very strict about time limitations (you only have the building for 2 hours). Also, it's a small chapel, only hold about 100 people. All this said, it is a beautiful place to have a wedding, I was very happy with it once I got over having to have my ceremony earlier than what I wanted.
