Serving and bartending began as a job while in school, but became a career when, after graduating from college, I moved to Manhattan and then Philadelphia. The skill set and knowledge acquired there have been of tremendous value to me, but I am most grateful for what I learned about why this work matters. Done right, mixing and serving drinks is about care, connection and creating an experience. It is a mindset I bring to every drink I mix and every guest I serve.
It is only recently that I have done this work privately for events, but I find this philosophy most relevant in this setting.
