what we were doing but his meetings with us put us at ease. As far as the day of the wedding, everything went perfectly, and he solved things on the fly that we didn’t even know about until after. Our coordinator had not provided him the dossier, but Darrell was very intuitive and was able to do exactly what was needed and what we wanted. He was able to improvise and seamlessly loop the music when needed based on timing not going as planned and still fit how I wanted the processional to go. I gave him a very specific direction of how I wanted the processional song to be done and he delivered. He was able to do the same with our first dance song. Since we were doing a bit of a choreographed (basic) ballroom dance, we needed certain parts cut and he was able to make it sound like the song was made that way. Most special moment was when we asked for a last dance of just my husband and I, he had everyone leave the room. I looked up while dancing expecting him to still be in the DJ booth, but he had stepped outside the door as well to give us that extra private special moment. The other best moment of the night was when a drunk guest that we definitely did not want to give an unplanned drunk speech grabbed the microphone off his booth without asking him, or anyone, and tried to give her drunk speech…he kept the music turned up and the microphone muted. Still appreciative AND laughing about that one. Thank you so much for everything!

He even spent over an hour going over the timeline and details before the wedding so we knew exactly was going expect going into it. This family duo is fun loving and easy to get along with and truly has your best interest in mind as a bride /groom. He was more than accommodating for my every request (we even requested to play the lava song from Pixar and they found it for us). Darrell kept the party going all night and we never wanted to leave there dance floor. He was also by far one of the most affordable DJs which I so appreciated as I was a bride on a budget. Last minute, we decided to do their photo booth package they offer and I’m so glad we did. The pictures turned out great! It could’ve have been a better night and they were a huge part of that! During the actual wedding, Darrell was not only an amazing DJ but emcee as well! He worked seamlessly with Luxe Event Productions, helped control the schedule of the ceremony and reception and was so great with checking in with me throughout the entire day. And I'll add that I picked unique versions of songs for walking down the aisle and for our first dance and Darrell CAME THROUGH. It made it beyond special. We had a longer then most planning time and sometimes months between communication with them, and they never forget a single detail. They created the MOST PERSONAL wedding we could have ever dreamed of. From creating our monogram to meeting us at Starbucks on more then one occasion to making sure we were not to hot at the reception. They are very knowledgeable in all genres of music and how to keep all guests entertained through the entire time. They created a very memorable wedding for us, and our guests have not stopped commenting on how wonderful of job they did for our wedding! wedding was on a Monday night, so a lot of people had to leave early which really scared me that our wedding would end 4 hours early, but Darrell knew just the right songs to play to keep everyone out and dancing until the last song! Even when my husband and I went to sit down for a glass of water we found ourselves standing right back up because there was no way we could sit through the next song! I am so impressed with how well Darrell understood out taste in music, too. We gave him a short list of "do play" and "don't play" and he perfectly blended my love for the 80's with my husband's taste for hip-hop and pop. We also had some peculiar songs chosen for our ceremony (One from Lord of the Rings and one from The Witcher 3), but Darrell had no problem finding them even though we only let him know we wanted the song from The Witcher 3 three days before the wedding! Even my father (who's hard to impress) said Darrell was who he was most impressed with out of all our vendors.

He met with us a few weeks before the wedding to go over every detail, he gave helpful suggestions when we were at a loss for songs to pick, and even brought up adding music/songs to areas of the ceremony or reception that we hadn’t thought of before. He was very organized and made everything go so smoothly on the day of our wedding, but at the same time was very fun and kept the party going well into the night! Our family and friends danced the entire evening and we received many compliments about the great variety of music Darrell played. nd move insurance claims (for all the ones that were busted on the dance floor). During the ceremony Darrell wheeled his portable PA set up to our outdoor ceremony location. His set up was more than adequate for our 100+ person ceremony. Once our vows were complete he waited for the crowd to disperse and scurried to our reception location several blocks away. For dinner Darrell played some string versions of modern rocks songs allowing conversation to not be taken over by the music. Once the dancing started, it never stopped. The choice of songs was not a statement in artistic snobbery, but rather an essay in fun. Darrell managed to pull my introverted friends, our club going wedding party, my 70 year old mother-in-law, my punk rock friends, and my boot scooting buddies all out onto the floor all night long. I CANNOT praise his mastery of being DJ enough.

Our guests ranged in age from 15-75 and at one point or another he had everyone on the dance floor. We loved that he let the music play and isn't that DJ that feels like he needs to talk all of the time. He made the few announcements we requested and then let us dance the night away. Throughout the evening he'd check in with us to see if we wanted to adjust the music at all, but we were actually thrilled with what he was playing. Add to his fabulous DJ skills, Darrell is a great guy to be around and works very hard to ensure everything goes off without a hitch!

From the start he kept us on track and helped plan the soundtrack for the evening. His music collection spans generations and genres. I believe everyone at our reception found music to dance. He worked so well with the venue staff, if a problem occurred that night...I didn't know. I actually looked to him to find out where I was supposed to be a few times. I had a special request for a song during the "father-daughter" dance and he had the information ahead of time so he was able to accommodated the request and I am so grateful. It was perfect. He also went above and beyond to help me surprise my groom with a song especially for him. I cannot thank Darrell or Tara enough for the amazing work they did for our reception and absolutely made it a night to remember.

Derrel was always willing to accommodate any request we did have. I got married at a friends house and we had the reception in another location. He was willing to travel to both of those locations to dj for us. The day of the wedding He showed up on time and did all music I requested perfect. He packed up super fast and got to the reception. During the reception before he made any sudden moves with what we would do next he ran it by us and even asked if we wanted to change anything last min. I thought that was really awesome! He stayed all night with us and played the perfect music for our crowd. Overall Stage One Events was so awesome! Affordable as well! Highly recommend

s on an iPad, hook it up to a speaker and play it from there. I am so very glad that we changed our minds and our plans. I met Darrel and his family at a bridal show in January 2016. My bridesmaids were so impressed with the binder they had with the planning tools and time lines. His son was a sales man and had my matron of honor sold. After some discussion with the girls I decided I would go with Darrel, which was the best decision I made. My mom talked to Darrel about both our Ceremony and Reception (we were just going to do an iPad for the ceremony as well). At first my Dad said no to having a DJ at the ceremony because it’s in their living room. Once I explained my visions and what the DJ would do my dad loosened up a bit and was more open to the idea. Darrel came to the house months in advance to see the set up, and reassure me that it would all work out. I am so glad Darrel was at the ceremony. He played a couple songs at the beginning, one in the middle and then one as we walked out husband and wife. He was able to put a microphone on the officiant who has a very soft voice. Our grandparents, all hard of hearing, didn’t miss a word. When we presented the grandparents with gifts Darrel played a nice song for back ground music. Darrel made the ceremony run flawlessly!! At the reception Darrel was phenomenal. Every time I would think of something to ask or tell him he was right there asking me. With our reception being nontraditional Darrel did an outstanding job to accommodate our vision. He made sure music was played softly while people ate so they could visit. He got the party started right on time! He made sure the cups were full when it came time for toasts. We had one person give a toast that wasn’t on the list and Darrel went with it. After the cookie smashing Darrel kindly brought me both wet and dry napkins and helped me clean my face. We had multiple last minute song requests that got played. Many people commented how fun the DJ was! Darrel did everything we asked for and more. Looking back this day would have been a disaster without Darrel! My favorite memory – thanks to Darrell – was the special dance my husband and I shared with my 92 year old grandma. Darrel was able to make changes to our original plans and make a better plan! I would highly recommend working with Stage One for your big day. Darrel met with us the week before to run through everything one last time. Darrel took my stress away and made the day one I will never forget! Thank you so much Darrel!

We didn’t want someone making us feel like we were in the spotlight 24/7. We also didn’t want a loud and obnoxious DJ. We explained all of this to Darrell and by the end of our meeting we knew we wanted him to DJ our wedding. We didn’t have a second or third pick, he was it. He made us feel relaxed and confident that if nothing else the music would be awesome and it WAS!! Darrell made our day very special and I think part of that was because he treated us like family, he did everything we asked and more. He even made sure things ran smoothly from the beginning of our reception to the end. I truly can’t express how happy we were with Darrell. One thing that I will always remember is when Darrell and I were going back and forth to finalize the timeline and songs for the wedding when he told me he had an idea for our introduction song; we were having a hard time coming up with one. He told me “I have an idea for the intro song that I think you will absolutely love, and after meeting with you last time, I think you will love it even more if it is a surprise to you as well.” We only met with Darrell twice because we were on a short time line, but in those 2 meetings I knew Darrell knew what he was doing. I felt he really enjoyed what he did and would go out of his way to make sure the couples he was working with feel special on their day; he truly did that for my husband and me. In the end the song he picked was a song I would have never thought of but was the PERFECT song for us and he was right I loved it! Thank you Darrell for making our special day even more special!!

ot use a wedding planner and their approach to everything was as stress free as possible. Because we live several hours away, I was unable to meet with them prior to the wedding, despite their many efforts. We talked on he phone several times to get a plan in place and everything worked out beautifully on the wedding day. They were easy to get in contact with, very personable, and an excellent resource! Darrell did a great job of keeping everyone dancing all night long. He used the bare bones list I gave him and somehow read my mind with every song he played. I would highly recommend Stage One Events!

HAD to have Darrell as our DJ. He was so outgoing and friendly. He put us at ease immediately and it didn't take longer than walking to the car to know that we had to hire him. We could not have been happier with our decision. My now husband and I have different tastes in music and Darrell was able to find a happy medium between incorporating those as well as music that the guests like. We were dancing all night and everyone was so happy! Darrell worked with us on a song for our (surprise!) choreographed dance, as well as worked with my sister on a secret rap she made for her toast! He was there whenever we needed anything and guided us through the whole process in an almost seamless way. He also did up lighting for us in the room that looked FANTASTIC! He was able to match our colors perfectly and it completely transformed the room. We absolutely 100% recommend Darrell for your DJ needs. He absolutely made the party!

The structure he offers a wedding allows you to focus on the important things like enjoying your day, while also actualizing the ideal wedding you have in your head. He took hours of his own time making sure he explained everything and even helped remind us of things we wouldn't want to miss. on our actual day it rained (which I was freaking out about) and the whole timeline had to be changed last minute, including our ceremony which was moved indoors. He made sure to talk to the groomsmen and groom to coordinate a full overhaul and didn't have to stress me out about any details. He was there to help guide people trough the whole day ceremony and reception and keep 100 people on track. A consummate professional, he worked seamlessly with our other vendors (caterers, photographer, venue) to make sure everything ran smoothly. He could also read the mood so well that he kept everyone (even the most rowdy guests) involved! Because he and his wife run the business personally, you get real attention and so many personal touches to your interactions with them. They both took the time to really understand us and our wedding and it WOULD NOT have been the same without him ! We cannot overly emphasis how worthwhile his services are! He was without a doubt our best wedding investment, and we were so thankful to have him.

My husband and I live in Nevada, so planning a wedding in Colorado was definitely a little bit tricky! Darrell and his wife Tara at Stage One made this part almost seamless! From the beginning there were professional, easy to get a hold of, and helpful in any way they could be. Signing the contract was a simple process and they immediately sent sheets of music ideas and inspiration/ planning tools for us to check out. As time got closer, we were in touch via e-mail, and then a few weeks before the big day Darrell actually Skype’d with us (we were from out of town so we couldn’t actually meet!), got to know us, and discussed wedding music and events in detail so he really knew what we were looking for. It was such a relief and put our minds at ease! The day of the wedding seamed to go off without a hitch and we have Darrell to thank for much of this. He kept the music going during the ceremony and was able to adapt and make adjustments on the fly as needed. All of our guests were able to hear the music and commented on how wonderful it was. During the ceremony, my husband and I had chosen to recite our own vows and Darrell hooked him up to a small microphone (so we didn’t have to hold one…so awesome!) from which all of our guests could hear; and hear clearly! They were also able to hear my vows through this same mic, as Darrell reviewed this with us prior and encouraged me to direct my words that way! Darrell was just as outstanding at the reception. He kept the flow going and helped everyone stay on schedule. The wedding party entered, the music played, and he pronounced every single name correctly (a big deal if you’ve ever been at a wedding where they were pronounced incorrectly!). He provided microphones for all of the speeches and there were zero technical difficulties. During the entire reception, he was so fun, personable, and energetic! If he ever got worries or stressed, we never knew it! The guests loved him and his music choices were spot on to keep the dance floor the place to be! He provided suggestions along the way and was so easy to work with and accommodating- he took so many requests and did we he could to make them happen. By the end of the night, he was leading a Congo line and got EVERYONE on the dance floor for the last song. It was SO awesome. I felt at ease the entire time knowing Darrell was our DJ.
