Standing on Ceremony... With Meg McSweeney

Meg McSweeney is a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant trained by the Celebrant Foundation & Institute. She is a gifted and creative writer who firmly believes that every wedding ceremony should be unique. Meg applies her talent and performing arts experience to help her clients create wedding ceremonies that are heartfelt and unforgettable. Meg is based in Los Angeles and available to travel throughout Southern California (schedule permitting) and beyond. She is registered as a minister with the Universal Brotherhood Movement, Inc. so that she can legally preside over weddings. Through life experience and education, she has been exposed to many religions and cultural traditions, but the religious/spiritual content of the ceremonies she designs is entirely up to her clients. There can be a little, a lot, or none at all. Here’s how Meg works with couples planning their wedding: It all starts with a “No Obligation Consultation.” This can be in-person if possible and practical, but more likely by Zoom or Facetime. If all three parties -- both members of the couple to be married, and Meg as the officiant -- agree that it's a good fit, Meg's availability can be secured by signing an agreement and paying a deposit. The agreement will include a tentative schedule of “homework”– such as completion of questionnaires and follow-up conversations that will allow Meg to gather all the information she'll need to make your ceremony as special as you are. After crafting a first draft of your ceremony, there will be further back and forth communication to fine-tune the ceremony to the couple's satisfaction. Meg will also be prompting her clients to file for a marriage license in a timely manner to ensure that the legal part of the wedding is properly executed. Meg can also be booked to run the wedding rehearsal, applying her theatrical flair and firm but gentle leadership to get the wedding party to do exactly what the marrying couple want them to do.
