My husband and I are both first-generation college students who graduated from Stanford (we met at our M.A. in Education program!), so there was no way we could pass up getting married at Stanford Church. Despite the high cost! Remember, there is no "alumni discount." Just being able to get married at Stanford Church is an alumni (or legacy) privilege, though there is a hefty discount for currently enrolled students! The church is also obviously BEAUTIFUL. No need to decorate the aisle with flowers. Because they did not allow our flower girl to drop petals as she walked, she handed out flowers to our guests as she walked down the aisle - easy fix and super cute. My husband and I also had a great experience with the Catholic community since our ceremony was a Catholic mass. Everyone was communicative and we finished everything (counseling sessions, meetings, questionnaires) on time or before the due dates which made the whole process stress free. Our dress rehearsal was easy and clear, with plenty of time for me to translate all directions for my parents who only speak Spanish. Everything about getting married here was PERFECT! Fr. Dominic was the sweetest and made our mass bilingual! The staff at the church helped set up our party favors at the exit as well. If you are on the fence about getting married here because of the price, IT IS WORTH IT!
The church was a beautiful place to get married. Their procedures are established so there are no surprises and a lot of structure.
MemChu is fantastically beautiful, and the wedding was equally so. The audio recording of the ceremony turned out really well (listening to Wagner on the organ and remembering walking down the aisle give me shivers!). The wedding coordinator knows her stuff, but if you have some non-traditional ideas of what you want to happen, voice those early. They've got their routine set and it's pretty rigid. For reference, ours was a Catholic nuptial ceremony (not a full mass). We got married at 11am, which was ideal because the quad was empty for our pictures at 9am. We had no problem booking a time, but we wanted to get married in early January. We were the only wedding on the whole day. The church is pricey, but for me and my fellow Stanford alum husband, it was perfect.
I can't say enough about my wedding at Stanford Memorial Church! Melissa and team took the reins and made sure our big day went smoothly. Everything was gorgeous - the inside of the church, the music, the ceremony. While this isn't the kind of venue that lets you write your own ceremony, they were extremely accommodating to allowing a co-officiant, which really lent our ceremony a beautiful level of personalization. Our guests and family members raved about our ceremony here. Highly, highly recommend.
