Throughout the planning process, it was clear that Myoshi (the band leader) wanted to fully understand us as a couple, the types of music we like, and of course, the types of music we don't like. We shared a bit about our guests and their style, and I could tell that information was reiterated and considered in every minute of their playing at our wedding. They PERFECTLY honored our requests while reading the room through and through. Over and over following the wedding, our guests said they had never seen a more packed dance floor at a wedding -- you couldn't peel people off of it because the band was SO good and SO fun! They really made us (the bride and groom) feel special and have the spotlight while still being super engaging and interactive with the crowd. It truly felt like we were at a concert and every element -- their lighting, energy, sound quality, outfit changes, etc. --- was spot on. We couldn't recommend this band enough! Finally, they honored our requests for special songs to us and perfectly wove them into the evening. We requested they play a snippet of "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" by Billy Joel because we love that song, and they beautifully played it as people were sitting for dinner and we were cutting the cake, they jammed out to another request "Born to Run" which felt like we were truly at a concert, and they learned and nailed our first dance, mother/son, father/daughter songs and made those moments even more special. We couldn't recommend Star Power and the entire Starlight Music team enough!!

They even had a virtual portal that allowed us to completely customize our day and our music list! Denny & the band kept the party going non stop and brought the dance floor to life.  The Blake Band made our wedding feel like a personalized concert leveraging each of their member’s unique talents.  DEF get the rapper, he was awesome!!  We even had a unique request – the father of the bride wanted to perform a sax solo with support from the band.  Denny was so excited and willing to support. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but we were completely blown away with our introduction Zoom meeting with Evan, the owner of Starlight Music. We worked closely with Allie and she was incredibly helpful with answering questions and making sure we were squared away. The band leader Denny took the time to learn/listen to requests we had…and when I am telling you our guests were blown away and could not stop talking about our band, I’m so serious. They really made the whole event come together, between an acoustic set during cocktail hour to rocking out the whole night, they have a great range and really are so talented.

g you up at your wedding. Multiple people said they were the best wedding band they've ever seen and we couldn't agree more. We didn't want a standard cheesy wedding band and Onyx is sooooooooo far from that. Seriously... do it.... they're worth every penny and more. We love onyx!!!!

f another band or ensemble where so many of the guests independently looked up their website after to follow them and e-mail the band leader thanking them for their amazing performance. Starlight music was on our preferred vendors list for our venue at Tappan Hill. We ended up interviewing five bands and music companies in our search for the perfect wedding band. We decided to go with Evan and Starlight music for a couple reasons: 1) Our wedding is a Jewish wedding and Evan's band fees are all inclusive. We were honoring Jewish wedding traditions that I had little experience with. We needed music for the cocktail hour, additional music for the procession from the tisch to the bedeken, msuic for the ceremony, and finally music for the reception. Many of the other music companies we looked at wanted and additional "bedeken fee," for what amounts to an additional 5 minutes or music. Evan immediately knew what a bedeken was, what kind of music needed to be played, and offered bedeken services as part of the cocktail hour and reception music. All music for the whole event was included in the fee we paid and it didn't feel like we were being bombarded with ala carte fees, as most of the other music companies were. 2) Starlight was able to give us musicians who had experience with playing a hora. We really wanted someone who could sing Hebrew well, and our band, Rock and Soul, fit the bill. 3) Starlight was able to show us music from actual performances they had done at Tappan Hill. Most companies had highly edited hype videos, but they were reluctant to show us clips from actual performances. As Evan explained to us, the footage is less impressive, but it gave us an idea of what the music would look like at Tappan Hill. We absolutely made the right choice. We had a meeting with the band to discuss our music choices. The band bent over backwards to meet all our needs. They were able to learn a waltz for our parents, do the best hora I've ever danced, learn our first dance song, which is pretty uncommon, and play an Israeli song for the bride to walk down the aisle too. They even learned a variation of the tradition bedeken music where they played modern pop music to get my non-Jewish wedding party in the mood, and switched to more traditional klezmer music for the bedeken. We had the acoustic trio (with singing) for our cocktail hour. They were awesome and set the right mood. They weren't too loud or overpowering where our guests wouldn't be able to converse. The saxophone, trumpet, and violin did an awesome job for our procession from the tisch to the bedeken. The ceremony music was beautiful and exactly what we envisioned. And finally, the reception music was the most memorable I've ever experienced. Throughout the wedding our guests were coming up to us and complimenting us on the band. Even now, a month later, we are still receiving compliments for the band. The trumpet player and sax player were ridiculously talented and interacted with our guests and fun and entertaining ways. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We would 100% hire Starlight and Rock and Soul Band again, and we would recommend them to anyone looking. If they seem pricey, make sure to compare them to other bands after calculating all fees. They actually are reasonably priced.

Everyone at our daughter's wedding had a great time, and many remarked, that they would individually pay to hear Starlight Orchestra perform Most of our guests said that this was the best wedding they had ever been to Clearly they made our daughter's wedding reception a most memorable event! They were always on top of things and responsive. We had our planning call with Ramon and he knew exactly what we wanted. We were in between songs for our first dance and the one we loved was a bit upbeat and needed it to be slowed down and Ramon assured us it was definitely possible. Come wedding night, they transformed the song in a way I couldn't have even imagined, it was a dream. Ramon and the rest of the Onyx band absolutely killed it. I've never seen so many people on the dance floor at once the entire night, including my father (not a big dancer) who did not sit down the entire night. Their crowd work and talent is impeccable -- at one point I just had to stop and watch the band because they were THAT good and I felt like I was at a show. During the wedding, Onyx is all anyone could talk about and still, 6 months later, everyone's still raving about them. BEST night of our life and best decision we made was booking this band.

Guests were on the dance floor the entire night; the way that they blended both old and new music made the inter-generational party incredible. They not only brought the party, but they became part of the party when they jumped into and interacted with the crowd. Ramon, Allie, and Evan were incredibly easy to work with - Ramon completely understood our vibe when we had our pre-wedding meeting with him, and Allie was attentive, responsive, and super easy to work with. . Every single person came up to me, asked who the band was, and even said they wished they hired you for their own weddings. We postponed our wedding due to Covid and the best part of planning was choosing the music. At the end everyone was shouting one more song. I had the most magical wedding experience. I will recommend your company to anyone. I remember after our first zoom with Evan, I rushed and called my mom to sign the contract almost 2 years ago. I knew it would be a success. I am even hearing about other recent weddings and everyone is saying “your band was the best we’ve ever heard” and this was the best wedding of their lives (and we are in our mid 30s.) Allie, was extremely patient with us! Up to the wedding day, she helped tremendously. This company was the best vendors to work with from start to finish.

t came up to us after to tell us how it was the best band they’ve ever seen at a wedding and equated the wedding to a fully interactive concert. And note this was not an easy feat as our wedding was interreligious and interracial, yet Onyx was able to keep every guest (most importantly my wife who is not always the biggest dancer) on the dance floor all night. Onyx’s breadth and depth of talent is unmatched and they perfectly transitioned from genre to genre only playing songs we wanted to hear throughout the night. Evan and Allie with Starlight Music are true professionals. Our favorite part of our wedding planning process was going through Starlight’s proprietary platform to review 300+ songs to pick which songs we would want Onyx to play and which songs were not our favorite. I’m not aware of any other company that offers something similar and it ensured that only our favorite songs played throughout the night. Evan and Allie were also always incredibly responsive whether it had to do with custom song requests to adding performers to give my wife the ceremony of her dreams. If you want to put on a wedding that your guests will never forget then it is a no brainer to go with Starlight and Onyx. Thank you again for making our wedding so special!

he ENTIRE night. The #1 feedback we have received about our wedding was that the band was “the best they’ve ever seen” and overall just mind-blowingly phenomenal. The Onyx Band is just made up of some ridiculously talented people who were having just as much fun with us and our guests as we were with them. I can’t say enough good things about them. Working with Ramon, Allie, and Evan was a dream scenario. They were all incredibly responsive and available throughout the whole planning process, and truly made it fun. I did not leave the dance floor for fear of missing out on a great song... I even accidentally dropped the knife while cutting our wedding cake because I wanted to run back to the dance floor with my fiancé.

Thanks to prep calls and music review emails, we felt like we were on the exact same page as to what the "vibe" of our wedding and its music was. When our reception day came, there was a huge snow storm, and certain members of the band couldn't make it into the city. However, they seamlessly found substitutes and the band sounded even better than they did when we had heard them a few years ago! We had them play piano and saxophone at our cocktail hour, and for dancing, they did a mix of contemporary music, Motown, disco, classics from the 70s and 80s, and 90s pop/hip hop...they even threw in a "Hamilton" medley for our Broadway-obsessed crowd! They have the best energy and such talented musicians (the singers and rappers especially)...all of our guests are still raving about them, as are we. Thank you Allie + team!

s we prepared to make our decision, including unedited vocal tracks (so that we could hear the raw talent of his performers) as well as videos from other events. As the date got closer, Evan and the Starlight team worked with us to create our ideal playlist, including special songs for our ceremony and our cocktail hour. They were also sensitive to our family dynamics and to our personal likes and dislikes. During the reception, the band kept everyone on their feet all night! We loved their plan for the flow of the evening, which maximized the time on the dance floor - we've since attended another wedding where this was not the case, and it was very noticeable! So many of our guests raved about how good the band was, and have asked for their information to recommend them for future weddings - everyone enjoyed themselves so much! We cannot thank Evan and Rock & Soul enough for all of their help and a fantastic evening!

Evan worked with us to select a new Starlight band - White Light - for our new 2021 date. We primarily worked with Allie and Mike (band leader) leading up to our wedding, and walked through the intricacies of the ceremony and special songs to us. Our guests keep telling us how much they loved our band, and we were more than happy to dance for 2+ hours to music that was tailored to our likes and wants. White Light even learned a few songs for us. I would highly recommend working with Starlight and the White Light!

insane. I could tell that there were some guests hesitant to get on the floor (in part due to covid), but the band leaving the stage and coming onto the floor was just what we needed. There was one point where two members were doing a Crazy In Love duet and I could swear I was watching a concert or music video. The cocktail hour singer (Elisa) was awesome and they chose the perfect playlist to compliment the vibe. The rapper (YSL) commands the room when he is on the mic and I can't imagine not having him there; he provides the band with a chance to have such great range and he is even better in person than videos. Tip: please get the 10-piece band that includes a female r&b singer and rapper, it is soooo worth it. The male R&B singer (Ashwi) was a favorite of ours—we requested specific songs because we saw him sing them on the preview videos, and he absolutely crushed each one. And of course, the band leader Denny Blake. I was able to briefly chat with him before and after everything, and I can't say enough about him or the band. He has the perfect rock voice, and is also such a great guy. I will hopefully never need another wedding band, but they will be recommended to anyone who will listen. Just about every guest told us how great the band was; there were rave reviews from anyone that was there from guests in their 20s to guests in their 80s. If I could only keep one vendor, this is the one. Their videos are incredible but only show about 1/3 of the performance you get in-person. Please do yourself a favor and book the Blake Band.

abulous musicians! The acoustics were spot on for every toast, the ceremony and vows, and all throughout the dance sets. Not only did they sing, but they performed! Our guests were dazzled with the choreographer dance moves and lit up when Evan or the saxophone player joined everyone on the dance floor. They wove in our "must play" songs with perfect selections to keep everyone moving and enjoying themselves. During dinner, the quieter music was perfect so our guests could enjoy conversation during that time. One of my absolute favorite parts of Rock & Soul was the Acoustic Trio during cocktail hour. So much more fun than a traditional Jazz Trio, and something our guests pointed out really set the mood for the evening. Rock & Soul band is worth every penny and will without a doubt help you have a memorable wedding!

mily wanted to boogie. What initially drew us to Starlight was the energy their bands bring to an event. They are not your typical wedding bands. Our first meeting with Evan was super informative, he answered every question we had. We went into our meeting knowing we LOVED Blake Band, which is who we ultimately ended up choosing for our special day. Denny, the band leader was so fun to work with. He is creative, gave great insight into songs we were deciding between, and really made our event feel different, which is ultimately what we wanted. We love brass, and Denny found fun ways to incorporate the trumpet and sax into our night, including an awesome version of Uptown Funk which had the horns grooving on the dance floor with everyone! And I have to shout out Elisa because I honestly believe you won't find a better female vocal for your wedding than her! Allie was our POC for all questions leading up to the event. It didn't matter what time of day I emailed her, she always responded within a few hours. The bottom line is a wedding band is an investment, and I honestly think choosing Blake Band, or any Starlight Music band is the right call. They are extremely talented, bring a great energy, and have competitive pricing. Starlight cares about its customers and doesn't just see you as a pay day. Evan and his team truly want to make your day special. So thank you Evan, Allie, Denny, Elisa, and the whole Blake Band crew for making our wedding day so incredible. That dance floor was off the charts thanks to you!

Drew worked with us to develop a song list. On our wedding day, it poured rain. Drew showed up with excitement and just made it work. Our wedding was a resounding success in no small part because Drew’ s music was SO special and perfect. All of the stress of wedding planning and 2020 melted away. We will always be grateful to them for making our backyard wedding extra wonderful.

st fun and enjoyable event for everyone attending. It was especially memorable as we all celebrated a week before the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut shelter-at-home order was implemented. Everyone danced their hearts out and the selection of music was perfect. There is no need to explore any other group. In addition to being an outstanding vocalist with a dynamic personality, Evan is also very flexible and able to work collaboratively with couples to provide a customized entertainment package rather than something that is typical and boring.
