Let me start with this: we ultimately had to ask our wedding video editor to mute Stephanie’s string ensemble’s performance during our ceremony and replace it with the original cov...er we had requested—because the performance simply didn’t meet even a basic standard of quality. It was one of the few disappointments on an otherwise perfect day.
Also, don’t be misled by the seemingly flawless 5-star reviews. My previous review—written respectfully and without violating any guidelines—was removed, which is why I’m sharing this again. And so, there might’ve been negative reviews from other people removed as well. I genuinely wish someone had warned us before we booked.
Stephanie is a truly gifted harpist—her solo performances are captivating and elegant. However, I urge caution to anyone considering hiring additional musicians from her ensemble. While Stephanie’s own talent is undeniable, the same cannot be said of the musicians she brings on.
We initially hired her with a violinist and cellist for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and at her suggestion, we added a violist last-minute to complete a string quartet. Unfortunately, this addition proved to be a major misstep. After reviewing our wedding footage and listening to audio recordings, it became painfully clear that the violist lacked professional-level skill. His bowing was awkward and hesitant, he visibly struggled to keep up, and his sound was either inaudible or out of sync with the rest of the group. Upon researching further, we found no indication that he had any formal training or relevant performance experience. For Stephanie to include someone so underqualified in a once-in-a-lifetime event like a wedding showed a serious lack of professional integrity.
Worse, several key musical moments we carefully planned were completely missed or altered. We requested a custom “Perfect-Jesu” medley (Ed Sheeran’s Perfect combined with Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring), which they agreed to play, but only Perfect was performed. The groom’s entrance song wasn’t played at all—they repeated the ring bearer’s song instead and missed the planned transition. These mistakes reflected a lack of attention to detail and preparation.
When we shared our concerns with Stephanie post-wedding, her response was dismissive. She claimed our wedding coordinator liked the music and planned to recommend her—ignoring that we were her actual clients and that our preferences were clear and specific. It’s also worth noting that the coordinator isn’t a classically trained musician, whereas my husband, who is, immediately noticed the ensemble’s lack of polish.
If you’re booking Stephanie, I suggest hiring her as a soloist only. Her harp playing is beautiful. But for an ensemble, look elsewhere. Hire Juilliard-trained student musicians instead—they’re far more professional, reliable, and often charge the same or less. Unless your guests are completely untrained musically, they will notice the difference. Our wedding was incredible in so many ways—but hiring this ensemble remains one of our few regrets.
