Stephanie Mai Atelier is a hidden gem in the heart of Portland. What I truly admire and appreciate most is the dedication and passion that both Stephanie and Vivian bring to their ...
craft. You can see that commitment reflected in every beautiful, timeless gown they create.
Every stitch is carefully sewn by hand, with each dress thoughtfully crafted and tailored to meet the bride’s individual needs and desires. It’s rare to find designers who are not only incredibly hardworking, but who also pay such close attention to the smallest details and continually strive for perfection.
Their artistry, craftsmanship, and genuine dedication make the experience truly special. If you’re looking for a bridal gown that feels personal, beautifully made, and timeless, Stephanie Mai Atelier is truly a hidden gem worth discovering.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Support small-family businesses! I was referred to Stephanie by a friend who customed her wedding dress and mother of the bride dress! I came in wanting to just a...
lter and change up the design of my mother's dress for the ceremony.. but I looked over her designs in her lovely quant studio and realized I would love to try out the custom design route for my reception dress. I couldn't find THE ONE in other boutiques, even in the East Coast. Stephanie made my experience WORTHWHILE as she made it visually better than I expected, luxurious, cost-efficient in comparison to buying a brand new dress then altering, AND helping me with such a THOROUGH process with meticulous detail down to the positioning of lace with the help of her daughter (hand-sewn lace master Vivian). I can not imagine a result better elsewhere!
Stephanie and Vivianne did a beautiful job with my wedding dress and brought to life an idea I had to reuse parts of my grandmothers dress but update it and make it my own. The fin...
al product was exactly what I had hoped for -- they carefully removed the patches my grandmother had made from her original dress and sewed them into a brand new dress made custom for me. They worked with me to pick out the fabric and style I wanted and did multiple fittings to get the fit just right. Unfortunately, the closer we got to the wedding, the more delayed things became and there were multiple sessions where they did not deliver what we had agreed on, which meant that I had to schedule an extra session and the dress was not completely finished until the night before I had to fly out for my wedding. I also spent a good deal of time during a few of the sessions waiting for them to finish things that should've been done before I arrived. This was stressful and upsetting, given we already had a lot to do to prepare for the wedding. What bothered me the most was that Stephanie and Vivianne did not fully acknowledge these delays, but made me feel like I had misunderstood or misheard. Overall, I am very grateful to them for making me a beautiful wedding dress and would recommend working with them but giving yourself extra wiggle room in your timeline and getting expectations and deliverables in writing if you are worried about timing.
I was lucky to have Stephanie tailoring the wedding dress to fit my petite body, and she’s so talented customizing a tulle overskirt design exclusively for me, so I got to look mor...

Stephanie is a gem to work with as an independent designer, and she has sharp eyes of fashion sense. Don’t miss out if you’re looking for a WOW! dress on any special occasions.

ul day in November at Skamania Lodge in the Gorge and the number one thing everybody said was how stunning the dress was! It fit me perfectly! In her work, Stephanie is a perfectionist in the best way. She’s all about making sure the custom dress fits like a glove while also being kind and fun to work with. She’s flexible and goes out of her way to make sure the entire experience is enjoyable. I highly recommend working with Stephanie! Thank you Stephanie!

rom her sample rack while my friends looked on. The dress I chose was stunning, and Stephanie spent the next several months creating that same design into a new dress, using a pattern specially fitted to me. I was thrilled to discover that her prices are very fair, and highly competitive when compared with other bridal shops. She was incredible throughout the design process, giving attention to the smallest details, and searching everywhere for the perfect lining fabric for my dress. I went back to her studio for multiple fittings, each time given a sincere welcome. She even let me bring in a large group of friends and family when they were all in town at one point! The end result was a dress that is a work of art, that fits me so perfectly. I received so many compliments on my wedding day, and many were about my gown. I highly recommend her!
Stephanie was absolutely amazing! I just happened to get a dress with a whole lace overlay and the work that needed to get done to tailor was very extensive. Stephanie was always v...
ery helpful and we had many sessions to make sure my dress was exactly what I wanted and I was able to keep the cost of the changes in my budget. The wedding dress is one of the most important pieces of a wedding for some and it was very reassuring to have Stephanie working on it. I'm hoping to use her services again in the future!
During late spring and summer of 2016, my daughter, Megan, and I worked closely with Stephanie Mai on the design and production of Megan’s wedding gown. After walking past her Po...
rtland studio and seeing some of her designs in the window, we knew Stephanie was the right person to work with Megan and create the perfect dress for her wedding. We were not disappointed. The process was not only educational, but inclusive at every stage. Over time, the perfect dress was fitted and finished with impeccable detail and thoughtful care. I’ll never forget Megan’s face when she tried her dream dress on one last time before leaving the studio. Success! We highly recommend Stephanie Mai if you are looking for a unique, one-of-a-kind, dress for any special occasion, but most especially, for the wedding of your daughter.
I had my wedding dress designed and made by Stephanie. I chose Stephanie because of her creativity and attention to detail. Most importantly, I needed someone who has experience ...

or alterations. Stephanie's designs are ultra feminine but they are never girlie, strong but never heavy, they are beautiful!
I had few pieces designed and custom made. Stephanie worked closely with me through the whole process to ensure I have the pieces that look fantastic and I felt special on, plus they fitted like a dream 😊✨! She is incredible professional, lovely and skilled.
The studio exudes such nice atmosphere, location is great, good parking, so overall, I had an amazing experience as the service is upscale and distinctive".
I am very satisfied with how Stephanie has designed my dress! It turned out the exactly the way I envisioned it. She also altered another dress of mine, and that came out beautiful...
as well.
I am very disappointed on my interactions with Stephanie. I was referred by BHDLN in Portland to go to her. She made a good impression on the first appointment, but cancelled the ...
second appointment at 6 pm the night before and said the dress wasn't finished (I already had family drive 5 hours for the fitting). The third appointment also had to be rescheduled to later that day due to her having a "time conflict" at my scheduled appointment time. The dress was still not done when we arrived, and we had to wait over an hour to have it finished up by her staff. I would not go to her again. Her website says that steaming is included, but it is not. I pulled it up on her website to show her, and her response was that it was an error and her staff isn't trained to steam, though she has a steamer in the fitting area. I would not go to her again for any alterations.
I thought I had bought my dream dress... But Stephanie brought it to life! Stephanie is so skilled at taking a beautiful canvas and making it unique to you. I loved my dress but sh...
e made it personalized. By the time she was done with it I had a custom dress. She had created art that hugged my curves but was still easy to move and sit in.
She is truly a skilled and lovely person to work with. She is worth every penny!!!
