Professional, great music selections, responsive, and very easy to work with! Hired him for a wedding in Cincinnati, OH and with travel it still a cost effective option for our wedding. Would highly recommend!

My husband and I hired Stephen for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. He was very professional, quickly responded to my emails, and flexible with our song requests allowing us to pick what we would like. He is very talented and made our wedding day special. Our guests all commented on how lovely his music was for our ceremony and cocktail hour. He was even able to play hip hop/pop for our cocktail hour! Cannot wait to see our wedding video to hear more of his music! We highly recommend Stephen and I would easily request him for any parties/events in the future! Thank you Stephen for making our day special!

Stephen was amazing. He is so kind, organized, and was great to work with. Stephen did a great job making sure everything was set to our expectations before the event, and he exceeded what we were looking for on the day of! We loved having Stephen play for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour- highly recommend!!

I am heartbroken and extremely disappointed by Stephen. We had a video conference with him months before our wedding to discuss the ceremony music outline. We expressed to him how important it was to play Canon in D during the procession of the brides. We were so excited to work with him, that we even requested a string trio, an option that he offered. Fast forward to the actual wedding, the string trio completely messed up the order of music and ended up playing the wrong song for both the procession of the bridesmaids and brides. Canon in D was never played at our ceremony, despite rehearsing this with Stephen two days before our wedding. We followed up with him after the wedding to ask for a partial refund. He only offered to refund us 1/4 of what we paid for services, songs that we did not request to be played during the procession of the brides. I asked him to at least give us 50% of what we payed, given that he did not play the correct songs. He stated “ My apologies again for any inconvenience; per the contract, I am unable to give a refund. However, as a courtesy and to honor your special day, I can return___as a courtesy fee.” No where in the contract does it state that Stephen cannot offer a refund in the event that the requested music is not played during an event. In fact, his contract states “Stephen Spottswood shall insure the music requested is performed according to the style of the original recording” and “will play musical services for their wedding ceremony including requested music.” He did not play the requested music, thus in breach of the contract. My wife and I continued to plead with him to give us at least half of what we paid. His response “ I am willing to return a courtesy fee. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience. If that is not unacceptable then there is nothing else I can do. I understand your frustration; however, I am willing to return a courtesy fee. Thank you.” It is a courtesy to his brand and business that my wife and I only asked for a partial refund and not a full refund that we are entitled to. Furthermore, to this day, we have yet to receive even the partial refund. Stephen claims he works hard to make sure a couple’s wedding day is special, but that is not true. He doesn’t seem to care that he made such a critical mistake on an extremely important day. I am shocked by his nonchalant approach to everything. Very, very hurtful. I do not recommend working with him under any condition. Again, still waiting on the “courtesy” refund that he promised.

Stephen was great! He is very talented and has a nice range of music selections. He was professional, polite and responded to my questions in a timely manner. He was also helpful in making music suggestions. He made our wedding event classy and memorable. I will book him again in the future.

Honestly, we are pretty disappointed with Stephen. We had a video conference with him prior to the wedding to discuss the flow. He came plenty early which was great. Unfortunately, he did not play during the unity ceremony which was one of the most important features for me. We even tried to stall in the moment but the entire thing was completely missed. He also left earlier than we had discussed (he books by number of songs and not by the hour) and told my husband it was because we started late but he “played a lot for you guys”. We were really disappointed. We initially seen him perform at a jazz night we had supported in our community- so we booked him for our wedding. Unfortunately, he just kinda missed the mark the day of with no apparent care or concern.

Stephen was absolutely amazing to work with! We needed a musician for our church ceremony very last minute. Not only was Stephen available, but he went above and beyond and even learned the song I walked down the aisle to! There wasn't a dry eye in the building. He was very professional and prompt throughout the entire process. He is incredibly talented and hard working, and I would recommend him 100 times over for your special event.

I can't express how satisfied we were with Stephen. He really made out night special. The communication process from start to finish was very smooth. He was very open to our music choice and played to the audience. By far worth every single penny. If you want an amazing event you can't do it without Stephen. 10/10

Stephen was so incredibly easy to work with. I booked kind of last minute and he responded right away and was ready to jump into the music. He played all of the requests I had and I keep getting compliments about how great the ceremony was. I definitely recommend Stephen for your event. Stephen was easy to work with, communicate with, and most importantly, he was an amazing violinist. He brought elegance to our wedding ceremony and many guests commented on the beautiful violin playing. Thank you so much, Stephen!
