We used the Sterling String Quartet for our ceremony music and were thrilled. They are extremely talented musicians and elevated the entire ceremony. Margaret is super easy to work with and was more than happy to track down / arrange string quartet arrangements for some non-traditional wedding songs we were hoping to use - then played them beautifully. Thank you Margaret!
Sterling Strings completely made our ceremony. I envisioned romantic, classic, but fun music for our ceremony and Margaret and her team completely delivered. Since our wedding was 3 days before Christmas, Margaret suggested some upbeat Christmas classics for guests while people were getting seated. She seamlessly blended them in with regular wedding classics which completely elevated that moment for our guests. During the planning she was readily available and answered our questions quickly. She provided thoughtful suggestions and options throughout planning, while keeping our vision intact. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful the ceremony was, which wouldn’t have been possible without Sterling Strings. Thank you!
We got married outside in Thetford, VT, and Sterling String Quartet played during our ceremony and cocktail hour. Overall, they were great and were easy to work with, and we'd recommend them to others.
*PREPARATION*
Margaret (Gilmore), with whom we worked, visited the wedding site twice beforehand, once several months out and again the day before for the rehearsal. Because of this, there were no issues at all with the siting or program during the ceremony itself or after, during the cocktail. Margaret was responsive by email, and informative and helpful about things we weren’t knowledgeable about. (Like which among several arrangements was the best.)
*ACCOMMODATION*
We were more choosy about music than Margaret may have been used to, but she was respectful of our choices and in the end the music was what we wanted: less familiar but appropriate musical selections for the prelude and processional music and a pop arrangement ("Happy Together" by the turtles) for our recessional. When I sought out sheet music for pieces she didn't have music for, she was happy to then incorporate those pieces into the ceremony.
The quartet was also flexible about where to play while being clear about its needs (shelter from the elements; they bring their own covering usually).
*PERFORMANCE*
Because we were somewhat... busy and engrossed during the ceremony and cocktail hour, we can't say we were 100% focused on the music, but what we did hear was good, and what we heard from our guests was all positive.
