ap sleeves, pockets, lace detail, which was very hard to find in salons filled with chiffon, mermaid cut, strapless gowns. I saw a photo of my dress via a google search and knew it was the one. I went to the showroom in Chelsea a few days before Christmas 2016, tried it on and that was that. There was no other dress. It was so refreshing to be the only one trying on dresses and Anthony is so helpful and positive. I found choosing and altering the dress one of the more stress-inducing parts of wedding planning and Steven, Anthony were there and so calm throughout the whole process.
In the end, my only regret is not standing up more strongly for some of my practical concerns about the dress in my fittings. Having the designer of the dress in the room was a unique opportunity and I understood that he designed the dress to look a certain way, but I wish they had been more receptive. While the dress looked beautiful on the day, it was a touch too long (all the way to the floor), which would have been fine if I were inside and standing in my heels all day, but I had an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour and wanted to dance all night, all of which were difficult to navigate in a dress that still touched the floor in four inch heels. For future brides, I would advise a balance between style and function on the day. Up to 12 hours in a dress is a long time and you should be happy and comfortable.

Dresses: The selection of dresses here is extremely classy and elegant. My experience was one of hating most of what was being featured in the major bridal salons. Visiting Steven Birnbaum Bridal felt like finding an oasis in a desert — suddenly I was surrounded by timeless pieces. I ended up selecting a dress by Robert Bullock (who is no longer a part of the salon), but I loved so many of the dresses here by both Birnbaum and Bullock. They use exquisite materials and are beautifully constructed. Most of the dresses here are definitely north of $1500-2000, but there were several in my budget of $2000-2500.
Selection Process: Again, unlike the other bridal salons I visited, this place is calm and quiet and you are treated with the utmost attention and respect. It really helps that they pin you into dresses instead of the megaclips. I was so fortunate that Anthony guided me through trying several dresses on. He and I both knew when I tried on the perfect dress for me, and he helped me to understand what about it was complementary to my figure and my tastes. I received 100% of his attention the whole time.
Service: I was an incredibly annoying bride and kept visiting my dress and calling to ask questions about it, since I was having a veil custom made and wanted to be sure it matched my dress. No matter how many times I inconvenienced this staff (not just Anthony but also Shannon and Darcy), they were nothing but respectful and helpful! I couldn’t have felt more supported by them. Also, they really see you through to the end — there were never any hidden charges, and they even work with a dry cleaner and preserver at the end of it, so I didn’t have to navigate researching that for myself. Steven altered my dress and did a beautiful job of it. He knows all these dresses so intimately and I felt like I got first-class treatment from him. This is a one-stop shop that is extremely professionally run.

n NYC but was getting married in Cleveland. After trying on other terrible dresses at salons in Cleveland, I came back to Birnbaum and ending up buying the very first dress I tried on. The assistant, Anthony, is so fantastic at his job; I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but he urged me to try on all sorts of styles, and it was a truly wonderful experience. It's a small, quiet, clean salon. Oh, and no weird industrial clamps holding the dresses up/on! They take a lot of time and effort with each bride, it's a truly refreshing experience.
Also worth noting, Steven, the owner/designer is there during each fitting appointment, so you really are getting the very best care. I could not recommend this salon enough!

I was stood up for my first appointment and was waiting out in the cold for a half hour due to the "mix up". (Mind you, I received a confirmation call the day before). The wrong belt was ordered and I thankfully had enough time to have the correct one re-ordered. I was also stood up for my final fitting and had to rush in mid-day the next day. Steven is wonderful, talented and helpful. However his staff is not and if you purchase a dress, reconfirm everything with him. There were too many "mistakes" to be deemed acceptable for one very important purchase.

From the moment I stepped into the salon, I immediately felt a sense of serenity. I was greeted by a charming Robert Bullock, the designer himself! The salon was clean, quiet, and inviting. Robert listened to my preferences and gently encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone by picking a few gowns for me. I already felt like I was the only bride in the world. :)
Although I did not truly have the intention of purchasing a dress that day, Robert pulled out a ringer. Once I stepped into the Cora gown, I knew I would never want to step into another gown ever again. It's as if Robert knew that the gown was made for me and my body type.
Going forward, I worked with Stephen Birnbaum for my fittings, one of the sweetest people I have ever met. He was honest and I felt 100% confident in the alteration process.
Two years and 300 bridal gown shows later, I did not regret my decision. On our wedding day, my friends and family were wowed by the uniqueness and craftsmanship of the gown. I even had a few requests to borrow it because they had never seen anything like it!

whirlwind weekend of wedding dress shopping and after a couple less than pleasant experiences at other establishments Birnbaum & Bullock was a much needed breath of fresh air. Calm, complimentary, low pressure and down-to-earth. We were greeted at the door by Robert Bullock and worked with consultant Mandy - who was wonderful. We were allowed to look through the dresses ourselves and all were clearly labeled with prices. Together we picked a selection of dresses to try on - she took into account my vision and contributed a few suggestions of her own as well. I ultimately ended up falling in love with one of her suggestions, a couture gown from Steven Birnbaum's collection, Paige.
I had a seamless fitting experience as well. I worked directly with Steven Birnbaum, my measurements were taken perfectly and at each of my six fittings the dress fit beautifully with just small tweaks needed. At my final fitting he carefully explained the bustle to one of my bridesmaids. Steven was wonderful to work with very kind, patient and understanding in addition to being so talented. One major stress factor for me was that the dress had to be shipped to Minneapolis but Steven and the staff were very reassuring, handling the shipping and providing me tracking information. The dress made it to Minneapolis without incident and just needed a simple professional steam to remove the few creases that resulted from being in a box.
On my wedding day the dress fit perfectly and was everything hoped for. I received so many compliments about how the dress was truly me and I felt absolutely beautiful. A million thanks to Steven Birnbaum and the crew at Birnbaum & Bullock for making the whole wedding dress process so calm and wonderful. I would highly recommend them to any bride.

showroom felt (not that I didn't love the Kleinfeld experience, too, but this was a breath of calm and fresh air) and the fact that one of the designers was always around for a fitting was a great comfort.
As for the dress itself, I absolutely loved it; it was modern, traditional and unlike any dress I've seen. The fitting process was a breeze compared to the horror stories I've heard from friends, and I felt their prices were fair. I can't recommend this place enough — it's a gem, and so are the designers!

Steven Birnbaum did all of the fittings and alterations on my dress, which made me feel incredibly comfortable knowing that one of the designers was handling the alterations- how lucky is that?! o glad that I did because once I got to B&B I was blown away by their selection, craftsmanship and customer service. I fell in love with a few gowns and went back several times to try them on. They had so many elegant, beautiful gowns to choose from it was hard to select just one! They were so patient with me on every visit, not making me feel like a number or rushing me out when the appointment was over. I also really appreciated and enjoyed that the designers themselves are present and on the sales floor for appointments. So you get personal attention from them for suggestions and they are involved in all alteration appointments. I had purchased my dress a year in advance, and when it was time to finally pick it up to take home (after 3 fittings), both Steven and Darcy said that they couldn't believe how quickly the day had come. It felt like they really understood who I was and that they were just as excited as I was. My dress turned out absolutely GORGEOUS. The sweetheart top definitely made the difference to me and the dot netting made it very "me".

B&B has three different collections which each vary greatly by style and price. You and your bridesmaids can look through the dresses yourselves and thus determine what it is exactly that you are looking for.
There are only 2-3 dressing rooms so you truly receive the attention you deserve when looking for your perfect dress.
B&B also lets you design your own jacket/bolero/shoulder and arm coverings in whatever way you would like so that you are covered in the way that makes you feel the most comfortable - for a very reasonable price. So not only do you end up with a gorgeous dress but you have literally played a part in designing your outfit.

I found Birnbaum and Bullock through a Yelp Review and added them to my list for my day of wedding dress shopping. They were our first stop and welcomed our whole party in and allowed my bridesmaids to help pull dresses from the racks while Robert, the designer, even pulled dresses for me that he thought would compliment my body shape. Tonya, their Sales Manager, helped me through my entire appointment and is the most amazing person ever. She is so kind and let me know that there was absolutely no pressure and I really should just try on dresses to get an idea of what I wanted in a dress, but should not worry about buying a dress on my first time out. They provided me with all the pricing up front and told me that if I wanted to come back to look at one of my favorites anytime that weekend that I should (I lived out of state).
I returned 2 months later with my grandmother to show her my favorite dress, and when she loved it, I knew it was the one. We purchased it there and then and set up my fitting schedule which was more difficult because again I lived in California. I set a fitting for July (2 months before the big day) and then since I lived out of state, Robert decided that I should have a last fitting on Thursday (2 days before my wedding). It was amazing, there were alterations that needed to be done that day and they had them done within 3 hours!
They even cleaned my dress after the wedding!

The selection was great. I tried on 6 dresses, liked 2 of them but then asked Steven Birnbaum if I was missing anything I should've tried on. He handed me THE dress. It was the style of one of the dresses I liked and the detail of the other I liked - perfect combination. I knew immediately that it was the one. My fittings with Robert were always a treat. Amazing! My only complaint is that at the reception the bustle did not work for the organza layer of the dress, just the main fabric part. Not a big deal at all... will need to get it repaired from the ad hoc fix we tried that didn't work well, but despite that I loved my dress and they made the experience of shopping alone SOOOO Much easier and better! Plus I was lucky enough to find a fabulous SAMPLE dress for half the cost of already good values on their dresses.

When I went into Birnbaum and Bullock I was excited to see many dresses that I would consider and I loved so many of them. I ended up getting one of the beautiful couture gowns. I made some changes to the amount of fabric on the bottom of the gown and they were willing to work with me in order to make me feel comfortable. I absolutely loved the end product!!! Robert and Steven were so great to work with throughout the whole process. They made it stress-free and fun. I highly recommend Birnbaum and Bullock for a wedding dress!

fabric and construction and since it was from their "couture" line the price included any necessary alterations. Either Steven or Robert was at each fitting and I trusted them completely to make sure the dress did everything possible for me. (They are justifiably proud of their work and I don't think they'd let someone spend money on anything that was unflattering or wrong for them.) I was very comfortable in my dress and it looked as perfect at the end of the night even though our wedding day was hot & humid. Except at sample sales (which are well-controlled) they have only one bride at a time in the salon, which was a welcome difference from other bridal salons.

I went in for several fittings and Robert accommodated my request to add straps to my strapless dress (for a quick "costume change" between ceremony and reception) at the very end of the fitting process. I will never again underestimate the hard work that goes into making a custom-made dress! All the fittings were worth it because on my wedding day, my dress fit like a glove. I received many compliments on the dress, from friends to even the vendors. Birnbaum and Bullock made finding the perfect dress a wonderful experience and I wholeheartedly recommend them to any bride in search of service and quality.

n. It is a beautiful silk dress with a lace overlay in a classic yet modern (not old fashioned) style. When I bought my dress, I weighed 30 pounds more than when I was actually fitted (over a year later) but Steven worked miracles with the dress. It was taken apart and at each fitting, Steven worked one layer at a time (first the silk slip, then the lace overlay, then the cap sleeves, etc.). My favorite part of the Birnbaum & Bullock experience was being fitted directly by the dress designers and receiving their advice and personal attention -- even though the dress had been a sample and I didn't pay what many others might pay for a designer dress. At the fittings, I was the only person there and it was a wonderfully, unstressful experience. My dress came out amazing and I couldn't have been happier. Finally, Steven even went out of his way to help me fix my headpiece (even though I did not buy it at B&B) which kept slipping off my head before he fixed it! Thank you!!!

I went to all of the big (and many of the small) bridal salons in Manhattan. I had found a couple of dresses that I liked,...
but never "the one." I, in fact, didn't find "the one" at B&B either, so they made me a custom gown that combined 3 of their existing designs. The gown in beautiful and made from only quality natural silks - it was beautiful, and I received tons of compliments on it.
Having the dress made for me was a great process. I started early (about 9-10 months ahead), and went to see them every 2-3 months while they tweaked the corset so that it fit exactly and worked on designing the dress. They were always happy to stay late so that I could come for these fittings after work or schedule the fittings on the weekends (even Sunday) so that my mom (from Missouri) could be there for a few of the fittings.
They kept making every little change to the dress until everyone (me, my mom, and even my dad) was happy. My parents picked up the dress, and Robert even brought it down so that they wouldn't have to worry about finding parking! Awesome service!

During the alterations process I worked with Steven Birnbaum. He was amazing. The dress had to be taken down many sizes, but I was not worried at all. Since you work with the actual designers they know what is possible with the dresses. In the end it fit perfectly. The quality of the dresses and the service is wonderful. It was really a perfect experience.
