- Steven VanceChief Entertainment OfficerSteve recently celebrated his 5,000th gig over the past 25+ years which is one of the reasons we have been able to collect over 1,000 reviews on The Knot and Wedding Wire. His music journey started in 5th grade when a music program was formed in St. Ambrose School by testing kids for musical aptitude - but he was not one of the kids chosen. Fortunately, several parents sent back instruments and the rest is history. Steve was very involved in music through college as the General Manager of the university radio station and concert planner for the student council. After college, he lived at the Grand Canyon in AZ where he began to play again as a fiddler with a bluegrass band. From there a Country band, then while managing a fine dining restraurant started doing Strolling Violin. Soon after his schedule filled up, he started booking other musicians and added String Ensembles, DJ's and other services to the roster. Most recently, he innovated the PopRock Electric Violin concept which has blossomed into a major part of his performing. He now represents more than a dozen people doing this in multiple cities on the East Coast. Office Manager Susan Raposa has been with us for 15 years and knows all the ins and outs. She is the interface between couples and performers and we could not do this without her. She spent several years working for other entertainment agencies so she must like it here. Our performers come from all walks of life, musical backgrounds and experiences skill sets but all are professional and experienced. You can see many of the names in the reviews. There are performers who claim to do what we do but we don't think they meet our standards of performance and professionalism. We like to think we offer the best of the best.

ny song to be played! We had 30 minutes of prelude music of our choosing followed by processionals, recessionals, and two postlude pieces. Aaron was our violinist and did an excellent job! We even paid for them to bring a microphone for our officiant, and everything was executed so smoothly. Our DJ, Mike Russell, met with us in advance and followed our plans for the night flawlessly. We shared a Spotify playlist for the dance music, and he played all of our must-plays and timed the rest of the songs well to keep the dance floor going. We surprised our guests with fireworks, and he even played “Born in the USA” inside during them, which could be heard lightly in the background. Such a fun touch we hadn’t thought of! Highly recommend!

We also had a live violinist, Lina, for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and she was unbelievable. She played modern music with such talent and style that our guests couldn’t stop talking about it. The vibe she created was elegant, fun, and completely unforgettable—exactly what we were hoping for.
Once the reception started, Anthony kept the dance floor rocking all night long—so much so that we literally broke the dance floor! He read the crowd flawlessly, kept the energy high, and made the entire night unforgettable. Truly couldn’t have asked for a better DJ. Highly, highly recommend!

im. He played beautifully and knew exactly what songs to play as he read the room. During planning, he offered suggestions and amplified our ideas, which made the process so comfortable. He is such a professional. He even waited until I was around to play my favorite songs, sharing a knowing smile with me as he did. It meant so much to me, and it is something I will remember for the rest of my life as I think back on our wedding day.
We also hired a DJ through Steven Vance Entertainment, and we were matched with Joe Molinaro. Joe was awesome! He was so helpful during planning, and kept the party going all night. He even had guests out on the dance floor so early that we had to kick them out to do our father/daughter dance!
In conclusion, you will not regret your decision to hire Steven Vance Entertainment, as I'm sure all of their musicians/DJs are as professional and talented as Steven and Joe.

3 hours all for a reasonable price. The electric violinist, Charles May, played during our cocktail hour and he was excellent! He sent us a list of songs to chose from if we wanted and even learned two new songs at our request. Our guests really enjoyed listening to him play during our cocktail hour. Our DJ was Mike Russel. He was very professional to work with. We had a phone meeting a couple weeks ahead of the wedding where we went over the reception timeline and he made sure he knew how to properly pronounce everyone's names. He kept the reception moving according to schedule, which was a huge help! I only wish he kept the dance floor a little bit more hyped during the dancing portion of the reception. The photobooth attendant's name was Art. He was also very professional to work with. He was able to customize our photo strips to fit the theme of our wedding. The photobooth was a traditional booth rather than just an open set up with a backdrop. It came with tons of fun props. The photobooth was such a fun addition to our reception that our guests loved. We got an album of all the photo strips as well as a flash drive. Overall, the entertainment at our wedding was great and I would recommend working with Steven Vance Entertainment!

And when I would forget to respond to her, she kept me in check which is needed when you’re planning a big event! Her team also did the same and it was much appreciated! Our instrumentalists did a wonderful job. Juan, the lead would reach out to me about what I was looking for and was very accommodating, he would go out of his way to find something that would work with the song selections I wanted for those important moments. We received many compliments on their work and it sounded beautiful! We had Mike as our DJ. a great and unique choice it was to have a live violinist at our wedding. I will be honest, a lot of my family thought we were taking a big risk on this, but it was really great to hear and see their reactions when he started playing. We had several people ask him for his information at our wedding, and ask us for it after as well.
I can't remember the name of the DJ who played our reception, but he was good. He was dealing with some family stuff the week of our wedding so communication was a little touch and go, but he had a back up DJ booked in case he wasn't going to be able to be at our wedding. Considering the situation, he did everything in his power to make it right, and ended up being able to be there in the end. All our names were announced correctly, and he kept the night going pretty well. We had a mix of young and old guests, and I think he played to both groups. He also made sure to come and check with me that an unplanned speech could happen when requested by a family member, which I truly appreciated.
Overall, we had a great experience with both Steven and the DJ he booked for us.

rior to our wedding day we met directly with Steven to go through our timeline so that everyone was on the same page. He also had us complete a form which included a play list / do not play list which was comforting for us as we’d been to many weddings where DJs play music that is not wedding appropriate. We were especially pleased with his MC services as he knew how to control the crowd and alert people of different events happening throughout the evening. He especially knew what to play to keep guests on the dance floor and having a great time! Steven had a lot of experience and it showed through in all phases of the services he provided. -star is very unfair. Their claim was our photobooth was "broke". It was down for 5-10 minutes because several unattended children were running in and out of it which likely cause a malfunction requiring a simple restart.. This has been verified by the independent on-site wedding planner. All other contracted terms were provided. We even opened the booth early at the bride's request. s to find a DJ that suited our needs. DJ Mike served as the DJ for both our ceremony and reception. He was courteous, made an effort to pronounce our names correctly (half of the wedding party was Chinese American) and for the most part played what we had requested. He was also able to work with us despite there being a drizzle/rain at our outdoor ceremony. Unfortunately, he played the wrong song for our recessional, despite our reviewing it with him beforehand and sending over the planning sheet that was provided by Steven Vance. He played one of the postlude pieces instead (which we had considered for the recessional but was not our first choice). We also felt that the grand entrance could have been handled better, as we had wanted to have the party enter one by one, but he called them out as couples. To be fair, this was not discussed beforehand and probably should have been. Overall, we had a great wedding and these small hiccups did not interfere with our enjoyment of the day or the music. We do feel that the quality of DJs working under Steven Vance may be variable and want others to be aware. We were surprised that our DJ only received 50% of our total payment with the rest going to the company.

play the requested song for recessional, as he shows on his planning sheet, but changes were being made up until 5 minutes before. Having been through his many times before myself, I know how tricky this can be. Things can be lost in the last-minute communication, which is why we try to set a plan in advance. 2. It was raining, not drizzling. Mike ruined an expensive wireless mic because it had out be out in the rain even though he had been told that the ceremony would be moved inside in case of bad weather. 3. The balance payment you made to Mike was not his full payment. It was only the remainder of what he was owed. We take great care to make sure our performers are paid fairly and are aware of their compensation before they agree to take the event.

The week of our wedding I let Steven know we needed a VERY specific version of a song played for our first dance because we were surprising our guests with a choreographed dance and he played it spot on! Our guests are still raving about his performance during our ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. If you want your guests, months later, still talking about how awesome your wedding was book Steven Vance ASAP!
We had DJ Nacho who we also booked through Steven Vance Entertainment provide DJ services during our reception (this was a wonderful and convenient feature to have both performers booked through one company). He kept the party going and all of our guests out on the dance floor! We had a unique bridal party entrance that went to the starting lineup of the Chicago Bulls and DJ Nacho outdid himself with the script we gave him!
Both Steven Vance and DJ Nacho were extremely professional, great entertainers, and executed our requests flawlessly. We couldn’t be happier with our experience!

couldn’t get over how lovely it sounded and how talented he was, so we grabbed a business card on the way out and talked with him for a few minutes. When it came time to planning our wedding, I instantly remembered Steven. When I told my then-fiancé, he made the connection that one of Steven’s violinists had also played at his dad and stepmother’s wedding. How could we ignore all of those signs? We reached out to Steven right away and booked an electric violinist (Ron Molinaro – the same violinist from my in-laws’ wedding!), DJ (Mike Greca) and photo booth (Art Campbell) all through his company. It was so simple and very reasonable for all of that entertainment for the evening! Ron did such a beautiful job during the ceremony and happy hour, and our guests couldn’t say enough about how he clearly enjoys his work. Mike kept everyone out on the floor all night long, and he played all of our favorite songs we requested. Our guests loved the photo booth, and Art provided us with a wonderful album and flash drives of all the photos taken that evening. We can’t say enough good things about each of them, and we would highly recommend Steven Vance Entertainment for your next event!

Steven was so accommodating in helping us find the right music. He was such an entertaining DJ, and played exactly the type of music all night that we were hoping for. He made the entire process incredibly smooth, and we got so many compliments on his work from our guests.
