Plus, we really just wanted live music for the first half of the wedding, whereas for actual dancing, we just wanted to bop around to all of our favorite remixes. We jokingly asked our planner if this was possible, and she surprised us by recommending Michael! And he did exactly that - it was the perfect balance of beautiful instrumentals during our ceremony and cocktail hour, gradually building up into a seamless transition into allll the fun dancing songs. He was super accommodating with some of our non-standard requests (ex. playing some spanish songs) and was an incredible emcee as well. Absolutely 11/10 - wish we could work with him again!!

I imagined having a sax player pop out of the audience and start playing a song after we got announced husband and wife, and he was able to do that for us! First while we ate at the reception he was singing live with his guitar. And he was a joy to listen to. Afterwards he moved to the role of a DJ. He catered to the audience and was able to take requests while he DJed. When I think back to the wonderful memories of our wedding, he was responsible for 90% of them. Thank you so much, Michael. We gave him an idea of what kind of music we liked in general, what specific songs we absolutely had to have, and then a rough description of the varied musical tastes of our guests. We didn’t have to micromanage him......He created the perfect playlist! But the thing that made us most happy then and every time we think of that magical night, was the way he blended a medley of 5 different songs that reflected the love my husband and I have for each other. He is a genius! Finally he is a good communicator and erased our jitters by meeting all deadlines well in advance and in a superior way. He is the best !

I first connected with Still Listening Productions and Michael about a year before I was even engaged when I was looking for a Musician/DJ combo for my company’s annual Holiday Party. After seeing him perform for a corporate crowd filled with different ages and tastes, and hearing nothing but positive feedback, we knew that Michael would be perfect for our upcoming wedding. As soon as we booked our venue, Michael was the first vendor we contacted in order to ensure he wasn’t scooped up by anyone else! Michael was an absolute pleasure to work with! When we had trouble finding a song that we liked for our first dance, he worked with us to create a slower, more first-dance worthy version of Tom Petty’s “Here Comes My Girl”. He sent us recordings that we could use for our dance lessons, and played it live for us at his Acoustic Wednesday’s gig at En Fuego Del Mar (do yourself a favor and grab a Margarita at En Fuego one Wednesday evening when Michael is playing, you won’t regret it!). He also sat down with us to go over any questions that we had before the wedding, and to get an idea of what we were looking for on our big day. This meeting was crucial because Michael helped give our music tastes life in the recommendations that he made for the different portions of the evening. On the day, he delivered a performance before, during, and after the ceremony--and again at the reception and dancing later--that people are still talking about. People were also struck by his wonderful personality both as deejay and emcee of the day's events. He was absolutely great. I'd recommend him wholeheartedly!

Performance - Excellent As I mentioned above, his performance throughout the wedding day/night was perfect and seamless. He showed up earlier to the venue to setup multiple areas for his performance which made transitioning between different areas of the venue very seamless. All of our guests love the fact that he was able to play live music as well as DJ. Cost - Excellent Compared to other companies we were looking at, we feel that the price that we were charged was very fair. We had Collin Elliott from Still Listening perform acoustic songs prior to/during the ceremony and throughout cocktail hour. He then switched over to DJing the reception and doing the usual announcements/intros. He played a good mix of music that got everyone dancing and he wasn’t overbearing with his announcements (like how some DJs try to take over the show and go over the top; he said the perfect amount in just the right way). Two of our favorite moments of the night were when he switched from DJing to play two live songs – one for our first dance (which he specifically learned at our request) and one at the end of the night for the last song. Everyone absolutely loved him and the general concept of having one person do both – we got so many compliments on his behalf! We definitely recommend Collin and Still Listening for weddings or other events, they were highly professional and extremely talented.

He met us before the wedding to talk about the plans at a spot where he was playing that night and he even previewed of few of our requests during his set! He even learned to play a couple of songs for our ceremony (Sound of Music Wedding March and Michael Franti). We also absolutely love his original music (check out his albums on iTunes), so we asked him to play some of his songs during cocktail hour. Lee executed our vision just exactly as we’d imagined it. We had some parts that needed tight musical cues (entrance music) and aspects of the ceremony which included both live music performed by him and recorded sound clips. It all went perfectly. The music he played during our reception was perfect, he’d asked for songs we loved and we loved every song he played. He had the dance floor filled the entire night. We chose our wedding vendors based on their energy. A number of guests asked for his contact information and at least one reached out to him to hire him for an event after hearing him play at our wedding. I emailed about my concerns and they were great at getting back to me and found a different musician who fit with our style perfectly. Our guests were amazed that Lee played the entire night (all 4 hours) and acted as the MC for the evening as well. Still Listening made the entire process stress free and truly provided the soundtrack for our perfect evening.

! We hired Collin Elliott to be the musician/DJ for our wedding, after attending a wedding he performed at and later seeing him perform live, and we could not have been happier with this decision. He is so so talented! About a month before the wedding we asked Collin if he had ever played a certain song acoustic; he quickly got back to me and told me he hadn't but he loved the idea so he was going to put something together and send it to us. Well, the final product was AMAZING and we ended up having him play it for our first song. Everyone RAVED about him and told us how much they loved him during the ceremony and cocktail hour when he was playing acoustic. He was spot-on on the DJ side of things too. Everyone was out dancing and having a great time. We also felt Collin went above and beyond his duties as our DJ. He was super involved in the reception process and made sure everyone knew when they would be dancing or giving toasts. I felt like some of this should have been on our coordinator or someone from our venue but they were no where to be found. Collin really made this a smooth process... I'm not sure what it would have been like without him there. We will definitely be recommending Collin and Still Listening to other friends that have yet to get married or are in the planning stages.

or the reception. He helped us create our song list for each part of the wedding and had GREAT suggestions (like playing Mumford and Sons slowed down for the wedding party entry). He's super TALENTED, everyone LOVED him at our wedding! We had a hard time picking out what song we wanted for our first dance, so he sent us a sample video recording of him playing both songs...such a nice touch!! We really appreciated it, especially since we were planning from far away. He's so approachable, people thought we knew him personally because he's so outgoing and ensures you're having a great time! He made sure the events throughout the wedding flowed nicely (toasts, dances, bouquet toss etc) without any cheese. We also went through him for our uplighting and the photobooth. I would have given all 5 stars, but I thought his manager (who mostly communicates on his behalf in the beginning) was a bit flaky. Tracy wouldn't respond to emails initially, and missed details, like meeting times, materials needed (i.e. table for booth) and her response times were slow. Michael made up for it once it was brought to his attention though. Highly recommend Michael, I hope to watch him perform again soon!

We had so many people come up to us and ask us who he was and tell us how great he sounded. We couldn’t have been happier with our decision to have him as part of our special day and it was well worth the money spent. We also had some technical difficulties with the officiant’s mic during the ceremony and Michael saved the day! We can’t recommend him enough!
