$200 extra for an outdoor ceremony for a crummy speaker that was distorted and played garbled music. Only to be told by Keith that the officiant was holding the mic incorrectly and it was windy that day. Seriously, that’s his excuse for the poor equipment/staff he provided and the couple was charged extra for? The couple had a daytime Summer wedding with an outdoor cocktail hour. Imagine the surprise for everyone to have Christmas music playing in the background l? They were told by Keith that it was only for a “few” minutes. As if it wasn’t a big deal. Shouldn’t have happened at all. (The helper/roadie was a younger man who might’ve lacked experience and caused this error…Who honestly knows?) The DJ (Keith) forgot to announce the groom’s parents while entering the reception hall. He also had to be reminded of the names of a very small wedding party. (6 people in total, that was previously written down and in his possession) The DJ also complained to the bride/groom directly about timing situations within the venue that were beyond their control. Not professional. He should’ve gone straight to the Maitre’d with those issues. The DJ abruptly cut off the endings of certain songs while people were still dancing and proceeded to go directly into another song without any explanation whatsoever. The DJ did not have the “list” of certain songs/dances/names of guests that were specifically requested by the bride/groom. Keith said that he never had this list and wasn’t aware of these requests. Yet he met 3x with the couple in person and went over all these details, including a phone call within 48 hours before the event. Finally, the WORST part, he mispronounced the bride’s first name numerous times throughout the day.  Beyond pathetic. Yet, Keith mentioned a “gratuity” numerous times before the wedding event during in person meetings with couple. Keith actually was given his full payment in cash (with a $300 gratuity) on the day of the event before it was concluded. When confronted with these issues by phone a few days later, Keith was completely perplexed at all of his shortcomings and took no accountability at all for anything. He blamed the couple, the venue, the weather, the roadie and anything/anyone else for the mess he left behind. To be honest, Keith basically hung up on the groom because it was time for him to eat dinner with his family and apparently could have cared less about the situation. This couple is extremely easy going, approachable, and laid back. He took advantage of their kindness and used it for poor service and inattentiveness. Perhaps the bigger reception afterwards he was servicing was more important to him? Either way, it was a lesson learned and hopefully it won’t happen to anyone else.
