We just had our daughter's wedding here and were appalled at the treatment we received during the three days. Lori, the owner is a wolf in sheep's clothing. When we toured the venue, which we thought was lovely, twice, we only heard how happy they were to accommodate us in what ever we needed. It was a different story during the events. Lori became a bully. Lori charged us to heat the event space. Of course this was not in the contract and makes no sense. What venue makes you pay extra for heat?! We paid an enormous amount for the venue and were forced to rent a tent although we never wanted one . It was a chilly day and our guests would have been too cold for the rehearsal dinner in the tent and there was no heater for the tent so we wanted to have the rehearsal dinner in the barn. Lori (the owner) became agitated and rude and charged us for the heat. I had to pay it or our guests would have been cold. She was agitated that we didn't use her caterer and bar (we were not contracted to )and gave us a hard time, ultimately we were strong-armed in to going with her bar service . The bartenders were insanely rude. The bar staff insulted my husband and myself and Lori defended them. She shouted "This is my Barn" if you don't like it leave . She is horribly rude, a cranky bully and there is no way she should be in the wedding business. Please stay away from these people. Also, the bathroom and the area outside the bathrooms smelled like sewage. They should be embarrassed at the service and the product they provided.
Absolutely the best venue we could have ever imagined! When we first drove up, Lori met us and told us she envisioned the venue as Catskills mountain venue with Southern hospitality and boy did she overdeliver! We booked the venue prior to my deployment, and she was so easy to work with while I was out to sea. The payments were very straightforward, and they were so flexibile with some of our requests, especially when it came to our beloved pets.
Booking our free stay to coincide with our tasting was so easy, and we love staying at the studio apartment on the site.
Our wedding weekend was an absolute dream, and they took care of so many things that I didn't even think of! When it rained on Friday, they had really amazing umbrellas they handed out. They got us giant jugs of water when I forgot to get some for our welcome dinner.
Their list of vendors is amazing, every single vendor we used was from their recommendation list, and they have all worked together so many times that things flowed so smoothly.
The views up there are gorgeous, we have so many wonderful pictures from different locations that we had such a hard time narrowing it down, just a perfect location!
I cannot recommend Stone Tavern Farm enough to anyone who wants a full wedding weekend at a decent price where everything gets taken care of so smoothly.
Stone Tavern Farm brought our dream wedding weekend to life! The venue is unique and beautiful. We loved the surrounding mountain views, and the on-site houses are well outfitted with lovely rooms including a hair salon set up. Every room is decorated in cute and eclectic styles that add a lot of personality and comfort. Our family and friends were impressed and had an amazing time throughout the 3 days (rehearsal dinner, bonfire, ceremony, reception, and Sunday brunch). Lori takes great care to get to know the client and their vision for their special day, and she and the STF team (and our coordinator Lydia) do everything possible to make it happen seamlessly. Even just a week before, we were able to adjust the weather plans and make sure we took full advantage of the property to have the best experience. The golf cart shuttles were so useful to move our guests quickly from event to event, and our older relatives felt well cared for with dedicated support to get around. We had 20 kids attend and they had a blast running around and playing together. The barn is stunning and makes a warm and joyful atmosphere for the reception -- it’s an exciting surprise when the guests walk in. And the fireworks at the end of the night were a total hit! We enjoyed every moment of the weekend and it was a dream come true.
We had our DREAM wedding at Stone Tavern Farm on 10/8!!! We went on our tour of the farm back in June 2020 and fell in love, and we have happily watched so many updates happen to the property as our wedding approached 2+ years later! We did have to bring in our own vendors, as those are not included in booking the venue, but STF provides some wonderful recommendations and it allowed us to be more specific to our personal taste anyways. Lori and her team were so enjoyable to work with from start to finish. They were so attentive and helpful as we planned and executed our welcome dinner at the pavilion, outdoor ceremony and barn reception, and Sunday brunch in the barn! STF truly is a dream setting and every one of our guests were floored with the beauty of it, especially during the peak foliage! The hanging lights, immense farm tables, and heated floors set an ambiance that could not be replicated elsewhere. “Magical” is the word I have been using to describe it! We cannot thank the STF staff enough for sharing this amazing space with us during the best weekend of our lives! We will certainly be back for anniversary trips💛
With love,
Nick & Gabrielle
My now wife and I got married at Stone Tavern Farm just over a month ago. It was the BEST weekend of our lives. From the first moment we stepped on the farm we felt love, kindness, and the most wonderful hospitality imagine-able. We began our weekend on Friday by having our rehearsal dinner at the lakeside pavilion and it was a stunning space. The staff worked tirelessly through the day to have it prepped for the night and it paid off. The staff were so attentive to our needs it was almost like they could read our minds because before we could ask a question or make a request they were already on it and making it happen.
We had our ceremony on Saturday at the spot overlooking the valley at the top of the property and our reception at the barn later that evening. Again the staff really worked for us and made the whole day go so smoothly. From the golf cart taxis, to the mind reading hospitality, to the beautiful space we seriously couldn't have asked for anything more. The ceremony site was stunning when we arrived and the barn was jaw dropping. The pictures really don't do it justice.. it has this otherworldly feel about it when you see it in person.
I can't recommend this venue enough. Lori, Bill, Julie, and the rest of the team really worked hard to make this the perfect weekend. I honestly can't say enough about the venue and team. From planning and preparation to onsite support and set up this team is full of rockstars.
We couldn't be happier with our wedding at Stone Tavern Farm! We had a multi-day Indian wedding requiring A LOT of outside vendors and logistics, and Lori and her team went above and beyond to make sure that every event went off without a hitch. The venue is gorgeous with so many unique spaces for different events, and our guests were blown away by the scenery, the attentive staff, and the fireworks! We cannot recommend Stone Tavern Farm enough.
Everything about this venue is amazing. The property is absolutely beautiful. The barn is breathtaking and the grounds are so beautiful. The family that runs it is so accommodating and really want you to have the most special day. We couldn’t have been more pleased with how everything went. Thanks to everyone at stone tavern farm, we had the best weekend!
Aside from the fact that Stone Tavern Farm is an absolutely gorgeous location to get married, the staff is extremely accommodating and professional as well! Our wedding guests could not stop talking about the breathtaking views of the Catskill Mountains, fun on-site activities (volleyball, s'mores, hiking, interacting with the farm animals, etc.) and thoughtful touches (personal golf cart rides around the property) at Stone Tavern Farm. Lori and her team made all of our weekend festivities go by seamlessly. They worked well coordinating all logistics with our vendors, who also could not stop raving about the staff at STF. The on-site accommodations were an added bonus. Once we arrived on Friday, we did not take one step off of the property until the weekend was over. Don't hesitate to book- cannot recommend this place enough!
After a postponement due to the pandemic and then a last minute venue change that was imposed on us, our party planner suggested Stone Tavern Farm. We actually booked it "sight unseen" based on the recommendations of our planner and photographer and WOW, we were BLOWN AWAY. The Farm is absolutely gorgeous!! The goat is particularly adorable! The groomsman and and bridesmaids stayed on property, which was so wonderful and there was also a small studio for the bride and groom. We held our Friday night Welcome dinner at the Pavilion, the kids were married up on a hill that was glorious, our Reception was in the Barn and the Farewell brunch was back in the Pavilion. The brunch was catered by Stone Tavern Farm and it was great. All fantastic and beautiful. The staff was so attentive. They were always around to help with every detail you could imagine. Lori, and her team were incredible. Collin, the site manager was so accommodating with anything we needed. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left they were there for us. I highly recommend Stone Tavern Farm for your event.
We had an amazing wedding at Stone Tavern Farm, thanks to Lori and her very accommodating staff. Everything was perfect from start to finish.
The wedding was truly spectacular, from getting ready in the spacious and beautiful six-bedroom house to cocktail hour in the pavilion and the reception in the incredible and large barn. One of our guests pointed out that if the location were closer to their community, Stone Tavern Farm would be booked up for years straight!
We were very happy that Stone Tavern Farm offered so many amenities in their price - such as tables, chairs, setup, golf carts and drivers, tiki lights around the property, bonfire setup, and more. Our caterer was shocked at how Stone Tavern Farm included all these amenities compared to other farms he catered at. He said that the best perk for him was that the farm offers unlimited ice - he usually has to send staff back and forth to gas stations to stock up on ice throughout farm weddings!
Everything was beautiful, picturesque, and simply put — perfect. Lori and her staff were detail-oriented and communicative.
Bottom line:
If you’re looking for a stunning wedding venue in the Catskills area, with a big, beautiful barn, communicative, accommodating staff, and a load of nice (included) touches like tiki lights, bonfire, and umbrellas for rainy events, Stone Tavern Farm is the place!
We booked STF pre pandemic and were prepared to get married in June of 2020. Obviously this all had to be rescheduled until 2021, and STF was incredibly accomodating. Once we arrived at the venue for our wedding weekend, they were so helpful-the owner, Lori, was insanely approachable and easy to contact..she was there for everything we needed all weekend. The venue was absolutely stunning-the beauty of the mountains and lake speak for themselves, but the wooded venue was what caught our eye. We have only good things to say about this venue. Thank you so much for such a beautiful wedding weekend.
STAY CLEAR! If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been fighting the owner for over 5 years to get my money back. I paid in full over a year before my wedding date. Unfortunately, a couple weeks later we called off the wedding (just about a year before the wedding date). After weeks of chasing him, he told me he could get me my money back IF he was able to rebook the date (at the beginning of June the following year, a prime date). Later he told me that the ENTIRE $17,500 was considered a non-refundable deposit. Later he admitted he no longer had the money because he had used it to make improvements on the property. He advised me against going to a lawyer because "people who go to lawyers never get their money back". A judge ruled in our favor, but I still haven't been able to get my money back from this guy. That money was left to me by my father who had passed away 10 years earlier, so I could have my dream wedding. He stole that from me and from my father. Do yourself a favor and find a venue who is worthy of your investment.
We hired them last October 2019 for our scheduled wedding (today) October 17th, 2020. Due to the National Emergency caused by COVID'19 Pandemic and Emergency closures and restrictions, we had no other choice but to cancel our wedding. We agreed that we would be refunded everything outside of our initial deposit and all lines of communication were wonderful when we were paying customers. They replied back to us again in late June 2020 asking for some more time and that they would reach out to us. After over 20 emails and almost 30 phone calls since July of 2020 (mailbox is full and refers you to their email) I have even reached out to them today which was supposed to be my wedding day and STILL NOT EVEN A SINGLE OUNCE OF COMPASSION OR REPLY. I am so very saddened because I have seen through multiple social media sites that they have booked other couples for the coming years. So Stone Tavern Farm owners will take money from customers and never reply once they have gotten money for services not rendered? This is entirely unethical. My Fiancee and I work very hard for our money and do empathize with the hospitality industry as they are clearly struggling, but how is it even the slightest bit okay to steal money from hardworking, taxpaying citizens and even more so my fiancee is a first responder for the city of New York and worked tirelessly and selflessly throughout the entire pandemic and continues to do so. Our money was not given as a gift to this venue nor was it intended to keep them afloat rather this should have been placed in escrow and USED ONLY FOR OUR INTENDED WEDDING DAY. I am super disappointed and do hope they have it in their hearts and conscience to reach out to us and fulfill what they agreed upon with us.
Horrible! Do not waste your time or money on this place. Especially, if you are planning to book while Covid is still happening. My wedding was schedule this past June, in the midst of the pandemic. The state forced my 180 plus wedding to be cancelled. Stone Tavern was the ONLY vendor that did not refund a deposit or compensate us in any way for the amount that was lost. As a matter of fact they stopped corresponding with us completely the second we cancelled. Prior to our cancellation, we emailed several times to learn our options, I had to email multiple times to get a simple response in which did not provide us with adequate information. They are a horrible team who clearly does not communicate with one another and does not care about their couples. Please stay away, I had to hire a Lawyer, it’s exhausting, they are exhausting.
We could not have asked for a better wedding venue. We searched high and low for an affordable venue that would let us host people all weekend. We wanted to really be able to spend time with everyone (Especially because our wedding was large), so we had events friday night, saturday morning, and the main event saturday afternoon/evening. Friday night we held a casual pizza night dinner for all our guests followed by karaoke and a bonfire. Saturday morning we organized a group run up the nearby mountain, yoga afterwards, and lawn games. We held our ceremony on the nearby hill which was gorgeous, cocktail hour at the pavilion by the pond, andthe reception in the beautifully renovated barn. Emily, Lee, and Colin were there for any questions we had along the way and worked seemlessly with our vendors. We really loved having a central spot for all our guests to hang out and it was an added bonus that they are flexible with vendors including the catering and alcohol. We got married in late september and the weather was amazing (wasn't cold in my dress nor was the groom too hot in his suit) and the leaves were just starting to change. It is incredibly scenic and all our guests loved being there. It was great to have family be able to stay down the road and the wedding party and us to be able to stay right across the street. Couldn't have asked for more!
We loved having our wedding weekend at Stone Tavern Farm. The venue is beautiful and had the classy rustic vibe we wanted. Emily was responsive to our questions during the planning process. The Stone House was very nice and spacious. It worked out well having the wedding party stay at the house on-site. We liked that there were no time restrictions and enjoyed having bonfires late Friday and Saturday night. One challenge was having to organize recycling of bottles through the caterer since Roxbury does not have recycling pick up. We hired Lydia of Catskill Weddings to help plan our special day. They are very familiar with this venue and did an great job decorating the barn. Guests told me the barn decorations were Pinterest worthy. We highly recommend hiring them to decorate and plan your wedding at the farm. We had an amazing wedding weekend and definitely recommend this beautiful venue!
We wanted to have a different wedding from the “cookie-cutter” country clubs that we had been to so many of before. Right from the moment we saw Stone Tavern Farm, we fell in love with the place. The fact you have no time restrictions and can pretty much do whatever you want for a whole weekend meant our wedding would be completely unique. We got married at the end of September and had stunning weather as well as early fall leaf colors, it was perfect.
We worked closely with John (the owner), Ashley (wedding coordinator) and Colin (onsite manager). Leading up to the wedding, John and Ashley are clearly very busy and sometimes didn’t respond as quickly as we would have liked, but when they did, they calmly fixed all of our concerns. We were having nearly 200 people for the weekend and due to there being another wedding location nearby, finding accomodation for later responders was challenging but John promised everyone would get somewhere and he personally insured it happened.
When it's your wedding week, John and his team make you feel like the most important people in the world and they handle EVERYTHING. From the cake topper breaking the morning of the wedding, to making sure all the guests are well taken care of while waiting for the ceremony to start, to ensuring the bridal and groom actually get to eat at the cocktail hour and reception, to a STUNNING fireworks show!
As with any wedding there is a great deal of planning involved. Because we were having a 3 day event, this workload was tripled. We started by looking at vendors recommended by Stone Tavern Farm as well as some of our own. Friday night we had John’s BBQ (delicious!) and karaoke. Saturday we had cold cuts for lunch and lawn games and then for the ceremony used the phenomenal Rhinecliff as our caterers (Dale and James were LEGENDS) and the sublime Larry Siegel Band for our musicians. Sunday was a wonderful brunch in the pavillion (STF provided). Our flowers were provided by the Catskill Flower Shop and they were simply stunning, Lydia was extremely easy to work with and thoroughly professional. The talented Hendrick Moy was our wedding photographer. Also, Ashley did a wonderful job with our drapes and decor.
The Rhinecliff catered to our Italian family on the bride’s side and English family on the groom’s side. Cocktail hour was well served and the main courses were hot and delicious (go for the short ribs!) The Larry Siegel Band were a 7 piece live band that played for almost 5 hours, they had a varied repertoire and all of our guests were floored by their talents. When we met with Lydia at the Catskill Flower shop she took our “vision” and turned it into perfect table arrangements, bouquets, and other details into reality.
Our only issue was with Rolling V Transportation. They were providing transportation for our guests to and from the ceremony. I would not recommend them at all, they wanted to pick up some guests at 12pm for a 4pm wedding start! Thankfully John and Ashley stepped in and personally ensured that everyone got to and from the wedding.
All in all we had a completely stunning and memorable wedding. Many people commented that it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. Standing outside the barn at the cigar bar watching the climax of the day a huge private fireworks display cannot be put into words. Thank you everyone at Stone Tavern Farm for making our wedding the greatest day of our lives.
This farm is probably one the prettiest ones i have ever seen. Our wedding was absolutely perfect-location wise- but dealing with the owner is unnecessary stress. Colin, his right hand man was very nice and professional and helpful (unfortunately i only dealt with him the weeekend of our wedding). Please be aware that you will need to have a very good coordinator/planner to help you organize and decorate your weekend wedding. John will make it seem like a dream and it's all under control, but his lack of communication and organization skills, makes it difficult. Make sure anything that was promised to you or mentioned, that it is all in writing. This venue is on the pricier side than most farm weddings. Just days before our wedding i had asked him to take down the drapery he added to the barn (which i found out he put up with out telling me he did any updates to the barn) We had purchased our own drapery to add to the barn , since we were told we can decorate however we would like. I told John i wasn't aware of the drapery he put up, so i purchased my own and asked nicely if he can bring it down. and he wanted to charge me $1,200 to take down the drapery, i could've done this myself in probably two hours. That's exactly what a bride who is getting married in 3 days- more stress. He wouldn't return phone calls and emails until days later. When we left he didn't even stop to ask my parents how everything was, he dared not to speak to me since we got into a disagreement about the drapery. Its not that we are looking for perfection, but effort, honesty and genuinely caring about the couples weddings would be nice. Please be aware you will need to get a good planner or coordinator, he will not help. do not use anything he suggests and make sure you know that the Bally Bunion house he might have given you a tour of, is on the market, Horses are not available to ride, and we were told ATVs were broken, but when we got into our argument he said they were working. (Just please make sure you have everything in writing), and you will have the drapery whether you like it or not. He will probably pay someone to even take this review off the websites. If you speak and deal with Colin, make sure you have a planner that knows what they're doing and how the technicalities of the farm are and know the little details john does not tell you about; you should be fine. pros of this venue is that there is NO time limit, and no noise restriction and GORGEOUS location. Hopefully the owner of stf can take this as constructive criticism and can make the necessary improvements & efforts to make the future wedding couples experience more pleasant and stress free!
Best venue ever. Stunning location, the best infrastructure for a rural venue (REAL bathrooms! And shower facilities for campers! Endless parking! Gorgeous tables and chairs!), limitless flexibility to make it YOUR wedding - no curfew, the whole week to yourselves, options for both in-house and outside vendors - and amazing staff who have decades of wedding event experience and love what they do. John was the best - so much fun to work with. Our guests were raving about the beauty and thoughtful details about this site, and we couldn't believe it - our dream wedding became a reality at Stone Tavern Farm.
We absolutely loved our wedding at Stone Tavern Farm. We had so much fun and our guests loved it. We are two very laid back people so it was only natural we chose Stone Tavern Farm in Roxbury, NY as our venue. We wanted a venue that had a beautiful site of outdoor ceremony, use of venue for the entire weekend in order to have Friday night and Sunday morning activities, and no curfew/cut off time. Stone Tavern Farm checked all the boxes. The rustic location provided a gorgeous backdrop for our wedding weekend.
I have always planned my wedding like and girl since the age of 5. I defiantly got more then I could have ever dreamed of. Stone Tavern Farm is the excellent balance of upscale weddings mixed with a natural country touch. The farm is 400 acres of mountains and the lovely animals roaming the property, which my guests enjoyed taking "selfies" with. It started with Friday we had our dinner rehearsal where almost every guest was able to attend at a fair price, we decided to book the brick pizza oven, the line was out the door for seconds, what a HIT! The next day, WEDDING DAY, all the girls met me for hair and makeup at the log cabin down the road from the farm. We enjoyed the champagne and cheese platter stone tavern's employees brought to us as a surprise. The wedding went smooth and all the guest loved the location. The reception was the best part, with stone tavern's no shut down time, the party went until 4am! We had an extra DJ come in to continue the party with house music and glow sticks. We had a smore's bar for dessert using the massive bonfire, followed by a fantastic firework show. Sunday all the guests enjoyed the many activities offered on the farm such as paintball and atving, although I did not take part haha. The weekend was one for the books, and I think I've won wedding of the year by all my friends! If you are looking for an experience like mine John and crew can give you the time of your life, thanks guys!
Stone Tavern Farm was a wonderful place to get married! It is a working horse/cattle farm as well as a weekend wedding venue! The whole atmosphere is relaxed. The owners are very easy going and down to earth. The staff is friendly and attentive. The owner told me not to wear a watch and to just let the day flow... and that is exactly how it went!
Our ceremony took place in the "pavilion", a large gazebo-like structure, with a ceiling, but no walls. Then the cocktail hour and reception were in the huge barn with an open rafter ceiling and elegant lighting!
This farm was ideal... the beautiful natural scenery, the laid-back vibe, and the ability to party until the sun came up! There was no ending time to the party, so we stayed in the barn until the wee hours of the morning dancing!
If you are looking for a country wedding (and NO high heels!) this is the place!
My wedding was more fun and awesome than I had dreamed of! My family and friends are still taking about it! It feels great when everyone agrees it was the "best wedding ever"!
Thank you Stone Tavern Farm for being the perfect fit!!!
