ting. The booth worked perfectly before and after your wedding. It was a fluke that rarely happens...in fact, we're almost a year later and I don't think that booth has had an issue since. It's embarrassing when that happens and again, I'm very sorry for letting you down.

I wanted some time to think about my response...I guess now it's a public response since you've left 1-star reviews on four sites. Immediately following every event, our DJ's submit a form to share how things went. Amy's feedback was hard for me to read and digest. Typically when I (or any of my staff) arrive at a wedding, we're welcomed and seen as an ally there to help make your day go well. That was not Amy's experience. In fact, here's her exact words: "The venue manager was very helpful, but when the event finally started I could sense tension from the wedding party and the parents. Whenever I asked simple questions everyone responded with annoyance and hostility. At first I thought it was just maybe they were stressed and had jitters, but then it went on the whole night. The groom wouldn't even engage with me. I just felt unwelcomed there, and then I realized it wasn't because of anything I did. I wasn't welcomed there because I was a POC." She went on to say it was her worst event ever because of how uneasy she was all night and she knows mistakes were made on here part. I wasn't there to witness any of this personally and I'm not about to throw around words and labels irresponsibly like so many do. Whether because of actual racial tension existing or because of the icy and unwelcome vibe/reception she received, a hostile environment was created from her perspective, which led to poor performance. I can't say that I wouldn't have made mistakes if I was in the same situation. I hold no ill will toward you and wish you all the best. However, I can tell you she receives great reviews from other couples and this example of work is highly uncharacteristic. I don't want to come off as argumentative but do want to address a couple items you specifically called out. - our DJ's are not required to contact you directly ahead of the wedding. We do not promise that. It's by request, and only after we complete our final check-in here at the studio. I'm sorry if that was not clear. Or if you did request that during your final call with my staff and we missed on that, my apologies. -WAP...while I can certainly appreciate not wanting young (I have 2 young kids myself) kids to hear certain songs, it's near impossible for us to be the ultimate sensor for your guests. We purchase and play clean versions of songs when available. That doesn't change the content but we do try and reduce the swear words where we can. I do encourage our DJ's to save some of the more suggestive songs till later in the evening but I've DJ'd many weddings where that music gets all but demanded very early. And sometimes it's the kids that request those songs which still shocks me.

ied to explain, perhaps poorly, that with the cancellation the amount of money coming into the studio after paying they photographer and DJ to pay for fixed costs like rent and employee salaries has already been cut in half (or more). Those costs don't go away, but the money has. Fulfilling the request of then providing additional services which will cost further money just isn't an option right now. Studio Veil has been very lenient with clients on postponements and we are doing the best we can to take care of clients in this challenging year but we also need to be able to remain open for all our couples who aren't cancelling services. Steve, I wish you the best. As I've already explained to you as well, it's my hope to be able to offer at least a partial refund in the future on the other side of covid. It's easier for me to offer a partial refund based on future stability than it is to spend more money now in uncertain times.
