hough we were total beginners. John broke down each step in a way that was fun and easy to follow, and always encouraged us with kindness and positivity. By the time our wedding came, we not only felt ready, but we genuinely enjoyed being out on the dance floor together. Our first dance was everything we hoped it would be, and it’s all thanks to John. We couldn’t recommend him more highly!

iately after we reached out, John responded and got us on his calendar for our first lesson within one week. In that first hour long lesson, John made us feel comfortable and broke through any anxiety we had about dancing in front of strangers. He had our song ready to go, walked us through the basics that became the core of our dance, and our walk onto the dance floor. John made us laugh constantly and hyped us up to build our confidence. We ended up only having time for 2 lessons. In the second lesson, John quickly refined what we had gone over in the first session and then moved on to the “ooh, ahh” moments in our dance - the twirls and dip. We left our 2nd session feeling like we could dance in front of 150 people and have fun with it rather than it being anxiety-inducing. Going in, we weren’t sure if we wanted a fully choreographed dance. We wanted to dance in a way that felt like us and felt like we were on the same page and not just stepping onto the dance floor together for the first time. John understood that and helped us craft the right dance for that special moment. The end product was a hit - we felt confident out there and received a bunch of compliments on how nice our first dance was. our vision was or how to make it happen. John made the experience so seamless and enjoyable. The very first class, John laid out a plan for how we would become wedding-ready within 4 sessions. One of his main focuses, which we absolutely loved, was his emphasis on making us look and feel comfortable on the dance floor so that the dance would feel natural and romantic. He did just that – he made us feel immediately comfortable dancing together from our very first class, despite very little prior experience dancing. When we decided to switch our song part way through our second lesson, he was very supportive and understanding, and he very willingly re-choreagraphed our dance for the new music. The choreography/foxtrot itself was beautiful and fit the music so well without being too overwhelming for us. By the 4th session, we felt very comfortable and prepared for the wedding, and he spent extra time with us perfecting little details, from specific hand placements to where to look, making our dance even more romantic. The entire experience from start to finish was such a joy. It was easily one of our favorite parts of wedding planning, and the first dance itself was one of our favorite moments of the wedding night! We also received many compliments at the wedding from guests. We would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn ballroom dance.
