We had an excellent experience with Style Matters DJs! Are music taste is the opposite of wedding music and these guys get it! Spencer was great to work with, responsive, reasonable pricing, and matched us with our DJ, Jonathan who totally understood the assignment! We created pretty extensive playlists because we are big music people and he nailed it! Great dj skills mixing and making all the transitions fun! He was on time and everyone had a blast! Thank you Jonathan and Spencer!!!

We absolutely loved our Style Matters DJ - Duke!! In booking our event with the Sarabande venue, we were matched with Duke about a month ahead of our event. Duke's pre-event communication and understanding of curating an awesome experience for our guests was exceptional. Would highly recommend Style Matters and Duke!

We had such an incredible experience with Style Matters for our wedding at the Honeycomb and Cafe Brauer! From start to finish, everything was seamless and so well-executed. We worked with Spencer throughout the planning process, and he was an absolute gem—kind, super responsive, and genuinely helpful with every question we had leading up to the day. For the ceremony and cocktail hour, we hired their string trio, and they were absolutely amazing. The music was beautiful and truly elevated the atmosphere—so many guests commented on how lovely it sounded! Our DJ for the reception was Margot, and she was fantastic. She struck the perfect balance of being fun and energetic while also staying professional and respectful of our preferences. She followed our "do not play" list carefully, but still read the crowd perfectly and played a great mix of songs that kept the dance floor packed until midnight! Her announcements throughout the evening were clear and well-timed, and the overall sound quality for both the reception and earlier parts of the day was excellent. We’re so happy we chose Style Matters and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-tier music and service for their big day!

⚠️ WARNING: Style Matters Failed to Deliver My experience with Style Matters was deeply disappointing and fell far short of their promises. The Promise vs. Reality After an extensive phone consultation with Spencer Lokken (owner) and completing a detailed questionnaire, I clearly communicated our vision for our wedding DJ. Spencer confidently assured me he had the perfect match for our event. Unfortunately, what we received was the complete opposite of what we requested. What we asked for: A highly skilled, charismatic DJ with creative mixing abilities and exceptional turntablist skills who could energize our celebration. What we got: A DJ (Margot/Diskokitty) who delivered a lackluster performance with below-average technical skills and zero enthusiasm as an MC. The Impact on Our Wedding Day The DJ’s performance was so noticeably poor that multiple guests approached us asking, “What’s wrong with the DJ? It’s like she doesn’t even want to be here.” This was embarrassing and became a distraction on what should have been our perfect day. Honestly, I could have achieved the same result by pressing play on a Spotify playlist—and saved thousands of dollars in the process. Poor Communication and Planning Beyond the disappointing performance, Spencer’s communication throughout the planning process was untimely and disorganized, creating unnecessary stress during an already demanding time. Broken Promises Style Matters markets themselves with bold claims: “25 of the most talented DJs this city has ever seen.” — They are not. “We will create a unique and incredibly enjoyable experience” — They did not. “There’s simply too much (music) out there to waste people’s time on the stuff they’ve heard a million times before” — We received exactly that: a generic, cookie-cutter wedding DJ set with zero creativity. Final Thoughts While we managed to salvage our celebration and create beautiful memories with our loved ones, the DJ performance was undeniably one of the lowest points of our special day. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for your wedding entertainment.

We had a fabulous experience with Spencer and Bethany for our wedding. They took great care to listen to us about what we wanted to hear and made sure that something was played that basically anyone could enjoy while also incorporating in some of our favorite songs that have to defined our relationship. They came all the way down to New Orleans for our destination wedding and the dance floor was packed the entire time, even in the rain. We would highly recommend Style Matters for any wedding or event needs, we couldn’t have asked for more from our wedding DJs.

We recently used Devin aka DJ Archi from Style Matters for our wedding. The setup process from first meeting with the owner, Spencer, to getting assigned our DJ was smooth. At the wedding, Devin was great at reading the vibe and got our friends and family all on the floor. Many of our guests raved about how he was able to read the room and locked in on a punk rock vibe that we and our friends enjoyed. He also honored all our requests, including specific slow songs and not having any line dances.

My husband and I had the privilege of working with style matters for our wedding. Having a great dj was extremely important to us in creating a fun, inviting atmosphere during our big day and style matters did not disappoint! We were paired with Chris and from the moment we met him we knew he was going to bring the energy and vibe we wanted. Chris listened to everything we wanted and put together amazing music to keep our guests dancing and enjoying the night. He perfectly timed every song including our favorite moment of playing our recessional song right as we leaned in for our first kiss as newlyweds. We would greatly recommend working with them in the future and so would all our friends and family who raved about our music and energy throughout the wedding.

For my recent wedding, we hired Style Matters. We weren’t assigned our DJ until the week of the wedding which was disappointing because Spencer told us that we would be assigned one 2 months prior to the wedding. After numerous emails and being put off, we were assigned Margo. Due to being assigned the DJ the week of the wedding, we had to make time to meet with her during an already very busy and stressful week. She seemed very uninterested in our meeting which was a huge red flag. She was nice, but unfortunately, the experience wasn't what we hoped for. She didn't play most of the songs on our “must-play” or “likes” lists (on the questionnaire provided by the company you put 20 must play songs, and an unlimited amount of songs you like and only about 7 or 8 were played) and instead played random songs we didn't request or want played. The dance floor was decently full throughout the event. Even though we agreed she could take requests after she asked us, she ended up telling our guests no when they asked for songs. Even when I, the bride, requested a song, she told me no and then it randomly started playing about 10 minutes later when I was off getting photos. It was a bit disappointing, to be honest. We had live strings for the ceremony and cocktail hour, they were AMAZING. We also had the live drummer to go along with the DJ, and he was awesome as well. I’m giving 2 stars because the live strings and drummer were amazing and helped elevate the event but our experience with the DJ was not great.

Style Matters is a wonderful group of DJs. We had Duke deejay our wedding and he is the absolute man! He absolutely killed it on our wedding day, but that started weeks prior when he first met us. He started by getting a sense of who we are and our vibe. Using that, his intuition, and our questionnaire, he presented an initial proposal that was spot on. He worked with our wide ranging song requests to cultivate a seamless dance floor experience; he also read the crowd really well and adjusted accordingly. From an emcee perspective, his timing was impeccable; he took our incorporation of certain movie themes and incorporated it masterfully throughout the evening. He even accommodated a song change for our grand entrance at the last minute and timed it perfectly with our walk to our sweetheart table. All in all, he exceeded any and every expectation we had. Duke is a phenomenal person and is the type of individual that you want guiding the evening and cultivating the vibes along the way.

LOVED Max. We did come to Max with a diverse list of songs and a wide spread of wedding guests, and he really delivered. We didn't have a wedding planner really, so it was just me, but Max was so easy to work with. He knew that our priority was having people on the dance floor having a great time, and that's exactly what happened. He was very flexible with whatever sorts of things we wanted to do like when we wanted to take a break from the bops to do a traditional dance, and he was able to bring the dance floor vibes all the way back up to max level. EVERYONE was talking about how great our dance floor and dj was. Absolutely the most memorable and special part of our wedding was the dancing, and it's all because of Max. Thank you!

We absolutely LOVED our DJ, Devin, and received so many compliments from guests about the music. It was such a party! He did a great job of reading the room and played all of our "must play" songs. Highly recommend!

So many good things to say about Style Matters! Very easy to work with, responsive, reasonable. Larry was our DJ and he absolutely crushed it! The dance floor was full the whole night. 10/10 recommend!

Nothing but good things to say about Style Matters DJ's - they were incredible, fair price, and super helpful! Scotty was our DJ and he was awesome. He kept the party going, stayed true to our play & do not play lists and put his own flare on the night that was exactly in line with what we wanted. We had our wedding at Greenhouse Loft and worked with Spencer to find a DJ from Style Matters that would be the best fit for our style and vision for the night. We had DJ Duke, and he was incredible to work with! He took the time to walk through our vision for the evening from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to dinner hour, to reception/party on the dance floor. We asked him to make a custom mix for our grand entrance, help with the timing of our father/daughter/mother/son dances, and pay close attention to what was getting people on the dance floor, and he did an amazing job! He played all of our “must play songs”, did not play any of the “do not plays”, and read the room. We had a wide range of genres in our must plays and preferred plays - from salsa, to rock, to hip hop, to country, and somehow he found a way to blend them all together in a way that kept everyone engaged. The dance floor was packed ALL night!! We even had people reach out to us the next day and told us the DJ was playing “banger after banger”. We told Duke that we wanted the reception to be a party, and he 100% delivered!

Style Matters and Max Abstrax understood the assignment! They were super easy to work with, understood our vibe quickly, went above and beyond, worked with our entire vendor team seamlessly, and everyone couldn't stop talking about how great the dancing was at our wedding. We so appreciate Max and Spencer and everyone at Style Matters!

DJ Disko Kitty (Margot) is absolutely incredible. When I say every song was perfect - every song was so perfect, to the point where my friends and I were saying "how did she know?!" It was the best dance party ever. She's also very easy to work with and clearly a consummate professional - she ran through everything she needed from us in one easy call, and then everything was so smooth on the day of. We cannot recommend working with her enough!! THANK YOU Margot, you are so wonderful!!!!

We were lucky enough to get "Duke" as our DJ for our November wedding. He was the BEST! He came recommended by our day-of coordinator, and that recommendation was affirmed in our first meeting when he came prepared with a list of questions that really go to the core of my and my partner's music tastes, which are quite different. To be fair, I'm more a fan of pop and country fan, and my partner is a huge believer that country isn't real music, and EDM / dance pop is where it's at. Duke was able to help us find some common ground and create a playlist that played to both of our preferences and kept the dance floor alive all night long (though my partner would likely still argue that he snuck in one too many "pop country" hits to the playlist for his taste lol). Duke brought so much fun energy to the evening (beyond just the music he also was an amazing emcee) and kept even our older guests engaged and excited to come out and party with some fun oldies toward the beginning of the night before transitioning to more traditional "club" vibes later on that the bridal party could vibe with. Duke was also great in helping us curate our bridal party intros and music for dinner, throwing in some fun Disney songs that had our guests laughing and singing along, absolutely setting the right tone for the night right off the bat. We knew we would be in good hands with Style Matters, but felt so lucky to have Duke be a part of our day and be our music deity for the night.

We got a Style Matters DJ as part of our venue—they spin at Greenhouse Loft. We were thrilled with Max, who was cheerful, responsive, and easy to talk to. We had a couple of special requests (ranging from special dances to "please don't use the phrase 'ladies and gentlemen'") and he handled it all, including a little light emceeing, without blinking. (Not literally.) Almost uniquely, he made it hard for me to want to leave the dance floor; he just "got" our vibe perfectly. Highly recommend.

Spencer from Style Matters was incredibly easy to work with. The initial call with him was informative, and the DJ pricing fit well within our budget. He was quick to answer all our questions (even when there were multiple coming at him about all kinds of different things!) The DJ we worked with on our wedding day, Margot, was exceptional, professional, and her DJing was beyond spectacular. Our meeting with Margo was about 2 weeks before our wedding, and we chatted with her about setup, which songs we absolutely had to hear (and which we really didn't want to). On our wedding day, she went above and beyond the call of duty. She set everything up herself, she worked with the other vendors for timing purposes, and most importantly, she had the dance floor PACKED from first to last song. She flawlessly transitioned one song to another, she played banger after banger, and we received SO many compliments on the music choices and the atmosphere. "Whatever you're tipping her, it's not enough!" one of our guests said. (Margot, I hope you're happy!) All in all, we were over the moon with the services provided by Style Matters.

For the most part, we really enjoyed working with Style Matters DJs! Our main point of contact, Spencer, was responsive throughout the process and the music questionnaire made it easy for us to make sure the experience was crafted to our tastes. We were assigned DJ Archi, and it was clear (both in meeting beforehand and the day of) that he'd taken the time to thoroughly review our questionnaire. He had a great sense of timing and kept the dance floor full during the reception! We did take one star off for the delayed DJ match. From the original pitch, I was under the impression we'd get our DJ about 1-2 months ahead but in reality we got matched less than 2 weeks before the event. In the end, we felt like this didn't hinder the quality of the DJ-ing, but it was nerve-racking so close to the big day. To Spencer's credit, he was very communicative during this time about his efforts to match us as soon as he could.

Esteban was an absolute gem at our wedding! He kept the party alive and the dance floor hopping all night long. His music selection was on point, and he seamlessly blended different genres to cater to all our guests' tastes. He listened to our tastes and helped provide an awesome set list. Esteban's energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and he truly understood the vibe we wanted for our special day. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ to create the perfect atmosphere. We received so many compliments and many people asked how we found such an awesome DJ. Would definitely book Esteban again!

Ryan from Style Matters was the DJ at our recent wedding and he did a fantastic job. He perfectly captured our vibe based on our requested songs and kept the dance floor lively. It was very easy to work with Spencer to get everything scheduled and everything ran smoothly. I would highly recommend using Style Matters!

We LOVED working with Style Matters and our DJ, Ryan! We had so many compliments about our wedding music. Ryan totally followed our vision of having a super lively dance floor-he used our must play, do not play list, and followed the genres/vibe we wanted. He also was so kind in coordinating music to go with my dad’s speech. Could not recommend him enough!

Overall great experience with Style Matters and our DJ, Max! All of our must-haves made the cut the night of, and the planning process was relaxed. They were really open to my detailed list of requests/flow of the night as it related to music and we really appreciated that.

We loved working with Style Matters/Spencer and our DJ, Larry! The process leading up to our wedding was professional but not overly-stressful, and it felt like the detailed info we submitted about our music preferences was absolutely taken into account. We got so many compliments about the music during + after the event—Larry was attentive and smart with his curation, had impeccable taste, and totally went with the flow and adapted when there were some technical issues at the venue beyond his control. We worked with Style Matters DJ Duke for our wedding ceremony and reception in March 2023 at Greenhouse Loft and could not have asked for a better experience. DJ Duke was experienced, incredibly detail-oriented, communicative, and thorough throughout our planning process. He listened to our (many) musical preferences and desires and somehow managed to incorporate our lengthy list of must-have songs, keeping us and our guests on the dance floor all night long. DJ Duke kept the vibes immaculate and helped us throw the dance party of our dreams. We highly recommend!

Chris at Style Matters was our Dj for our wedding. He did an amazing job from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. He was super easy to work with, very responsive, and accommodating. He did a great job taking our reception music "likes" and creating a fun party where everyone at every age was dancing. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Spencer was our DJ at our Chicago wedding and sooooo amazing. Truly made us have the most epic fun party. Everyone was dancing the entire night. I could not be happier with Spencer. We also loved Ernie the drummer and String Theory. Would highly recommend Style Matters if you want to have some fun!!

Working with Spencer and Max was a breeze. What is arguably one of the most important aspects of a wedding was the least stressful because Style Matters considers your music opinions and styles when choosing a DJ for your big day! My husband and I wanted the dance floor to be packed all night with some great hits, and Max went above and beyond. We have gotten so many compliments from family and friends following our wedding on how there was never a dull moment on the dance floor!! Max read the room while seamlessly including the music that we had requested. 100/10 could not recommend more!

Style Matters provided the dj for our wedding gat Greenhouse loft. We selected DJ Duke after looking at reviews. Duke had a short meeting with us the week before the wedding. He absolutely nailed the vibe of our wedding at each stage (ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and rehearsal) and we got so many compliments on the music. Duke rally understood what we wanted and he did a great job editing the songs to fade together. I would recommend him to anyone.

We had our wedding at Greenhouse Loft which works with Style Matters DJs. The process of booking was the easiest part of planning a wedding and it was awesome! We ended up working with DJ Duke, who is so incredible! We completed a questionnaire and had a virtual meet and greet leading up to the big day, and just from that he was able to capture us as a couple and play some amazing music. Our guests could not stop talking about how good the music and how fun Duke was. We cannot thank Duke enough for creating such an awesome night!

Style Matters was super easy to work with, they were so laid back and it felt like they didn't need much from us to do their job, but they still did everything very well! We got matched with Duke about a month before our wedding. We had a call with him to go over what songs we did and didn't want to hear at our wedding and also what we wanted out of our wedding as a whole, which was to have people out on the dance floor all night! He did a great job taking what we said and then running with it. In addition to the music on the dance floor, he made sure to know exactly what music we wanted during the ceremony and during cocktail hour and dinner. Whenever we had places where we didn't know exactly how to phrase what we wanted, he was able to help us flesh out exactly what we meant. He even did a fantastic job of learning the particular style of music we wanted for the dance lesson we had so that it would go smoothly. Overall, we could not have been happier with how the evening turned out and the soundtrack to our wedding!

Our DJ Max was acceptable? I found him to be a really talented DJ, and I danced the entire night, but most of our specific requests, must here songs, and special dances were not listened to or honored. it felt like Max had an agenda and that's what he delivered - which was enjoyable - but not custom. Spencer is really great, but the first time we chatted he took the call from his car which I tried to not to read into, but he sold us on the amount of communication and dialogue we would have with our selected DJ and that wasn't delivered on. it sort of felt like he forgot our wedding? Even though we paid the full fee upfront and early. I had to reach out to follow up on some opportunities he had promised to communicate including discussing DJs from the team that would meet our style. When we heard back, he said he was still trying to pick a DJ for us and then a short after told us we could have a chat with Max (no other options were presented). When we met Max I was really hopeful - he seemed super experienced and seemed to pick up on our vibe. He even said "check me off your list," which was encouraging. We sent a spotify playlist his way. We requested more old school classic wedding songs for the majority of the evening and then the last hour more modern pop rock - feeback from our guests was that there wasn't enough old school for the older guests to enjoy. We asked for an anniversary dance which did not happen. Our wedding coordinator needed to ask him to start the couple, and parent dances. We'd requested the final song be Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything for Love" the musical recording - I had to go an ask him to play this after he'd started a different final song - which was kind of embaressing and not ideal. Max had also offered to trim our first dance. We sent him the time stamps for what we wanted cut about a week before hand. I asked if he could send the edited version for us to practice with and I didn't hear back from him until the night before. When we arrived at the venue I had asked if we could take 5 minutes and practice with the cut - it was disheartening and stressful to find that the cut hadn't been prepared so we had to listen to the entire song in front of early guests as they arrived so we could provide the cut (again). Overall, we felt super overlooked and a low priority. But I will say I think Max is really talented, and I think our experience may have been more a fluke - it felt like there were some bigger issues going on behind the scenes that made this a less than enjoyable experience for us.

Style Matters gave us the biggest dance party I've ever experienced. Spencer threw down exactly what we were looking for and the dance floor was full for the entire reception. Spencer was always quick to respond and listened closely to our requests and needs. We knew we were in good hands as soon as we booked Style Matters. Everyone is still raving about how much fun it was. 5 stars doesn't even do it justice. Thank you so much for giving us the wedding dance party of our dreams!!!

We worked with Marco for our July wedding and it was our pleasure to do so. Style Matters was included as part of the package with our venue, Greenhouse Loft. When we first connected about a week before our wedding, we knew we’d been matched with a thoughtful professional. Marco was incredibly attentive to all of our requests on our wedding day and helped ensure the evening moved as smoothly as we hoped. We and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere he created on the dance floor—we are still getting compliments on it days later. Would book him all over again!

We had Ryan DJ our wedding. Ryan was great in all aspects from start to finish! He offered to hold a call with us to help get a better understanding of what music we were wanting. While we were a bit nervous since we didn't get to talk to Ryan until 2 weeks prior to the event, everything was still smooth! We've been to quite a few weddings where the DJ wasn't playing great music and the dance floor was dead. We didn't want this to happen and we were concerned our DJ wouldn't play our music. But, this didn't happen!! Ryan was very accommodating and did everything we asked for. We had such a great time and we're so happy Ryan was able to make this day as special as we had imagined. Our guests are still talking about how great the music was and how so many people were dancing throughout the entire night. Highly recommend!!

We worked with John as our June 2022 wedding DJ and everything that day was perfect! All the way from cocktail hour to the end of the night, the vibe was exactly what we wanted and all the songs we wanted to hear were played. Even the announcements/introductions throughout the night were spot on. Leading up to the wedding day we worked with Spencer to get all the details sorted out and us paired with a DJ. Responses were always prompt and helpful which was much appreciated. Closer to the wedding communication lacked a little bit so we got paired with our DJ (John) closer to the wedding than we had hoped. We didn't have as much time to go over the wedding day details as we would like, but at the end of the day the form we filled out explaining our must plays/don't plays/timing/details/etc was followed perfectly and we couldn't have asked for a better DJ at our wedding. I would highly recommend having Style Matters DJ your wedding/event!

We worked with DJ Duke through Style Matters for our wedding. He was very personable and took the time to get to know us and our musical tastes prior to the wedding. The event ran very smoothly and the dance floor stayed crowded all night. Duke really listened to our suggestions/preferences and found the best way to put everything into a cohesive set that was approachable for everyone. We got so many compliments on the music! Duke provided us with a full setlist afterwards so we could relive the magical evening. Couldn't be happier - highly recommend!

My wife and I opted for Style Matters for our wedding. Our Contact with Style Matters, Spencer, was very receptive at first, but as our wedding drew closer it felt like we needed to initiate all the conversations in order to receive any details or instruction. After paying our deposit we didn't hear back from Spencer until we reached out two months before the wedding to see if there were any next steps we should take. He sent over a music questionnaire (Brief breakdown of the day/first dance/must plays/ strong recommends/do not plays etc.). We spent some time filling the questionnaire and sent it back to him a month before our wedding. He let us know that he would review the questionnaire and get back to us with a DJ. We then reached out to Spencer 9 days before the wedding asking for our DJ's contact information. Spencer informed us that Julio would be our DJ and he would reach out to us shortly. We were able to touch base with Julio five days before the wedding. Julio did a great job getting everyone on the dance floor and our guests really enjoyed the night. There were some small inconsistencies however that we felt would have been resolved if we had been introduced to Julio earlier. The music played during cocktail hour was not what we had listed in the questionnaire. Our first dance song was supposed to be "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" by Stevie Wonder, we instead danced to a cover of the song. And while the music played by Julio matched the style and tone we discussed over the phone, there were some songs left unplayed from our "must plays" and "strongly recommended" from the questionnaire. Overall we really enjoyed our wedding and Julio was definitely a big part of that, but our experience with Style Matters is mixed. We felt like an afterthought at times, and if left unprompted we don't know if we would have heard back from Spencer.
